Arnt kernmantle ropes only for srt? I heard your not supposed to climb on them drt? Just asking ur opinion, cus I use sterling htp snake bite 11mm kernmantle and I ordered mine with a sewn eye and climb srt and drt on it, I got criticized for climbing drt on it,m y argument was why in he hell would they offer it with a sewn eye if u can't use it for drt considering you wouldn't need one for srt and the rope knots fine lol
The very best thing to do is to find another climber that's willing to help you out. If your interested in doing it as a job, companies are always looking for ground crew. That's generally where you'll start off to learn the basics, and when you prove that you have what it takes to climb, they'll start training you.
The best thing to do is watch other climbers, ask what the methods are called, ask for tips and learn as much as you can, research them online and on video, then get gear from the bear necessities at first, climb on your own time, just climbing on ur line and don't think about spurs or cutting at all, then bring the gear in and ask an experienced climber to give u tips and only prune with a hand saw and work ur way up to rop handle, then spurs and removals, don't do what I did and just jump into the fire and try to wing it, I didn't ever get injured bad, but had anxiety every day after my 3rd climb ever and first climb on spurs when I topped a 90' pine with a 372 and then after that the boss thought he could put me in any tree an situation, just Kno ur limits and don't ever let anyone tell you to do anything u are unsure of.

I don't see any reason you can't use it for both
you should try out some 10mm beeline blue, perfect hitch cord for that rope.(srt or drt)
That rope looks so much different up close compared to when you just took it out of the bag
very nice
I really want to get into climbing. But man I don't know what I need to know to do it. I wish I took arbor in high school
