Red Rock Wilderness Overland Camping & Cooking Indian Food on the Firebox Freestyle Fire-Pit Stove

- Feeling those wonderful Desert Vibes in our 1986 VW 4x4 Syncro Van Camping in a dry creek bed cooking Firebox Freestyle Fire-Pit Lamb Tikka which turned out fantastic. We were also able to use the same hot coals from dinner to bake orange rolls and biscuits with the Firebox Ultra Cook Kit.
When it comes to the outdoors "VIBE" the desert definitely has something special to offer. Don't get me wrong, the forest gives me a very spiritual experience but I seem to get to that place quicker when I'm in the desert. Maybe because its expansiveness and age are more palpable. Somehow, you feel your place in the universe more readily.

The Camp cooking gear I use in my videos are primarily of my own design. I use these trips as an opportunity to test as well as expand my understanding of the products I offer on my website. This also gives my customers a chance to see how I do things to get ideas of how they can better enjoy their Firebox gear.

The word encapsulates comfortable, relaxed and contemplative; all are terms I have used in describing what I sense when watching. Steve, I appreciate the desert, prairies and badlands too; but, my own favorite environment has long been the timberline region where montane forests yield grudgingly to alpine tundra along broken fringes of clutching, withered green fingers. All the better when gaining that transitional ground was preceded by long ascending treks through ancient forest stalwarts!
I am in the process of relocating to the Rockies from western Washington, but the move is motivated more by crowding, politics and economics than any other consideration. As long as my old grey matter remains capable of retaining memories, the fondest of those will feature images of mountains and forests.

Firmly stuck in the rat race, chained to a desk most of the day, weekends spent catching up...To me your life seems like a never-ending dream vacation. Goats, beautiful dogs, a lovely family, trout fishing, and amazing food expertly prepared provide inspiration to us corporate shills and wage slaves yearning to get outdoors but never finding the time. Lamb Tikka was on the menu, but I like nothing more than to see your catch and cook trout deboning skills on display with your one-pan meals. I retire in just a few years, and I hope to enjoy life with my own goats, dogs, and camping gear. Thanks for taking us along.

Stellar video!!! I once went thru Black Dragon with my kids and aging father in our '98 Expedition. My buddy told me we'd make it all the way to the main road in the swell but I had my doubts in spots. I tried to act like I knew what I was doing but I was skeert we were going to walk out of there. I didn't even have a map I was just going on his word. I really like your rig(s). all of them..

Hello from Australia! 🇳🇿 I purchased your firebox folding chef knife. Received it 2 days a go & I think it’s awesome! Already used it to gut & fillet a 35cm Redfin. I think you guys call them just perch or golden perch. & a good feed of yabbies. You call them crawdads. Great knife, razor sharp flat grind, easy to wash & I found out first use that it strikes a Ferrell rod pretty well also. Great knife mate! $160.00 to Australia including postage was worth it to support a great channel with fantastic content. 👍

Since we actually live IN the forest here in Washington, I'm much more at home there than in the desert. Gotta admit though, riding a motorcycle through desert terrain is easier than in the forest, dodging trees and such. Our issue is water, or lack of it. Beautiful video, and especially nice to watch today, waking up to a 5 degree morning with plenty of snow here!
Makes sense, honestly. The desert does offer more openness for sure. Washington is beautiful as well. We have a good amount of snow here in Utah as well, but we need the moisture. Thank you for the comment Alex!! 😊

Having spent 21 years in the dry desert of the Coachella valley definitely I prefer the mountains! There are some nice places in the deserts but I prefer the trees and cooler weather! Where you are we would have called it the high desert which is a better place to be!
