My husband loves Christmas. So I let him decorate the tree the way he wants. Which is a lot of colorful lights and as gaudy as a Christmas tree can be. Makes him happy and I'm ok with that. I decorate our foyer with red and white.
He’s a lucky man! I don’t know if I could be that tolerant ...I’m trying thiugh. He’s had a gaudy hollow plastic Santa that lights for years which I would never normally use as decor. but instead of arguing, I went the Angela Faist route and said “ Sure, if it makes you happy”
Yeah I let my husband do the outside of our house which turns out the exact same way as your tree! Gaudy, colorful, just Christmas crap everywhere! If it were up to me, I would have him put up a simple strand of white lights around the house and maybe a few bushes with white lights only and a pretty wreath on the door. But, like you said, he loves Christmas and he loves decorating outside of our house so I feel like I have to give him his little thing, even though it makes outside of my house look like someone threw up Christmas all over my yard🤮
Enjoy your tips on using ribbon. I’m old fashioned in that our trees’ theme is the story of our family. We collected ornaments from summer vacations or family trips. It’s very special as it reminds us of all those fun times we’ve spent together!
Mine too. I’d love to see a video of how to pull an “heirloom/memory ornaments” tree together so it’s cohesive and intentional. I do have smaller themed trees in other rooms and in my barn. That one is pretty much all horse related items.
I'm old school...green tree with ornaments of 38 years as family....I've downsized too...3 ft tree on table.....Made a star out of scrapbook paper and gold glitter. Now i concentrate on a huge Christmas feast and I decorate my fireplace with decorations from 1990s with updated poinsetta Christmas bulbs ....Not overly done but nice with the lights on garland.
Lol.. I'm down to a 4 ft tree with 40 years of ornaments, not to mention all the new ones since I discovered the $ tree and all these crafty girl's.. I'm thinking about getting a bigger tree this year because I'd like to still put my old one's up and my new one's because they will all work well together.. I love her tree but like you, I'm old school.. 🤗🎄
Me too. Thirty some years of memories on the tree every year. All homemade or gifts. My mother-in-law and I exchanged ornaments for years. Nothing cookie cutter on our tree! Sandy
This year we have moved from a 5BR/3BA 2 living rooms, 2 laundry rooms, kitchen, dining room home to a 1BR/1BA 850 sq ft apt. We just sold our house on Oct. 27th and all of my Holiday decorations are in a container. I’m so depressed about my limit of space and not having any of my ornaments. I think we’re going to have to have a tiny little tree in a corner. I just hope I can get in the spirit. This will be the first year we won’t be celebrating Christmas at our house with all the children and grandchildren. One of my daughters is hosting Thanksgiving at her house and I hope one of them will host Christmas. I’m so sad about it and regret selling our house. 😞🌲
I'm such a traditional kind of girl...I love decorating with all the greenery with red and green. Thanks for all the great decorating tips and sharing with us.
Its gorgeous, I usually fluff all my branches then let "settle" for 24 hours, come back and fluff again. Then I decorate. My kids just laugh at how precise I am with the whole process. It usually turns out nice. I too store my decor by color or theme, I alternate themes every year. I think this year will be my blue Christmas. Blue, white and silver.😘🇨🇦
I rotate my colors yearly too! I have a Christmas room lol. I have all colors and they are all color coordinated too! It helps when I tell my kids to bring up the totes labeled *** and then I have traditional ornaments and stuff I always add! I’m a mom of 5 so my tree is family friendly. I have dabbled with ribbon and. I am going to try your technique! Thanks, your tree is beautiful
I'm getting up in age, like 56. So, I was thinking about grabbing a little bit of Everything each year, so that I will be able to rotate colors and Themes every year.❤ 19:58
I love that you show us you making the bow in real time! So we can hear your thought process and how you work through little speed bumps- thanks so much!
The tree is beautiful! This year I'm switching things up. My livingroom tree will be gold and white, dining room tree will be silver and white. This is new for me, i normally do the traditional green and red. The basement tree will be traditional for my grandson son, childs tree.
Wooow. I was looking for just some basic ideas to decorate my tree.. I'm a newbie with decorating Christmas tree.. I did it only in the last three years, but I feel I'm not good at it. But after seeing your video, I think I'll do a great job this year and not just with basics. Thank you so much ❤🎄
We live in a converted barn and have vaulted ceilings. Our tree is 12 feet tall and looks amazing once decorated.....which usually takes about 3 days to do.
Just now finding this video... fluffing the tree is so much fun for my kids. Probably their fave part. I "had" a 9ft tree. It wouldn't fit in our home. So we put it up in my parents home 2 years ago. My daughter's boyfriend is a welder. He was able to shorten the main stem of our tree and now it fits! Such a blessing!
