X-DAN, or χ-DAN if the translation team had bothered to use the Greek letter chi present in the original title instead of lazily replacing it with a latin X, is a song by Chiharu Kaneko. It debuted in Taiko no Tatsujin: Yellow Version on June 1st, 2017, and it served as the second song in the Choujin dan course for that same version later in the year.
Chiharu Kaneko is a composer who began creating music in 2013 after being inspired by a song he heard in SOUND VOLTEX. He then went on to compose for it and win two KONAMI Arcade Championship song contests in a row, bringing us amazing and memorable tracks like Lachryma《Re:Queen'M》 and iLLness LiLin, winners of the 5th and 6th KAC respectively. He is also known for the Yukionna series of songs in SOUND VOLTEX, which WHITEOUT, a popular track of his, is part of.
Outside of that game he has also made contributions to Arcaea, WACCA, Deemo, maimai, O.N.G.E.K.I., CHUNITHM, and most importantly in this context, Taiko no Tatsujin. He's the composer of Aisowarai, G Ishiki Kajou, Shounin Yokk-Q, Ai want U, Amphi♢trite, poxei♦︎DOON and exTORA Trap!!. Including X-DAN, 6 of these 8 songs are rated 10 star difficulty. poxei♦︎DOON is notable as it was the Tatsujin boss song in Green version. It's likely that if you're reading this you know that song already.
As for X-DAN's chart, uh... What do I say? It's a fairly hard song, and honestly, the chart is kind of weird. It's mostly charted to the melody, which is not uncommon but it proves to be a challenge a lot of the time. Some parts and patterns are kind of awkward and it's pretty hard to get decent accuracy on it. I used to hate playing it, but I grew to love it.
