Nobody thinks about how good the sound design is for some games until they try to play it blind. It's amazing what a difference it makes.

24:25 I find an easy way to remember which types are special and which ones are physical in Gens 1-3 is to remember all of the special types currently have a corresponding eeveelution with the exception of dragon.

Man, watching randomized Pokemon games really makes you appreciate how much thought and effort was put into small details like what Pokemon appear where and the moves they learn, because you almost never get these broken battles that end with a race to get "Struggle" in the normal games.

@@cheesylemming The Man is one of Ant's long running rival (if not *the* longest), starting from a stream when Ant was trying to make the "impossible" jump in New Donk City where The Man kept getting in the way, which quickly evolved over the next few streams to blaming everything that went wrong on The Man (rightfully so, as it was The Man's fault lol). It was a very fun stream, I think one of my first actually? I believe it was the no seeing or hearing stream, but my memory is hazy lmao. I just remember we ordered a pizza for Ant. I came over after the blindfolded run, wish I had known about Ant sooner cause I love his content.

I started watching him because of mandjtv’s video on his platinum dmgless run and now he’s one of the main people I watch this is probably my fifth time watching this series XD and I also started playing botw again after I watched his no weapon run because I stopped playing for a year at the last divine beast but know I have way more game knowledge and skill like I was a total noob XD like I didn’t even know how to shield surf or parry etc

This reminds me of when I used to play FireRed on my broken gameboy. It broke in half, didn't have a screen anymore. But i still played with the sound. I memorized the cries of all the pokemon. Since then, i still know all the cries, including newer pokemon cries as well.
This leaves so many questions:
How did you brake it?
Why not buy a new one?
How did you know where you were in the game?
How did you navigate/walk around?
How did you learn new moves, manage items etc?
When you're blind but the voices in your head tell you what to do.
That sounds like it'd make a good story

You should do more Blind/Blind Folded pokemon game speedruns/runs. This was very entertaining and I think a Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum run would be cool or even a Black and White run if you want a challenge or just Sun and Moon because it is a really fun game.

But i wanted to play Pokemon Diamond again. So basically, i did this. using only the bottom screen.

Its been a few years, dont remember why i didnt understand how to exit but oh well. Ill admit using a map for Victory road and Mt. Coronet tho tho... but still.

My brother is blind, pokemon is one of the only games he can play. He plays through the game from hearing. When you walk into walls it makes a noise, and he's memorized the sounds of the pokemon. Unfortunately he's unable to play the newer games since the wall noise only happens the first time you walk into the wall
Has he played any rom hacks? There's a vast hoard of "new" old titles he could still enjoy, plenty without fakemon as welll!

Not many people know that Rocko was inspired as a kid by Koga and his Pokemon. But after a few months as a gym leader he was utterly destroyed by a geodude and thus became a rock type gym leader.
Fun Fact: You can remember which types are Special by remembering the Eeveelutions. As of Gen 7, all Eeveelutions are Special types.

Electric
Dark
Psychic
Grass
Ice
It's all eeveelutions plus dragon. Those are the special types in Gens 1-3.

I would love to play this randomizer, but, you know, with eyes.
It's not hard to set one up. Just gotta download the universal randomiser, a FireRed rom, and an emulator.
(Also, I have a massive list of names and trainer classes that I've been building up for randomisers)
I have since used that randomizer on Platinum, but it prevented trade evolutions from evolving... whether I checked change impossible evos or not... so my machop didn't evolve into machoke :(

How on Earth do you know so many pokemon from their calls, that’s the most impressive thing. I’ve got a pretty good memory for weird stuff like that, but most the calls sound so similar
Some are actually the exact same but the cries are raised higher or lower (I just thought I would share my useless knowledge)

@Franceso Nope, Stall is a generation 4 ability. It only has Keen Eye in gen 3.
I always use one in emerald because of that. It’s great for the early game (especially brawly) and it’s a reliable teammate.
