Great episode! However the audio from your guest was very muffled and hard to understand - recommend ensuring a really good phone connection :) thanks for all you do :)
Every Traitors series has at least 3 Traitors to start off No murders in Episode 4, Episode 6 and Episode 9, so you could count Extra Traitor for each. So Anna and Sam are counting Traitors and realise there must be six. Ironically, this is because of the failed murder in Episode 9 when Brooke tried to take out the Shield. Because when Colin was recruited, they were allowed to cover it by murdering Justine (boooo). So, a stroke of good fortune for the Faithfuls, but hell, they need one every now and again. PS Certain other contestants would have probably just ended the game as they don't count Traitors. If any of us go on the show, Always Be Closin..err Counting Traitors. Right, finished and split it into three so you don't get WALL OF TEXT. Good stuff as usual!
I’ve watched UK 1&2, Australia 1&2 and US 1&2, finally got around to watching New Zealand season 1. I really enjoyed it, especially as the faithfuls were on it from the beginning. What I’m not quite clear of is if they figured out the numbers themselves or if production had a hand. From my impression it seemed like they knew the rules and figured it out themselves, counting the number of chairs etc to deduce what had happened the night before. It rests on assuming there are 3 traitors at the beginning and being correct about it
In my mind, the players in New Zealand had assumed from the get go that there were 3 traitors, and every night there was no murder there was an attempted recruitment, so with with the 3 murderless nights (thanks to anna's shield) they could fairly assume that there were at least six traitors in total. Also a fun thing that I like to do with traitors is assign everyone a Tarot Card in retrospect, (I don't believe in it, it's just a bit of fun.) And Robbie and Kieren were both 'The Hanged Man' with the little tag line of: "Just because you've been set up to perish, that doesn't mean you can't kick"
NZ Ratings Started with about 130, 000 viewers, which is pretty decent for NZ. By end of August (episode 7/8) it was on 494, 000 viewers and won its timeslot. I'm about as cert it'll be renewed as you can be in this uncertain world!
There's a post-Chloe Traitors Trope btw. Anyone who says they are clairvoyant gets murdered by the Traitors instantly, no one is taking the chance again! I feel like Robbie knew she was doomed so became a Traitor TO take a Traitor down. Her "hands up if you're a Traitor" moment had me in stitches. I feel like every Traitor will eventually turn on each other, through paranoia at least. Unless they are Norbert. But he was pretty unique. Charity wise, the winner of French S2 donated their winnings to a domestic abuse charity to help vulnerable people. But they came across as a proper Traitors bloody legend. Matt (Chris Evans) tried to Ralph Wiggum it. If he'd been on Australian Season 2 he'd have probably won... This is probably my favourite English speaking season so far (high bar to replace Oz S1 and UK). So many intelligent Faithfuls. So many nice people. Colin! I'm sort of assuming New Zealand is so small everyone knows everyone though. Btw, if you ever watch the Danish Traitors (ah go on, you'll love it...) let's just say it starts quite badly for the Traitors. Everyone's favourite Traitor Granny (TM) Tine is left to say "this is going s***!" in episode 2!

Obsessed with your Tarot idea! Playing with the different archetypes is a really cool notion.

I will eventually work my way to the other European Traitors! And thanks for clarifying Matt's actual name 🤣
