This episode is still a classic, but I'd really like if they redid this one due to both characters having updated lore at this point. Plus, now that Ragna's story has concluded and most of those "no one knows" can be answered, they can explain Ragna and the Blazblue universe a lot better. Blazblue lore is actually not that confusing; it only seems to be nonsensical due to the writers not explaining it well enough within the source material.

She was just sick and needed to be tended to. It could have been the common cold if you wanted it to, how little importance to the story it has posed so far. Just typical soap-opera sickness. 2.) Terumi possessed Jin, making Jin insane and with the Nox Nyctores, Mucro Algesco: Yukianesa, Jin cut off Ragna's arm. That's the thing about Nox Nyctores: they f**k with your mind! Terumi then kidnaps Saya and Jin and brainwashes both. 3.) As for how Ragna comes into possession of the Azure Grimoire, its been explained in the games. Don't use the anime because its convenient. It was inside the church, and after it was burned down, it happened to be exposed to Ragna in the shape of a jet black head. Delirious and desperate, Ragna reached out to touch it and it dissolved, reforming itself on Ragna's stump of of a right arm to form how we know it today. Rachel, nor Jubei, had any real role in him receiving it, and she certainly didn't magic it onto him. Also, Rachel saved Ragna's life by biting him, giving him vampire blood. 4.) Ragna knew it wasn't his arm, because it felt different. It wasn't a organic, human arm, for one. Jubei had to fill him in on what it was exactly. He didn't know what it was at first. 5.) The Azure grimoire isn't a piece of the black beast, but a Ars Armagus made by Terumi. The effects vary from person to person, and for Ragna its generating body parts of the Black Beast. Terumi has his own, and it creates a soul sucking field around him. 6.) Magic without the use of a Ars is called Sorcery. Socery does not need seithr to use and is much stronger, but only a few people can use it, whereas Magic is something anyone can use with Ars magus. What any form of Ars does is called Magic. Ars requires seithr to operate. (Its worth noting that Azure Grimoire makes seithr and also runs on it). 7.) Jubei went to do his own thing. He left Ragna, Saya and Jin in Celica's care. He didn't need to watch them. Though another explanation is that Jubei trained Ragna to fight and use the Azure Grimoire. It can be assumed that Jubei would continue to act as a father figure to Ragna in that time. 8.) Platinum Dollars. The currency is called Platinum Dollars. Ragna's Bounty is 90,000,000,000 platinum dollars. 9.) BlazBlue is a series that creates alternate timelines when something involving time is screwed with. Ragna does become the Black Beast and would do so in a never ending loop, but Ragna was saved from this viscous cycle by a "Continuum Shift" known as "this chick" or aka Noel Vermillion. Noel didn't exist in all the other timelines. She was literally the only difference and thus the only person who could save Ragna. The continuum shift continues and Ragna survives, creating a new timeline that the series now takes place. In the most recent game, Ragna jumps into the past to learn out a tool he needs, but loses his memory and only remembers his title of Bloodedge. This is why he was able to fight the black beast. the black beast was never prevented, but Ragna does survive. Basically, this never created a massive time paradox because all alternate timelines in BlazBlue are canon.
I know this is late, but I noticed that too. And I think I know why. See, in the case that both characters have super forms, the one that transforms first (we'll call them Character A) is the one who needs it more in the moment - i.e. the character whose base form is weaker than the other's (Character B). Once Character A has done this and most likely surpassed Character B, Character B will need to use their own transformation, which will put them above Character A again. But now they've both used their super forms, nothing else can be done, leaving Character B with the advantage and, consequently, the most likely victory. Does that make sense?

Either Happy Chaos, because the fact he's like the most powerful magic user in the world, but chooses a freaking _gun_ as his main weapon. Like, "Yeah, i could just wave my hand and kill you, but that's boring, so im just gonna shoot you." Or Potikemn, because I just want to see the opponent react to H.P.B (Heavenly Potikemn Buster). You may not realize it, but he's actually a walking Queen reference. I mean, his human name is Frederick, and his last name in the current timeline is "Badguy", thus this is a complete reference to the late Freddie Mercury a.k.a. Mr. Bad Guy ("Freddie" also happens to be the name Aria called him back in the day). His headband has "Rock You" on it, obviously referencing the Queen song, "We Will Rock You." His belt buckle has the word "Free" on it, a reference to the Queen song, "I Want to Be Free". Sol's favorite band is Queen, which is also the favorite band of the creator of both Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, Daisuke Ishiwatari (who also so happens to be Sol's Japanese voice actor). He's not brightest bulb in the box though, he was run over by basically everyone in story, Nirvana is a pretty meh Nox Nyctores overall compared to Rettenjo and Ookami, and also he's easily influenced by Relius who made a perfect clone of himself out of him

It's why I prefer his English VA. Ragna's an edgy-looking guy but has the personality of the straight man in a comedy routine, and the Patrick Seitz swearing when he gets hit fits him so well.

