Same. But I know if they missed out on points and Mahomes just goes down the field on and wins it with a field goal, they'd be criticized for not putting any points on the board. HOWEVER, we ALL know that EITHER WAY, Mahomes was gonna march down the field anyway to put up a matching score - so they should've just chanced it. Chiefs said after the game that if the 9ers had scored a TD, they would've shot for 2pts and who knows, they could've f-uped the conversion and given the win to the 49ers.
But If The 49ers, Had Went For It On 4th Down And Fumbled The Ball Or The Chiefs Defense Stopped Them, Game Over Chiefs Win SB 58 Anyway! So I Understand Kyle Shannahan To Take The 3 Points!

He's wrong the rule change didn't come into play, if the 49rs scored a TD which they didn't the Chiefs would still get a possession. The previous OT rules before the change 2 years ago were if you scored a TD on the first possession the game was over (the Chiefs/Bills outcome) but if you scored a FG the other team got a chance to tie or win the game, which is what happened in this SB. The old old OT rules were first team to score.
They did benefit from the rule change because there would have only been 10 minutes on the clock for OT. The 49ers used about 7 and half minutes to score the FG. The Chiefs would have had to drive the field and score the TD in two and half minutes versus having the rest of the 15 minute period and a full 15 minute period after.

Also, you said the chiefs won the toss knowing the new rules...the 49ers won the toss not the chiefs. It sounds like you are trying to make the chiefs the villain. Isn't it odd that we are talking so much about the new overtime rules when technically no rules came into play differently than the overtime for a regular season game? Sure the rules were there but they didn't technically come into play. The first team went down the field and scored a field goal giving the other team the opportunity to go down and score a TD and end it. I'm neither a Chiefs nor 9ers fan, just observing the back and forth and seeing how different people are swinging the narrative.

Kinda disagree with the notion that the game-winning drive felt inevitable. Chiefs had some games during regular season where Mahomes had the ball with a chance to do a game-winning drive, and the offense failed and KC lost. In this Super Bowl, KC had exactly one TD drive, that was made up of 1 play, which was off the turnover of the punt hitting the 49er player's foot, then their returner couldn't scoop up the ball, and the Chiefs pounced on it. That doesn't all add up to inevitability, unless of course you are using the hindsight of 20-20.
The NFL changed the overtime rule that had been n place forever. On Coin flip. It was up to SF to stop KC and they could not do so as they were walked off as others on last drive the field for open TD..
The Chiefs didn't actually benefit from the rule change. If it was still under the regular season OT rules, the 49ers would have definitely elected to receive, they kick their field goal, and the Chiefs would have still had one position to tie or take the lead. You have to go back to prior to 2010, if I remember right, for a field goal on the first OT possession winning a game.

You know what's the worst part about the Chiefs? They haven't had a bad season yet, so when they do can you imagine the following year after a high draft pick? Sheeesh!!
How do you have 2 mvp candidates, the best tight end, along with one of the best defense in the league and still lose? They clearly have NOT improved ever since they lost to the Chiefs four years ago. Someone needs to be fired.
Mahomes has already proven he's the best of all time....not just 6 straight AFC title games to begin career and 4 SB's and 3 titles.......but its the eye test too.....His arm talent, intelligence, combined with his ability to run when necessary make him the one QB that noone wants to face.....when trailing by 7 points in playoff games Mahomes is 9-2....the next closest is Brady at 10 and 11.....
They didnt benefit from the rule change. Before the change outcome was still the same. The game doesnt end in a field goal, it still had to ti be a td on the first drive in order to end the game.

Her mountains are so tall they reach for the sky With prairies where the green grasses grow. There's billions of trees where wild birds nest With creatures that flourish below. That blue gold called water with which we are blessed As raindrops or crystallized snow; Changes to rivers and fresh water lakes While the winds of our seasons blow. There's the haunt of a whistle from a lonely freight train Racing on ribbons of steel With the harvest of farms and from the factories Balanced in a box on a wheel. Some cities have buildings a hundred stories tall Structures of concrete, glass and steel. A statue in a harbor, a present from France Describes how, inside, we feel. That flag on the moon with red and white stripes Proves America’s dreams come true. A country of heroes who line up to protect The past, the present and the few. We’ll defeat terrorism as it should be fought Never letting Satan’s horde chase us to our door. Safeguarding our borders and system of life As our forefathers sacrificed before. Never be afraid to be proud of America And march with the brave, faithful and just. Refusing to submit to the will of our enemies Standing firm to preserve what we trust. The Super Bowl Champion will be passed around between 4 or 5 QBs over the next decade - Steve Young. and Burrow is 5 - 1 against Mahomes and Allen. stay tuned...
If the Bengals don't invest in their o-line, they're not going anywhere. Burrow is a great QB, and manages to extend plays but he's not a runner. He's the closest to being a traditional pocket passer. He needs protection. The AFC has all the top QB talent - Mahomes, Burrow, Jackson, Allen, Herbert, and now Stroud.

