    Hi, first of all thanks for the video. Can you tell me if the zoom is enough to see the detail of the pins in the cpu socket of a motherboard and adjust them with a tool? Taking a millimeter as reference, how big do you see something like the pin when magnified?

    • @ThriftyAV
      @ThriftyAV  2 года назад +3

      The following link is to a photo I just took of the pins on a broken AMD Duron. This processor is over two decades old, but it should give you an idea of the image you can get.

    None of your imaging shown in this video was anywhere near 1000x. It seemed to be around 10-20x. You might need to install / use the software on the CD that comes with the device to get the higher zooms ...

    • @ThriftyAV
      @ThriftyAV  2 года назад

      The button on mine is labeled "snap" and paired with the right software, it will take a screen capture when pushed. Zoom is just proximity. The closer you are to an item, the higher the zoom. I will not be revisiting this microscope in a future video, as I gave it away. However, there are many other reviews of this item. Hopefully someone has demonstrated the measurement tool.

    can you perhaps tell me how to know what magnification you are using??

    • @ThriftyAV
      @ThriftyAV  3 года назад +1

      There is a calibration ruler that comes with the microscope. I would suggest using the 0.1mm grid, measure the size on output on your monitor or printout, then divide. For example, if your screen or printout shows the .1mm lines 1cm apart, then you are at 100x. I have never gotten close to the 1000x claim on my 32" monitor, even with the lense guard removed.

      As AV shown in his review you don't need an app as you can use the built in camera app from Windows 10 but if you want an app anyway you can download it for free at jiusion.com/pages/driver-microscope but, be warned that you will get what you pay for ;)

      The software included with this device is not required. The Microscope was auto-detected by Windows 10 as soon as I plugged it in. It essentially functions as a webcam and works with camera software such as Windows Camera App or OBS. You could potentially make it your video source on a "zoom" call if you wanted.