PokeSEGA64 The Nox Nyctores does not possess it's owners nor was Jin possessed at the time.What happened was a combination of Jin's jealousy towards Saya and Ragna as well as Saya giving Jin Yukianesa as a gift.The sword, as a Nox Nyctores, affected Jins mind but only by amplifying his own emotions to the extreme.That's why, to this day, Jin wants to personally kill Ragna since his love for his brother and his jealousy for him are amplified to the extreme until it comes out as a complicated wish to kill.It also explains why he hates Noel, since she looks a lot like Saya.

not really, not gonna say GG plot is all wrapped up with a nice bow, but it doesnt have anything on the level of confusion BB brings to many.the only top confusion GG has is naming choices, but once you get pass that everything else is pretty understandable
I'd say Guilty Gear is more ridiculous but more logical. BB is alot crazier and explores alot of fantasy elements but GG dives into things like quantum physics, objectivity philosophy, and gray morality.
William See the basic thing being said here is that when the one person time traveled to the past to kill sol badguy in the past it wasn't linked to him. It was a timeline that was parallel to his own. In that time line that sol badguy is dead. The same applies to the black beast issue. To make it even easier all events in the past are set in stone, changing the past only creates a branch for a new set of events.The future can't be changed as you know it. According to this hypothesis.
Weston Welch i think it's slightly intentional. ragna is a character who is more designed around interacting with the other characters rather than his own personality(and is one of the few examples of this being done right) so it makes sense to give him a plain look

Hina Face Yea. I love BlazBlue only for the awesome gameplay and the character design. I don't really take much notice of the storyline for them (at least until they decide to fill in all the "we don't know's")...Except Taokaka because at least her story archs are amusing.
Jared Biggers I like playing through the story modes the first time, I just don't involve myself too much in what is happening because I know there's way too many plot holes currently. It's like they're made purposely to have plot holes that are solved in later games, like an anime (which isn't a bad thing). It's just that the games are released way too far apart from each other for me to want to invest in that.

Who would win though. I mean Ky no longer has an Outrage, while Jin is rocking the near limitless range of Yukianesa let alone has the power of order. But Ky is a naturally far more skilled fighting prodigy and possess gear cells now.
it's multiple world line theory... and you only needs to know 2 main ones: *they're from different world lines* 1. *alpha* Ragna loses and became a Black Beast in beta world line 2. *beta* Ragna safe and this is where the main story is focused on, then after he went to ikaruga, he wanted to learn the "truth" in stopping seithr, so he went to the past and he became the man who stop the Black Beast from moving for a year... after that he was brought back to the present...
So.... present Blazblue = Future Trunks' Bad future the Black Beast = Goku's Heart attack, Death's of the Z fighters etc Noel saving Ragna = Future Trunks' saving Goku by giving him medicine for anyone complaining that BB is too complicated.
Actually, we do know how and why with Ragna, it was actually a function of Jin's weapon, which hijacked his mind and heightened his emotions in regards to his brother.
I wouldn’t blame Terumi. Even afterwards Jin is STILL crazy. Threatening to murder his secretary, and asking his love interest (which he doesn’t deserve) to kill one of their allies, and most powerful asset, FOR NO REASON. (It’s Ragna and Ragna triggers a yandere instinct in Jin.) His mind is broken and he really shouldn’t have been in the government position he was in.
Well... he do have backstory but honestly it's not a good or well-written one in my opinion. This is from my very vague memory since I haven't touch BlazBlue in years. Let's see Ragna backstory he was born insides a lab from a Murakumo Unit and he has two younger siblings they were used as experiment and was later saved by Jubei and was sent to a church to live with Celica along with his siblings until they were attack, Celica was killed and his siblings was taken away by Terumi and was saved by Rachel a Vampire and trained by Jubei and S-Class terrorist, become the the root of all evil, become the enemy of everything and- ...I'm just gonna stop there... Wow... I know I skipped a lot of things but whoever wrote him must have some serious power-fantasy-original-tragic-character-issues or something like that. I get that the creator wanna make him a tragic character and all but COME ON this is just sadistic AF. Even Sol got a simple tragic backstory and he came out first.

