Why do city keep Haaland on the pitch in games like this when they are 2-0 up instead of subbing him for an extra midfielder or defender to protect the result?
@@zorashkiwith technical players you can still do both. Barca did it with Yaya and Busquets but go on. Arsenal did it with Gilberto and Vieira and still played the best football in the country and 2nd best in the world after Barca then. To Dan's point about Why Pep isn't changing. Ale is correct. Pep is going to ride his "way' to the end. This speaks to the age old issue about Managers. Basically there are two types of Managers. Those that come with a set way of playing or system and those who work with what they have. The latter is not married to any particular style of playing they just figure out what is best for their players how best to use them. The former knows his system inside and out and goes about changing how his personnel play an d if the players can't perform in their system they get someone who does. And this means they have to be at clubs that have the resources to get the players that will make the system go, regardless of cost. Pep is the best example of the former. A system Manager. Carlo is the best example of the latter, someone who finds a way to get the best out of what he has. Pep isn't going to go to a different formation, nor is he going to change his style of play......he's just going to go out and get the players who's skills fit his system. The problem this presents is that it puts pressure on the owners. Why?....... because the owners have to decided what type of Manager is best for their team, which also requires they understand what type of players they are paying wages too. And that is where most of this falls apart for most teams. Since Pep has been ridiculously successful, Owners figure all they have to do is get a guy that plays like Pep with a system (usually some sort of possession and pressing system) and everything will work out. Meanwhile they ignore whether the players they have, fit with the Manager they are going to choose. And most of the time the owners are clueless about their own teams and hire Managers that will fail due to a mismatch of players skills and Manager system.
Ale said it quite correctly i think - this style of play allows "genious" Pep to deploy subpar defenders (not players, defenders) like Pique & Alves in Barca - Walker (until recently) & Akandji (very good defender but quite error prone) without much repercussion
This is why Klopp Retired from Liverpool too much stress and he wanted more time with his family. Now look at Pep he should have left the game at the same time as Klopp... they era is over the players are out of their primes....
Comparing Salzburg to psg is a joke 😂 PSG play really well against city but didn’t get any praise Madrid win to Salzburg but they get all the praise this is joke
PSG should have won more convincingly if they converted most of chances that game. And it should be a clean sheet game because we all know that 2 Manchester City goals were just a "gift" for defense mistakes.
Wow, way to pummel a man when he's down. So rather than get him counselling after his divorce which by the way is happening because of his devotion to City... you want them to axe him
They are guaranteed to go through if they beat Club Brugge as they will pass Club Brugge (on 11 points) as they will have a better goal difference (CB -2 vs City +2). It is not likely that Dinamo Zagreb (currently level with City on points) is going to win by 12 goals or more (if City win).
@ No, they literally don't have to hope others slip up. They are first place outside the playoffs. If they win, they jump Club Brugge into the playoffs on GD, and if they win, the only team currently outside the playoffs who could pass them is Dynamo who are on the same number of points but with a -8 goal difference. Dynamo would have to win by 10 plus the margin City win by to jump them if both teams win.
Stop overrating Rodri's role in this City team. City played the first 9 PL matches without significant Rodri involvement, won 7 and drew 2.
