Dam, what a totally rad build. I love their furbaby. She reminds me of one of the best dogs we EVER had when the kids(3 of them G-B-Girl). She was a Britney Spaniel named Turbo. Initially owned by a teen mechanic, thus the name, but it also fit her on-go-constantly personality. She lived to a ripe old age but cancer on her hop took her out eventually. There was no way to operate. 😢 Seeing their dog just had the memories flooding back. This vanhome is not only totally practical, but beautiful as well. And can we talk about that shower. That's what to me looks like a total game changer. Wishing them safe, fun, and happy travels.❤ After posting this I was still thinking about that shower. I don't know if this is possible or not, but it would be totally rad if one of these engineer geeks could invent a shower curtain for the back that you could see out but NO ONE could see in so you could shower anywhere with the back doors open, yet maintain your privacy. Just a thought.
I love the idea of raising the deck because the problem with Tiny watts solar is that if you want a whole roof of solar, you give up the ability to add vent fans on the roof. Raising the deck can theoretically allow adding a vent fan which works kind of like a pc fan with those full glass cases that were famous a few years ago. It would be so good if Tiny Watts can make a deck with a cut out for something like a Maxx air fan or the roof box with some built-in ventilation fan.
Hey Ahmad thanks for your comment! We do off the 500W solar storage roof box where we can incorporate a vent cut out inside the box. That will still allow the vent to open and close and circulate air. Let me know if you have further questions!
These may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love when technical people talk about their builds because they address my main concerns like breaks and suspension for such heavy, modified loads. More please.
This is the best raised roof deck I’ve seen. The upstairs bedroom is an awesome idea especially when she gets mad at you😂 it could be a real marriage saver. There’s another utoob couple who did it but they did the entire length of the roof top and the lid is the solar panels that raise up of course it’s a great idea for full timers. The second roof top bed is best.
Amanda was spot on, in the winter who wants to jump in a river or go hunting for somewhere to go shower when you can just build one into your van or bus. It just boggles me how people can put certain things into their builds which are more want then necessity but think that is more important then a private space for toilet and shower. Idk I just can't work that out. I love this build by the way. They love it and their furbaby can't be away from it for too long lol!! Good on them. Such a comfortable, beautiful van build!!
Great video Jarrod! Thank you for sharing! Matt and Amanda are really amazing people. We are thrilled we got to be apart of their build and help power their adventures off grid. They're truly experiencing solar freedom! -Savana & Wes
A build that shows how one can create a van that for others is a complete 360 from "norm" over engendered but works as the perfect home for them. CASH not sure the "A" should be "affordable " for this but $100k-$200k or less in a multi-million dollar world can be more attainable for those who can afford the multi-million life. Or if you're from California. It's all relative. Congratulations to them for adapting tried and true designs like your lighting to pushing the limits of power usage, storage, generation and experimental/ cutting edge technology. Thanks for sharing builds and creatives like this great couple. 👍
Humans and dogs in very close proximity and snuggled up together is a beautiful bond “ from day one”. I was in a close relationship with a zoo tiger trainer that was mauled by the 600 pound predator. It’s a lovely bond you three have. Mammals are social critters right? They will thrive like this if done properly. Nice build btw! Quantum mechanics rocks! 🌵
Nice!!! I was wondering how they got privacy, with the dog always between them, so that's cool they made a sweet up on the roof!! Lol very nice home on wheels!! Thank you for sharing!!! Much love to you!😊❤
I was LOOKING for a front bed like this. I'd like to do a Murphy bed from the front seats down, like the Murphy bed you had coming down from your garage, Jarrod.
Damn, talk about "everything plus the kitchen sink" build. And with that right at the weight limit, imagine hitting a speed bump going faster than 2 mph.
what r the wishbone pieces he has at the back of the van..for wind ? because I drive my van and every time I come up on a tractor trailer it bounces me around..awesome build!!!
It's an amazing build but I'm still a fan of the K.I.S.S. principle. Why do you need all that extra stuff ? More to maintain and operate. A fixed bed , shower with toilet , all solar , diesel heater, a garage for toys.
Big up front cost and then no utilities expenses isn't a starter home, because starters don't have a lot of capital or credit behind them. This is more the amazing early retirement home - converting existing capital into a comfortable home with no utilities expenses. Also, I want that shower!
I always feel like the people are the same kinds of couples I see on House Hunters: "Oh, she has a blog and he surfs for a living. Our budget is 8 million dollars." HOW!?
So awesome they monitor CO2 …. Might want to test VOC’s because they affect your health as well…. Airthings has great products for multiple air quality issues
I recently switched to a canon r5 and I use a canon wide angle lens. I’ll have to double check but I think it’s the 15-35mm f4. I wanted to get the nicer wide angle with the f1.8 but it was $1000 more and much bigger which makes it harder to travel with
Did he say per hour, because that’s per day. About 1 gallon of diesel per day when system is on full tilt, which is rare that it’s blasting. I run the same system in my tiny home and have a 58 gallon tank. I filled it up half and still haven’t put more in this fall/winter. The tiny in also in Maine so yes it’s need cold enough to run everyday

I absolutely agree with this.

That vans a beast! Love the idea of a recirc….

this is where the bed should be placed !! awesome layout - this is what in my mind for years :)
Nice! Been waiting for this 3rd installment.
What a van!

Absolutely love the engineer-made builds, and this one is awesome! I’m glad that they stopped by to give an update. 😊

I love the different layout - best toilet in my opinion

Cool ceiling from a great inspiration to awesome execution.

Wow. Made my list of reviews to build a future van. Amazing how the last several years have increase the tech for vans.
Great build. Love the unique design with the bed up front
Amazing built!
Beautiful build, love the lighting!!
Top notch! I would do one very similar to this one.
Very interesting rear bathroom almost what I want but the rest of it looks wonderful.
You guys are crazy brilliant... Thank you... Hope to see you out in the StarTruck soon... xo
My three favorite things about this van: the dog, the ventilation system, the 4 camera's.
Overall the van got everything one would need.

Yes! Awesome!
Very very nice !!! Thank you for sharing. Ziggy looks at you two with Love In Her Eyes. 🚐 🚐 🚐
Great build ❤

Great build. Curious to know final build cost!

Nice.
I have to plan meals, and clean. It's tough.
A lot of people do that daily and hold a job.
I always feel like the people are the same kinds of couples I see on House Hunters: "Oh, she has a blog and he surfs for a living. Our budget is 8 million dollars." HOW!?
Oh, he took your design alright. Took it to 11.
What size are those tires? The rears look way wider than my 2500
Nice build. I would put the bed in the ceiling though... more space for the dog.
I would like to know where he got the pieces on the back that help with the swaying the wind correction white plastic pieces thank you
Most likely Amazon but feel free to message him on social media

Random question but what lens/focal length on full frame/apsc do you utilize for van tours?

3:27 hehe
With all that wt. why didn't you go with dual wheels?
Price and availability is my guess
Moustache guy is hot !
People dont use wind power tec. why? Dont existe tecnologie ? Wind power.
Doesn’t generate nearly as much power as solar does. Lot of work for little return
1.5 gallons/ hour of gas for just the heating? So 12 gal. for 8hrs overnight? Run out of gas everyday or 2?? Eeeeek!!