Can we talk about how genius is was to set this fight in a dark rainy environment to mask the differences in the sprite Art Styles? Or how when both of them activate their dragon/monster abilities they both become dark and shadowy which allows the creators to use silhouette instead of making a new sprite for the form? Good stuff

While Ragna losing was obvious, all of the flaws on the explanation of Ragna's backstory and BlazBlue in general are really aggravating. It's almost like all they did was briefly skim the wiki, decide it was too boring and just watched the anime adaptation. Which by the way, isn't exactly the greatest given all the creative liberties it takes. If you're gonna do this kind of thing, make sure you know what you're talking about. I'm sure a lot of people who know nothing about BlazBlue now think that it's full nonsensical plot holes and unexplained things (granted some concepts like Observers and the Eye of the Azure are given pretty vague explanations, but it's not like it's impossible to understand them after a bit of thinking and reading) because of the absurd innacuracies in this video.

Looking back it's kinda funny how they're not even pretending to be unbiased. DB picking favorites is hardly rare, but Sol gets a full background check, while for Ragna they watched the first two episodes of the anime and called it a day.

I knew Sol would win, but honestly, I like Ragna more as a character. His character development was impressive to me. I like the flawed character, over the perfect badass usually
Wait, the reason that the fight happened was that Sol wanted the 90 billion reward. Just how is he going to prove that he actually killed him after blowing the guy up?
While it's debatable that Sol could kill the Black Beast, he could probably push Ragna far enough to lose control in the first place, and at that point, ending his life would be a mercy. Of course, it would also double the amount of seithr flooding the world and everyone else would also die. But Sol wouldn't, because "he's Sol Badguy." Anyone who can legitimately say something like that is invincible. I still like BlazBlue better, since as an intelligent human being with way too much time on my hands, I can understand the plot as well as the combat system.
Honestly, a rematch would end with the same result though after the Tournament of Champions as one of the matchups in there was Ragna the Bloodedge VS Velvet Crowe (BlazBlue VS Tales of Berseria) though it ended up losing to Sailor Moon VS Madoka in its round, I wouldn't be against Ragna VS Velvet as their stories do match up with each other right down to the whole "Having your sibling be kidnapped or in Velvet's case, killed by the main villain which costed them an arm and they get a more demonic replacement for that lost arm as they wanted to get revenge against that villain for ruining their lives but they gave up revenge once they met a person who looked very similar to the youngest sibling that they had lost in their lives" situation.

This episode is still a classic, but I'd really like if they redid this one due to both characters having updated lore at this point. Plus, now that Ragna's story has concluded and most of those "no one knows" can be answered, they can explain Ragna and the Blazblue universe a lot better. Blazblue lore is actually not that confusing; it only seems to be nonsensical due to the writers not explaining it well enough within the source material.
Sol's story has been concluded as well since Guilty Gear Strive is considered the franchise's swan song much like Central Fiction did for BlazBlue.