No theme, I guess just all the ornaments the kids made over the years, gifts from loved ones, etc. I used to want a stylized theme tree but the older I get the more I realize our mismatched tree is our family. Things from my mother in law and my dad who have passed. Baby's first Christmas, second grade homemade stuff. It's all good. I love looking at beautifully decorated trees like this video too. I will look for hours on you tube and Pinterest at stylized trees, but mine is not that, lol.
Mine isn’t either! I use all my ornaments my kids have made and every year I buy us a new family oranament... it’s fun to see the progression of our growing family. 😆💕❤️💚❤️
I have a tree just for memories. Each room has a tree big or small, the kids rooms has all their ornaments that they have made on them. Or I put it on garland.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Fantastic video you really broke down the process well and guided us through every step. I needed that, now l really think I'll be able to elevate the look of my Christmas tree this year. I like to use a scandinavian pallet, red and white and lots of natural pieces, plenty of greenery. I like to use a few traditional decorations too, gingerbread men, candy canes, bells. Not too much of any one thing. I do have some picks too and now I know just where to put them on my tree for maximum effect. I've always wanted to use ribbon in my tree too, you make it look super easy, I'm definitely doing it this year. Love your tree too Liz, everything you do has a little sprinkle of magic over it I'm certain. 😊✨💗💕
Living room complete other than a few more embellishments I’m working on. Even splurged for some candy cane striped stockings, now trying to find a unique way to put names on them. Dining room I will work on this weekend.
Love the neutral theme...your tree looks amazing..and so happy to see a tree that is not heavily flocked... I am doing a woodsy theme...red buffalo check with lots of neutral decorations..
Farmhouse style, red/black buffalo check and black/white buffalo check... with all the rustic galvanized metal... you always do a wonderful job with all your decor decisions! 💕❤️ SIMPLY AMAZING!
I realized last year I had a lot of owls on my tree in the dining room. I do love my owls. I was planning on it to be farm truck with black white buffalo check. The buffalo check got in there but not the trucks. It was all owls, think it was my best tree ever besides the year I did the peacock.
Our tree is always bright, colorful, and gaudy. We never really have a theme. Our tree is decorated with ornaments my kids have made and collected over the years. We add lots of colorful lights. It's always a fun tradition decorating and reminiscing. I love it. However, I always long for a GORGEOUS tree like yours. If we had enough room for another tree, I would definitely be decorating a tree like the one you showed. So inspiring! Thanks for your awesome videos.
I plan to get the little people nativity to go under my tree this year. I have a toddler and I think it’ll be a cute child safe way to incorporate Christ to my tree :)
We get new ornaments each year or make some. We only add on. We have ornaments from throughout the year that have so many memories with them. I think most are nature and crosses. I just change the picks and I LOVE the new tree skirts, they are so much easier to clean under tree and they just look so good. I love the beads and thank you for showing ribbon, I have tried in past but didn't like it just hanging. In the end I get tree ready and do the picks and garland and my kids even as teenagers look forward to putting ornaments on the tree. We play Christmas music or put on a favorite Christmas movie. I love that time in our busy life.
Mine is the same every year...white lights in the interior for depth then colored lights on the rest. Angel on the top my husbands grandmother got for us as newlyweds, 52 years ago. The ornaments are all we have accumulated from our years together and our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren!! Doing a crystal garland this year...
Video Request: A lot of people have variety or ornaments of different styles (including the sweet ones our kids make). Can you show how us how to make those trees look more pulled together? Ive helped a few friends with this and I always suggest a really CUTE ribbon to make a bow for the top of the tree and then run that ribbon through the tree (almost like a garland). Then , use some kind of "signature" ornament to repeat on the tree. Then, mix in all the the other ornaments with those "signature" ones. What do you suggest? Make us a VIDEO?!?!?!?!
That is my tree... a collection of ornaments that my husband and I have collected over the years as well as ones that have been gifted to us from family and friends. I did a video of it on my RUclips channel last year. I will used the same ornaments every year but maybe change out the garland (ribbon or beaded) or do a different tree topper to give it a different look. 🎄🙂
Awww that sounds like a nice tree we are big kids l pray l don’t take over . Christmas is about kids but my perfectionism tries to take over which is not fair and with kids order goes out of the window they love colours. They are open minded.
We have at least 2 trees each year. the kids tree full of school & handmade decorations and then "Mom's tree". This year its a Winter wonderland with snowflakes, icicles, silver and gold balls and a beautiful white, gold & silver plaid ribbon. I'm like you, I reuse items from year to year but change the theme each year by just adding a few little touches. You have a beautiful tree!!
