    Be careful about recommending the battery that comes with the light as a replacement for two AA batteries. The voltage of two AA batteries in series is 3.0V, this battery is 3.7V and can potentially damage sensitive electronics.

    • @NitecoreStore
      @NitecoreStore  7 месяцев назад +11

      Yes! Very fair point, definitely should have used more concise language, was more speaking on how it could hypothetically work with other AA lights, but the battery is custom-built for the MT2A Pro. Could definitely damage other electronics, so that is a definite mistake on my part, thanks for your comment!

    Im ordering about 4 of them and im going to stash them all over the place. They are small enough to fit pretty much anywhere (car, drawer, backpack, kitchen, bathroom, garage, etc.) And they can take the very common AA battery which is awesome. It wont replace my SRT7i but it is going to be great to have an extra light around the house and one on my plate carrier. Love it.

    A reliable instant access to turbo would have been better for me. I understand that it has mode memory but you can forget to set it and that’s not something I want since I want this as a self defense carry

    I just received mine today from Nitecore Store and I am loving it. The mailed one to me last week and it was stolen or fell out as I received only empty envelope. The replacement arrived very quickly. The UHi 20 led is tiny so this has good throw for being such a small light. I tried on 2 AA alkaline batteries it has really decent throw and brightness. I haven’t tried on lithium primary or nimh. I am so tempted to order several more as gifts.
    Thank you Nitecore Store!!

    Regarding the charging cable, it's a USB-C connector at the battery end, but what about at the charging end? I assume it's a standard USB-A which plugs in to most chargers for cell phones and tablets. Since you don't show the charging end of the cable, nor what it's plugged into, I don't know for sure.

    This seems like a direct competitor to the Fenix LD22 V2 with better efficiency in both the emitter and the included battery capacity (both emulate 2 AA end to end, but Nitcore's packs an extra 500 mAh- could you use the Nitecore battery in the Fenix? 3.7 volts vs 3.6 volts). That being said, I'd still prefer the Fenix due to more lighting modes (and an all-important ultra-low at 2 lumens), momentary capable forward clicky rear switch, and I prefer the simple on/off from the rear switch with another switch for mode selection.

      Next time give it a 1 or half lumen mode too. A light this small deserves a lower lumen mode than the 50 and 60 option. It would be the do all. My coast and lux pro just have high and low. You guys added the turbo and the lithium battery so at least it’s got that going for it. P23i is still my go to.

      What is meant by “reverse clicky” 🤨 legit inquiry

    • @NaturalMystic69
      @NaturalMystic69 3 месяца назад +1

      @@yourpalcraig Forward clicky is when you push the switch and halfway through the press the light turns on and THEN it clicks. This allows for momentary on functionality. Reverse clicky is when the click happens before the light powers on. Reverse clicky allows for easier mode switching in single-button lights.
      EDIT to elaborate further after a little Googling:
      Reverse clicky - You have to fully press, then fully release the tail switch button, to get it to turn on, or off
      You have to commit to the output you want, before you turn the light on completely. It'll come on and stay on, with a full click of the switch (even though you haven't yet released the switch).
      Forward clicky - It comes on momentarily, or cycles through different outputs (momentarily) even when you've only pressed the switch slightly), while the light is off.
      With reverse clicky, you generally have to already have the light on, before you can cycle through different outputs - but you can change your mind, after the light is already on, and re-adjust the output without turning the light off, then on again.

    The only issue is that you always have to remove the battery to recharge it.. if only you can charge it outside the unit and it has a circuitry to avoid charging AA batteries

    • @Let_there_be_flashlight
      @Let_there_be_flashlight 6 месяцев назад +1

      It's a tradeoff. A built-in charging circuit in the light is more convenient. But besides the compatibility issue you mentioned, it also results in increased bulk, more prone to electronics failure, reduced waterproofing, and higher costs. For jobs demanding uninterrupted use of the light, charging a backup battery externally, without relying on the light itself, can actually be a better option.

      Might be biased here, but yeah, I agree, 500lm of output is pretty good for a dual AA powered flashlight, especially whenever you factor in the runtime, price, and size of it, I have not done a crazy amount of research but it's pretty much top of the line for AA powered lights

    The reverse clicky switch is the perennial reminder that you are holding a cheap piece of gear in your hand.
    Before the Made in China lights of 2002, all flashlight had a forward clickie switch. A forward switch is build using two springs in opposition, and the forward spring has to have half of the push-force of the reverse spring; the two springs must be calibrated. When China begun manufacturing lights, they removed the forward spring, and the reverse spring had no longer any need to be force-calibrated. They could manufacture a tail switch for ten times less money.
    Flashaholics hate reverse clickie switches more than pee-green light beams.
    I see the use of a reverse clickie as an indicator that this MT2AA Pro flashlight is meant for common people, not flashaholics. It can be imperfect, and non-flashaholics will not notice...