1.) Saya's sickness is yet to be revealed, although its not important, as she's clearly over it now. She was just sick and needed to be tended to. It could have been the common cold if you wanted it to, how little importance to the story it has posed so far. Just typical soap-opera sickness.
2.) Terumi possessed Jin, making Jin insane and with the Nox Nyctores, Mucro Algesco: Yukianesa, Jin cut off Ragna's arm. That's the thing about Nox Nyctores: they f**k with your mind! Terumi then kidnaps Saya and Jin and brainwashes both.
3.) As for how Ragna comes into possession of the Azure Grimoire, its been explained in the games. Don't use the anime because its convenient. It was inside the church, and after it was burned down, it happened to be exposed to Ragna in the shape of a jet black head. Delirious and desperate, Ragna reached out to touch it and it dissolved, reforming itself on Ragna's stump of of a right arm to form how we know it today. Rachel, nor Jubei, had any real role in him receiving it, and she certainly didn't magic it onto him. Also, Rachel saved Ragna's life by biting him, giving him vampire blood.
4.) Ragna knew it wasn't his arm, because it felt different. It wasn't a organic, human arm, for one. Jubei had to fill him in on what it was exactly. He didn't know what it was at first.
5.) The Azure grimoire isn't a piece of the black beast, but a Ars Armagus made by Terumi. The effects vary from person to person, and for Ragna its generating body parts of the Black Beast. Terumi has his own, and it creates a soul sucking field around him.
6.) Magic without the use of a Ars is called Sorcery. Socery does not need seithr to use and is much stronger, but only a few people can use it, whereas Magic is something anyone can use with Ars magus. What any form of Ars does is called Magic. Ars requires seithr to operate. (Its worth noting that Azure Grimoire makes seithr and also runs on it).
7.) Jubei went to do his own thing. He left Ragna, Saya and Jin in Celica's care. He didn't need to watch them. Though another explanation is that Jubei trained Ragna to fight and use the Azure Grimoire. It can be assumed that Jubei would continue to act as a father figure to Ragna in that time.
8.) Platinum Dollars. The currency is called Platinum Dollars. Ragna's Bounty is 90,000,000,000 platinum dollars.
9.) BlazBlue is a series that creates alternate timelines when something involving time is screwed with. Ragna does become the Black Beast and would do so in a never ending loop, but Ragna was saved from this viscous cycle by a "Continuum Shift" known as "this chick" or aka Noel Vermillion. Noel didn't exist in all the other timelines. She was literally the only difference and thus the only person who could save Ragna. The continuum shift continues and Ragna survives, creating a new timeline that the series now takes place. In the most recent game, Ragna jumps into the past to learn out a tool he needs, but loses his memory and only remembers his title of Bloodedge. This is why he was able to fight the black beast. the black beast was never prevented, but Ragna does survive. Basically, this never created a massive time paradox because all alternate timelines in BlazBlue are canon.
As soon as Ragna used blazblue I knew he lost. Usually the person who powers up first in these lose.
I know this is late, but I noticed that too. And I think I know why.
See, in the case that both characters have super forms, the one that transforms first (we'll call them Character A) is the one who needs it more in the moment - i.e. the character whose base form is weaker than the other's (Character B). Once Character A has done this and most likely surpassed Character B, Character B will need to use their own transformation, which will put them above Character A again. But now they've both used their super forms, nothing else can be done, leaving Character B with the advantage and, consequently, the most likely victory.
Does that make sense?

For example, you mentioned Sol Badguy. You may not realize it, but he's actually a walking Queen reference. I mean, his human name is Frederick, and his last name in the current timeline is "Badguy", thus this is a complete reference to the late Freddie Mercury a.k.a. Mr. Bad Guy ("Freddie" also happens to be the name Aria called him back in the day). His headband has "Rock You" on it, obviously referencing the Queen song, "We Will Rock You." His belt buckle has the word "Free" on it, a reference to the Queen song, "I Want to Be Free". Sol's favorite band is Queen, which is also the favorite band of the creator of both Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, Daisuke Ishiwatari (who also so happens to be Sol's Japanese voice actor). In fact, Sol's most prize possession is his copy of the Queen album, "Sheer Heart Attack".

1.) Saya's sickness is yet to be revealed, although its not important, as she's clearly over it now. She was just sick and needed to be tended to. It could have been the common cold if you wanted it to, how little importance to the story it has posed so far. Just typical soap-opera sickness.
2.) Terumi possessed Jin, making Jin insane and with the Nox Nyctores, Mucro Algesco: Yukianesa, Jin cut off Ragna's arm. That's the thing about Nox Nyctores: they f**k with your mind! Terumi then kidnaps Saya and Jin and brainwashes both.
3.) As for how Ragna comes into possession of the Azure Grimoire, its been explained in the games. Don't use the anime because its convenient. It was inside the church, and after it was burned down, it happened to be exposed to Ragna in the shape of a jet black head. Delirious and desperate, Ragna reached out to touch it and it dissolved, reforming itself on Ragna's stump of of a right arm to form how we know it today. Rachel, nor Jubei, had any real role in him receiving it, and she certainly didn't magic it onto him. Also, Rachel saved Ragna's life by biting him, giving him vampire blood.
4.) Ragna knew it wasn't his arm, because it felt different. It wasn't a organic, human arm, for one. Jubei had to fill him in on what it was exactly. He didn't know what it was at first.
5.) The Azure grimoire isn't a peice of the black beast, but a Ars Armagus made by Terumi. The effects vary from person to person, and for Ragna its generating body parts of the Black Beast. Terumi has his own, and it creates a soul sucking field around him.
6.) Magic without the use of a Ars is called Sorcery. Socery does not need seithr to use and is much stronger, but only a few people can use it, whereas Magic is something anyone can use with Ars magus. What any form of Ars does is called Magic. Ars requires seithr to operate. (Its worth noting that Azure Grimoire makes seithr and also runs on it).
7.) Jubei went to do his own thing. He left Ragna, Saya and Jin in Celica's care. He didn't need to watch them. Though another explanation is that Jubei trained Ragna to fight and use the Azure Grimoire. It can be assumed that Jubei would continue to act as a father figure to Ragna in that time.
8.) Platinum Dollars. The currency is called Platinum Dollars. Ragna's Bounty is 90,000,000,000 platinum dollars.
9.) BlazBlue is a series that creates alternate timelines when something involving time is screwed with. Ragna does become the Black Beast and would do so in a never ending loop, but Ragna was saved from this viscous cycle by a "Continuum Shift" known as "this chick" or aka Noel Vermillion. Noel didn't exist in all the other timelines. She was literally the only difference and thus the only person who could save Ragna. The continuum shift continues and Ragna survives, creating a new timeline that the series now takes place. In the most recent game, Ragna jumps into the past to learn out a tool he needs, but loses his memory and only remembers his title of Bloodedge. This is why he was able to fight the black beast. the black beast was never prevented, but Ragna does survive. Basically, this never created a massive time paradox because all alternate timelines in BlazBlue are canon.
Umm the azure grimiore is part of the blackbeast terumi used it as a basis for the azure gridiron.

