    You are not alone, Tana. I'm one of your more recent subscribers because I didn't find you until maybe 5-6 mos. ago. Anxiety disorder and depression are hereditary in my family and while we may not suffer from the exact same thing, I can identify wholeheartedly with what you are going through. I hope your doctor can give you a diagnosis that reveals the right treatment for you--you deserve to be a happy, thriving individual. It's obvious you work hard and are committed to high standards within your craft, whatever it may be! I love your aesthetic, I'm cheering you on to finding the creative work that really resonates within you, leading to joy and fulfillment, rather than dread, anxiety and depression. Take good care, and know that there are so many wishing you all the best in your journey. ❤️

    Tana I hope you never stop creating!!!! You've literally inspired me to start the small business I currently have now!! Thank you for being so raw about how mentally draining it is to have your own small business and actually dissecting what us creatives go through DAILY. I'm so misunderstood by the people around me, it's refreshing to finally know I'm not alone. Please continue sharing

      I'm so happy you could relate. I know many of us struggle with similar things and I'm glad I decided to talk about it so we could feel less alone and learn how to do and feel better. I'm definitely never going to stop creating! 🥰💜

    You are so incredibly brave for sharing this video. It’s so relatable and so many small business owners struggle with similar things. I am also a grade A procrastinator and I stress myself out so much. I drive myself crazy but it’s so so hard to change old habits. It’s especially hard when you are making things you no longer want to make. But it sounds like you’re headed in the right direction and I’m so excited to see where this mental health journey takes you and how you find healing. And congratulations to you and Nick on your new home!!! A fresh space is always a great way to feel inspired and motivated!

      Thank you so much, Yelisse! 💜 It really is tough. I've been since way for as long as I can remember. I always thought I just "worked well under pressure" but turns out it's much more serious than that. I've had to learn so much about myself, my habits and tendencies to finally realize that I am definitely not a neurotypical person lol. Excited for my appointment and to continue learning so I can hopefully share tips for other small business owners going through the same thing 🥰. And yes, I'm hoping having a fresh space that I'll be at for more than a year since it's finally ours will be really helpful 😍

    Hi Tana.
    i am a 50 ( something) yr old creative mum in the UK running my 1 woman business.
    I just wanted to reach through the screen and give you a hug. I have watched and enjoyed so many of your videos but this one moved me so much, a lot of what you said resonated with me so it touched my heart, I wish you so much luck for your appointment and will be interested to see what your results are, I am pleased you are looking after your mental health and hope you realise how special you are. big crafty hugs Denise x

  • @Noobyliscious

    This hit right in the feels - it felt like you were describing me to a point where it almost got scary. I have been suspecting for some time now, that I might have the same mental condition that I assume you suspect as well, with yourself. I also have my own creative business, and since day one I´ve been struggeling. Not with sales, things have been going great and I´ve been able to step down from another full-time job to a part-time job. But the running of it all, the planning (or lack of) and constantly bouncing from one task to another, always wanting to try new things instead of improving the current workflow. I have listened to so many podcasts and other youtubers about this, but your video and the description of how you struggle with these particular situations in a creative small business, was new to me. And it reminded me, that I have to pick up the thread towards seeing a psychiatrist myself, and get to the bottom of this. Thank you for that.I wish you all the well in the world

    I am new to your channel and you are sitting here describing my life for the last 49 years. I have tried to sell the things I make and all of the sudden what used to be fun now became a chore and I would lose any desire to do it. I don’t have a dedicated studio space and the thought getting everything out and putting it all away when I’m finished is just overwhelming to think about. I’m exhausted by the time I’m done running around the house getting all the materials that I have tucked away out and ready to use. I’m a neat freak so leaving the stuff out and sitting on our dining room table until I’m finished just stresses me out, I’m a huge procrastinator as well…so if I have a deadline I will literally wait until the last minute to start it. I also move around from one project/craft/art piece that I ended up with so much stuff. So I got rid of everything except of the few hobbies I absolutely enjoy. You are not alone with how you are feeling.

    Be at peace knowing that everyone who is passionate about what they do feel the same. And also, it is way too much for one person to handle everything within the business and all this drains your energy specially if you are a perfectionist and wants to give the best of you ❤️

    No worries. If you need to take a break. Take a break. Your mental health is more important. I just found your channel and I love it. If anything it’s important to know that it’s not always easy even if you have done it many years of selling online. On the long .It can feel tiring. Thanks for sharing. Like it has it’s ups and downs like any other job. A lot of people need to watch this video. Very informative. Currently I do get tired of the same job and I am very interested in making a small business. I was very stress and saw this video and I thought it was very important for me to watch. Thank you very much.💕

It's hard and we hate the idea of people seeing the real us and not the perfect person we present, but I can genuinely say that I feel so appreciative and thankful that you shared this because I don't feel as alone in my struggles now. Good luck with your diagnosis and I hope you find the tools and help you need to improve your life in the way you want.

