- Day 1 with a senior parrot! I found the PERFECT forever home for this little bird! It's time for Rico the Lineolated Parakeet and Meghan to meet for the first time! Meghan did know that Rico would be coming home with her, but what she didn't realize was that this senior parrot was showing up that day! Rehoming and rescuing parrots is not easy, and finding the right home for these beautiful birds is a complex and thorough process. I know that Meghan is an advocate for senior pet adoption, and had tweeted about getting a Turquoise Linnie just a week before Rico came! This sweet little parrot melted everyone's hearts! We now have a new employee at Parrot Station Headquarters! Welcome to the flock, Rico! We're so excited to have you!

I'm watching with my 96 year old granny and she asked me what kind of bird is that and I tell her, it's a Lineolated Parakeet. Granny nods and says "Oh yes, that's right. A linoleum parakeet." And you NEVER argue with granny! ... so Meghan, congrats on your sweet little linoleum parakeet!

It just dawned on me, how incredibly sweet Rocky really is. He is so fair, in how he shares George with all birds. He is very independent and truly knows how to share. We never gave him any credit. And I’m sure this all comes from being in a good home.
I adore how Megan wanted an older bird. Such a lovely sentiment to give them their last few years blissfully happy xx

I also have a Linnie and he is such a sweetie., yes he can get mad but not very often. It's just him and me so he never lets me out of his sight. I'm a senior and live alone except for my little dog but when she passed away in Oct. 2020 I was very alone being cut off from everyone because of covid. I've had birds of all sizes in my younger years so when I decided i wanted a companion bird I talked to a breeder , explained what I wanted and she recommended a Linnie. I'd never heard of them but after a long talk with her I agreed that was the one for me. He was 9 weeks old and hand raised and I fell in love at first sight. They are a remarkable little companion bird for sure. We are best friends and because I'm home a lot we spend our days together. He is a little green jellybean.😊

Lineolated parakeets are my dream birds too! I understand Meghan: they are so sooo cute tiny birds! With sweet little noises!
I'm French, it's very difficult to find them in France: no rescue, few serious breeders.
After 2-3 years of research (searching for linnies, educating myself with birds thanks to you and Bird Tricks channel) my dream will probably come true this summer!
I've just found a dedicated linnies breeder one week ago: he thinks he is going to have babies next month and told me I can adopt if I can wait a little. Fingers crossed, I hope it will succeed!
Rico is a sweet little guy, Meghan will be a dedicated bird mom for sure ❤ ! It was so emotional watching them together!

The little bird seems really sweet. Of course she deserves a loving home. Parrots are some of the longest living birds, the kakapo is believed to be the worlds longest living bird with a 100 year life expectancy and I've heard that there are several parrot species that can manage right around that. That is really cool.