PokeSEGA64 The Nox Nyctores does not possess it's owners nor was Jin possessed at the time.What happened was a combination of Jin's jealousy towards Saya and Ragna as well as Saya giving Jin Yukianesa as a gift.The sword, as a Nox Nyctores, affected Jins mind but only by amplifying his own emotions to the extreme.That's why, to this day, Jin wants to personally kill Ragna since his love for his brother and his jealousy for him are amplified to the extreme until it comes out as a complicated wish to kill.It also explains why he hates Noel, since she looks a lot like Saya.

not really, not gonna say GG plot is all wrapped up with a nice bow, but it doesnt have anything on the level of confusion BB brings to many.the only top confusion GG has is naming choices, but once you get pass that everything else is pretty understandable
I'd say Guilty Gear is more ridiculous but more logical. BB is alot crazier and explores alot of fantasy elements but GG dives into things like quantum physics, objectivity philosophy, and gray morality.

William See the basic thing being said here is that when the one person time traveled to the past to kill sol badguy in the past it wasn't linked to him. It was a timeline that was parallel to his own. In that time line that sol badguy is dead. The same applies to the black beast issue.

Let's see Ragna backstory he was born insides a lab from a Murakumo Unit and he has two younger siblings they were used as experiment and was later saved by Jubei and was sent to a church to live with Celica along with his siblings until they were attack, Celica was killed and his siblings was taken away by Terumi and was saved by Rachel a Vampire and trained by Jubei and S-Class terrorist, become the the root of all evil, become the enemy of everything and-

While Ragna losing was obvious, all of the flaws on the explanation of Ragna's backstory and BlazBlue in general are really aggravating. It's almost like all they did was briefly skim the wiki, decide it was too boring and just watched the anime adaptation. Which by the way, isn't exactly the greatest given all the creative liberties it takes. If you're gonna do this kind of thing, make sure you know what you're talking about. I'm sure a lot of people who know nothing about BlazBlue now think that it's full nonsensical plot holes and unexplained things (granted some concepts like Observers and the Eye of the Azure are given pretty vague explanations, but it's not like it's impossible to understand them after a bit of thinking and reading) because of the absurd innacuracies in this video.

While it's debatable that Sol could kill the Black Beast, he could probably push Ragna far enough to lose control in the first place, and at that point, ending his life would be a mercy. Of course, it would also double the amount of seithr flooding the world and everyone else would also die. But Sol wouldn't, because "he's Sol Badguy." Anyone who can legitimately say something like that is invincible.
I still like BlazBlue better, since as an intelligent human being with way too much time on my hands, I can understand the plot as well as the combat system.

I've played both games and all their sequels. Sol Badguy is the man! He is like the Kratos of fighting games. Don't piss him off or you're dead meat.

Honestly, a rematch would end with the same result though after the Tournament of Champions as one of the matchups in there was Ragna the Bloodedge VS Velvet Crowe (BlazBlue VS Tales of Berseria) though it ended up losing to Sailor Moon VS Madoka in its round, I wouldn't be against Ragna VS Velvet as their stories do match up with each other right down to the whole "Having your sibling be kidnapped or in Velvet's case, killed by the main villain which costed them an arm and they get a more demonic replacement for that lost arm as they wanted to get revenge against that villain for ruining their lives but they gave up revenge once they met a person who looked very similar to the youngest sibling that they had lost in their lives" situation.