    I’ve been going through the same thing. I’ve struggled with depression throughout my life. Trying to find a good therapist. I’ve called a few and they’re not taking any more patients. That should tell you something. So many people need help right now.I also do hand stamping and now use my crcuit machine. Most days lately I have no motivation to do any of it. I also get bored and then start something new. 😬
    It’s a struggle. I think finding balance in life helps. Go out and do new things, try new things to put a spark in your life. Your channel is what first inspired me to start my business. I hope you feel happier soon. ❤️ 🤗

    Oh Tana. This just touches my soul. This was me at the beginning of the pandemic. I shut down my shop and just stopped working. In some ways i felt really good. No stress, but I'm a creative person. So I struggled with that. I deal with severe anxiety, depression, and am going to be talking to a psychologist about possible adhd.
    I didn't see it until recently. Because I grew up with brothers with adhd. Their symptoms was so different them mine. But my older sister also just got an adhd diagnosis, and we pretty much show the same signs.
    I really hope you get the answers you need to help make your life a better quality. 🥰

    Tana, this generation coming up is such a group of entitled people. My daughter is one of them. It is all about me me me. This COVID mess has really upped the ugliness of people. Tana, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a step back to focus on yourself. You are such an amazing person that was blessed with a real talent. My heart and prayers go out to you. I had kinda picked up on something struggling with you so I have already been praying for you. I personally know how prayers can change things. Follow your heart. I don't want to be one of those people but I actually read a scripture last night that hit hard with me. 1 Peter 5:8. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour."

    Real talk: my parents both passed away at the end of 2020 - about 6 weeks apart. I was also struggling at work - and ended up quitting about a week before my Mom died. I ended up having to stick around at their house for 3 months...and had to surrendering their dog...and sadly euthanizing their cat. SO - to say that stuff have been rough - is a huge understatement...I promise that I have a point...at the end of July I was offered an amazing job with a raise. But...I just wasn't ready. I was panicked about working again - and decided to take off another 6 months and get my personal life together. Thankfully, I had the means to do that - and I know not everyone does. I have gone into therapy and am starting to take better care of my body. Therapy is doing a lot to help validate my feelings - and my therapist is pretty sure I have developed PTSD (thanks, former bosses). Sometimes...you just have to take care of yourself the best way you can. I wish I had done it a lot sooner - but who knows if it would have been as effective. LONG story short...you're not alone and I'm sure I'm not the only person here is proud of you for being open about the struggle.

Both of you could plan your week, develop goals and encourage one another. By the way, my daughter has ADHD and has had struggles similar to yours all her life. Bless your heart hun. It sounds like you might have adhd. I found out I had it in January and it has been a really long but interesting road. I always thought I just had terrible depression and anxiety but adhd exasperates those symptoms. I’m looking for a psychiatrist to help me with medication now but it’s like I’ve been battling a monster my whole life and I finally know why and what the monster is. I had a custom t shirt shop and I closed it because I just couldn’t keep up with it. From having a lot of orders to none it was really bad for my mental health. Now I have an adult toy shop with my hubby and I have been enjoying it but I do get overwhelmed easily still but at least my husband helps. Listen…you’re doing great. I know exactly how you feel, you’re not alone. I hope you are able to get the help you need to do and feel better. I’m with you and I pray for you.💕

I've started doing more yoga, reading, meditation, taking walks outside during my "lunch break," listening to relaxing ambience music while working, etc. and that has helped a lot. I'm hoping to make a video about that soon 💕

    Heart breaking to see you cry, I hope you get the answers you need!
    I really related to the part about procrastination. I have an Etsy shop which is successful, it's my full time job and I work from home. I always beat myself up because a lot of people would do anything to be in my position and I feel like I waste it by staring into space. I just can't get the focus or motivation to improve things. I know it could be so much better but I just plod along doing the minimum to get by. Also, when you said that you need deadlines... same! I will make and ship all of my orders because I know I have to but when it comes to adding new listings or improving SEO or social media I am so slow and barely get anything done.
    We have to take a step back sometimes. I have turned my shop off a couple of times just to have a break and it really helps my mindset.
    Take care Tana. Just know that you have inspired a lot of people, you are doing great and you deserve to step back and re-evaluate whenever you see fit x

    As so many others have said already, I can truly relate to your situation! I have recently been diagnosed with high levels of general and social anxiety, as well as depression and O.C.D. Thankfully I am now being treated with a combination of medication and therapy but I am still struggling to find the slightest motivation to keep my business up and running. After investing so much money into my stock and equipment, I feel an overwhelming sense of guilt even considering giving it up. Hopefully my passion will return but for now I am taking some much needed time out to work on myself. Wishing you all the best…. just remember you are not alone. Love your videos. Sending hugs 💕

      I feel like I'll probably be diagnosed with several things as well but at least I'll be happy to officially know what I have and the next steps to take to start bettering my life too. I'll definitely start making videos on things that will help for small businesses owners going through the same struggle. I've done so much research, have started readings book that help what I'm struggling with, and have started applying some of the practices, so I'm excited to share tips. Thank you for your love and support 💕