Thanks for making tjis video. I may watch several more times. You made it look easy, something i can do. I have geen 7ft and am liking the white, silver, beads and deco colors you used
Although your tree is very pretty, it doesn’t seem to have memories or favorite family ornaments on it. My theme is “family memories” year after year. Our tree has ornaments that are very old year after year. As we get a new one it usually has meaning or given to us by someone. We don’t do themes that have no meaning to anyone.
I decorate traditional using ornaments handmade and ones given as a gift no theme at all. I call it a memory tree or heirloom. Your tree was lovely. You were lucky...all the lights worked!!!!!
It’s beautiful! I bought a small tree from a resale shop for my apt that doesn’t take up so much space. I found a white w/black rim porcelain pot at the same store. I’m going with the very farmhouse look. White, red, and creams. Maybe a little bit of black. I’m using farmhouse style ribbon. The table skirt I’m using is a red tablecloth with white embroidered winter church scenery that was given to my mom years ago. I couldn’t be more excited. And I am using my white Mary, Joseph, & baby Jesus nativity set that sits on a wood base. Thank you for sharing your beautiful tree.
I don’t have a color scheme or theme. I use ornaments people have given me over the years and think about each person as I’m decorating. We just bought our first house after renting for 11 years, so I am definitely on the hunt for some new things to add to my tree along with my ornaments. Love the bead garland and tree collar! Thanks for the inspiration, Liz!😘
As always Liz, you’re a joy to follow along with. You are a natural at communicating what you’re creating with your tasteful decor ideas! Oh, so early for the tree, yet I understand. You’re an influencer and go by an early calendar to share with all. Thanks again for another of your inspiring videos!
Stunning. South Africans don't really pay that much attention to decorating the tree. Usually its just that horrible tinsel and then gaudy looking decorations, but this year I want to really go out to try and make my tree more of a decor item. I am SUPER excited .
Oh What A Beautiful Christmas Tree !! I enjoyed Your Video.. I'm looking forward to seeing Rest Of Your Beautiful Christmas Decor Videos !! Thank You for sharing. Nancy
Red, white, and green for the main theme and in the bedrooms and bathrooms more of a frosty winter wonderland with icy blues, white, and pink with lots of sparkles 🙌
Storage by color, brilliant!!! My living room tree is nature inspired. This year I'm excited to decorate a 4' tree in my kitchen. The tree I bought is retro pink! I'll be using a shabby-chic style of sweets and tea party in pastel colors to decorate it. I'm really excited about it!
It looks beautiful. I have never done a theme/colored tree. All of my decorations are from my kids when they were young. They either made them in school or my mom gave them in their stockings each year. Thank you for sharing!!!
I just received my Balsam Hill 7.5 ft Christmas Tree today and I am excited to arrange it for the Christmas Holiday. I have onion shape metal mesh ornaments purchased from Pier One two years ago. I will also place glass ornaments in gold and red shiny as well as matte finish. I will be adding some of my red cardinal birds plus I will be adding my clear glass icicles to the tree. I will also add ribbon in the colors of red and gold. I wanted a regal and elegant look this year for my Christmas Tree. Thank you for sharing your inspirational video. Have a great day!
My husband loves Christmas. So I let him decorate the tree the way he wants. Which is a lot of colorful lights and as gaudy as a Christmas tree can be. Makes him happy and I'm ok with that.
I decorate our foyer with red and white.
That's sweet that you let him decorate the tree...no matter what it may look like when he's finished. 😉

Hi Cindy Yeager. It's my pleasure to share. 😄
Holy Christmas! I cannot wait to rewatch this 1000X as I am decorating my tree this year!
Hi Hollie Savage. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to watch my channel. 😍
It's WONDERFUL!! I Love how you did it!!!!
I'm so glad you love it, Esellajessica. Have fun watching! 💕
Stay inspired and have fun crafting, Heather Fitzgerald! 😘
As always Liz, you’re a joy to follow along with. You are a natural at communicating what you’re creating with your tasteful decor ideas! Oh, so early for the tree, yet I understand. You’re an influencer and go by an early calendar to share with all. Thanks again for another of your inspiring videos!
Hi Arvo and Vivian Siismets. I really appreciate you saying that. Thank you for watching my videos. 😍
Stunning. South Africans don't really pay that much attention to decorating the tree. Usually its just that horrible tinsel and then gaudy looking decorations, but this year I want to really go out to try and make my tree more of a decor item. I am SUPER excited .
That's great! I wish you all the best on your project, Tracey-Leigh Hoffman. 😍

Red, white, and green for the main theme and in the bedrooms and bathrooms more of a frosty winter wonderland with icy blues, white, and pink with lots of sparkles 🙌
Hi Vanessa. Thanks for letting me know!💕
I’m doing silver, blues and white. Thanks for the tips. Merry Christmas 🎄
