"Rock Me To Sleep"

I wrote this in 1994. My daughters, Emily and Julie, were both superb "babysitters." Emily would come home and tell stories of Matthew, the little boy whom she took care of. One day, for the first time in my life, as Emily spoke, I could feel those beautiful "maternal instincts" that we so often hear about from others. I ran to the keyboard, and, within minutes, the song was out. It was easy because what Emily gave me was so incredibly genuine and heartfelt. I will never be able to repay her for all of the beauty that she shared over the thirteen years that she lived under our roof.