    Hey there, I just want to say that we are on the same boat and I totally understand how you feel. I've been there and still there that's why I am taking a long break from RUclips and business. We have 4 kids and will have another baby in 2 weeks and we are still waiting to move into a new house, packing and unpacking, cleaning both houses and buying and selling house, struggling with my are business, tough pregnancy, taking care of teen kids who's struggling with depression ( because of the pandemic...) etc. I had to see a doctor and it worked out okay for a while but I had to stop to see my counselor because of the pandemic. I am fighting hard here myself too. But one thing that helped me was to slowing down and just do my best. Anyways I always enjoy yours and I sometimes wonder how you are doing and check on your channel when I don't see you new uploads. There must be someone like me wonder and care about you even though we don't really know each other. I already feel like you are my friend. I always wish you the best. Also I am so glad that you started making pottery that's what I am going to try with my teen girls when things get better (delivering baby, moving and organizing the house and studio...) Take good care of yourself. You are such a wonderful lady. ^^ Big hugs and love to you from Alaska.

      You're so freakin' strong to be able to keep fighting hard with all of those things going on! Sometimes that's how life is - everything just happens all at once, stressing us the heck out, but hopefully you'll be able to enjoy the sunshine and rainbow after the big storm 💕. Sending much love and strength to you and your whole family, and a big congratulations on your next baby and house. Hope your teen girls love the pottery as much as I do. Thank you so much for being here and commenting 🤗

    You sound like me. I actually watched your videos when I was first getting into Etsy a year and a half ago. I started a shop and it was so successful but it was made to order. It made be over six figures but it was exactly what you were saying repetition. I ended up starting 5 Etsy shops all to help stimulate my creative mind. I ended that shop in December because I wanted to make everything passive and I was so worn out. Now I’m making double what I was all on passive income. For example I haven’t worked all week but still I’m making 600 a day on Etsy. I work on it and create more when I want to. You could absolutely just sell your designs or png files, printable planners etc. I know you probably know all of that. But it has literally saved my sanity to just move everything passive. I still get to create which I love but no more mean customers or getting stressed about orders.

    • @JennyWinship
      @JennyWinship 2 года назад

      And what I couldn’t stand about Etsy is taking a two day holiday literally ruined my sales for weeks. So now I never have to shut down my shops. I’m a single mom to two toddlers too so I get to actually spend more quality time with them vs stressing about all the orders coming in.

    • @TanaMakes
      @TanaMakes  2 года назад

      That's amazing 👏. More passive income is definitely what I'm working on this year 🥲. Especially since I have an audience and have not used that to it's fullest potential. I know so much, especially having worked professionally in graphic design, e-commerce and marketing, but have always let fear hold me back thinking I'm not good enough to make items that others can download and find useful.. Even though I've purchased all of these things before and know how to make them myself 🤦‍♀️. Tired of wasting so much time and energy on soul sucking work when it's become so easy to make money when you have access to a computer and internet.

    Thank you Tana for sharing all of this with us! I have just finished CBT sessions for severe anxiety, and even if your own mental health struggle may be different, I am sure that the psychiatrist will help you so much like it helped me. I would love to hear more about what you are going to do to improve your situation once you get a diagnosis, but of course only if you feel like sharing it. And I just want to tell you that no matter what your business is about, I'll still be watching your videos because it's not the items that interest me, it's you and your journey and your authenticity! October seems to be a very stressful but exciting (congrats on the house 🤭) month for you and my thoughts will be with you! Wishing all the best to you! 💕

    I feel this too…I’m a crocheter, and always get new ideas. But everything takes a lot of work to make and doesn’t sell for enough. I’m not creative enough to make my own patterns to sell, and I’m not camera good enough to make RUclips videos. I also have a 30 hour/week job and 2 kids. So I feel like giving up my maker business every day…but then i get another idea and can’t walk away 🤪

    Oh man I’m sending you lots of love 💖 and light through your journey being an entrepreneur is not easy. Etsy it’s like a freaking nightmare now I feel your pain I had a customer that lied on me and left a bad review and that was detrimental to my business on Etsy and Etsy refused to remove the review they refuse to do anything for the seller they don’t really care about you as a creative. So now I have my own shop. I’m sorry I hope you feel better soon honey. 💖⭐️

    • @TanaMakes
      @TanaMakes  2 года назад

      Thank you! I know - it sucks how often they side with the customers. They really need to support the shop owners more and this new star seller thing is affecting the mental health of even more sellers. 95% or more for each category is ridiculous and I'm now having to respond to messages that really don't deserve responding to, stressing even more than someone is going to leave a bad review... It's so unhealthy. I wish you much success with your own shop. I know it can be hard to walk away from Etsy especially when it can bring in so many sales on its own. Thank you so much for the support 💕