The clock is a moot point in overtime. The SB isn’t ending in a tie. 😄
iirc they 49ers win with old rule (1 OT 10 mins , 49ers lead 3:0 - Clock stikes 0:00 game over) vs The New Rule, Game carries on, 2nd and Goal Ball Chiefs ?
That game was suspicious. Why didn't they run that awesome final play in regular time? I think that play was generated by AI.
You know what's the worst part about the Chiefs? They haven't had a bad season yet, so when they do can you imagine the following year after a high draft pick? Sheeesh!!
They should’ve never changed the OT rules. All to plz fans who were upset about a loss
How do you have 2 mvp candidates, the best tight end, along with one of the best defense in the league and still lose? They clearly have NOT improved ever since they lost to the Chiefs four years ago. Someone needs to be fired.
EXACTLY! SF should have won 2 SB in the last 4 years, and now you got the Lions and Packers, their window might be closed.
Not only was mahomes winning the game inevitable. The kc defense after the season they had and how they looked in the playoffs were the same.
They didnt benefit from the rule change. Before the change outcome was still the same. The game doesnt end in a field goal, it still had to ti be a td on the first drive in order to end the game.
Watch it back Patrick's says in the huddle yellow and then he sees the time on the clock and he starts yelling orange orange orange orange orange orange and I think that was his let's get going key to Quick snap this thing
Kyle Shanacan't
Chiefs didn't force the rule change. Buffalo did. We benefited from Buffalo crying about not winning the coin toss in the divisional game. Thanks, Buffalo!
The Chiefs did not benefit from the rule change. SF only scored a field goal. The Chiefs would have gotten a possession under the old rules also.
Why is florio dressed like a franciscan friar?
Don’t worry florio….keep spouting lies about Andy retiring and EVENTUALLY you’ll end up being right.
exactly. he already said hes coming back😂
The 49ers started the game with trick plays and The Chiefs ended the game with a trick play " ironic ?"
Chiefs are inevitable. Everyone else is playing for second lol
Death. Taxes. Mahomes.
The defense is home grown.
I know. Plus PACHECO and Rice. Imagine they get another WR in the draft? A good one
40 Whiners suck. Nothing better than seeing them lose 😂😂😂
Wow. No one's complaining the refs threw the game. Amazing!
Bills forced the rule change not kc
CHIEFS SUPER BOWL AMERICA POEM - 2024*
America the abundant, the place I was born
I'll cherish till the day I die.
Where the bones of past heroes lie buried in the ground
Who loved her the same as I.
Her mountains are so tall they reach for the sky
With prairies where the green grasses grow.
There's billions of trees where wild birds nest
With creatures that flourish below.
That blue gold called water with which we are blessed
As raindrops or crystallized snow;
Changes to rivers and fresh water lakes
While the winds of our seasons blow.
There's the haunt of a whistle from a lonely freight train
Racing on ribbons of steel
With the harvest of farms and from the factories
Balanced in a box on a wheel.
Some cities have buildings a hundred stories tall
Structures of concrete, glass and steel.
A statue in a harbor, a present from France
Describes how, inside, we feel.
That flag on the moon with red and white stripes
Proves America’s dreams come true.
A country of heroes who line up to protect
The past, the present and the few.
We’ll defeat terrorism as it should be fought
Never letting Satan’s horde chase us to our door.
Safeguarding our borders and system of life
As our forefathers sacrificed before.
Never be afraid to be proud of America
And march with the brave, faithful and just.
Refusing to submit to the will of our enemies
Standing firm to preserve what we trust.
By Kansas City Poet Tom Zart!
Inevitable...especially since it was written in the script that way. And yes, a Kelce td would have made it too obvious, but Purdy and McCafferty knew it was over during OT you could see it on their faces even though they were up 3
ah yess but if the 49'ers had won it would not have been scripted, rigged etc right?
Out coached.
It was Rigged. Of course it felt that way. Joe Biden slipped up and gave the perfect response "JUST LIKE WE DREW IT UP" Thanks Joe.
Is Mike an Idiot? The Chiefs did not force the OT rule change, the Bills did. In fact the Chiefs lost to the Pats in 2018 without getting the ball in OT
Of course it was inevitable. Driving down the field against a scared Steve Wilks isn't tough.
The nfl will be predictable for many years to come with the Chiefs winning the bowl year after year. No other team has no chance! Ha haaaa! Go Chiefs!
enough about experience. shannan has been to the super bowl and in the lead by 10 going into the fourth 3 times
your takes are horrible
McCaffrey has 3..fumbles ..all yeAr .and the punt return..fumble .suspect
God his voice😂
Voice of champions.
Voice of the super bowl MVP, mfers
Inday hinahanap ka Ni Petrang Kabayo 😂
Florio is a documented liar on his rag, PFT, and that clown next to him is a failed QB. One of the worst tandems in sports coverage.
Coulda, woulda, ... chiefs won, stop speculation.
The Super Bowl Champion will be passed around between 4 or 5 QBs over the next decade - Steve Young. and Burrow is 5 - 1 against Mahomes and Allen. stay tuned...
Burrow need to get out of hospital first.that guy made from glass
😂 stop
drugs are bad ok
Y’all love flexing burrows regular season wins vs Mahomes lol 1-1 when it matters.
How can a NFL quarterback professional player not know that in the Super Bowl the first quarter is not the end of overtime therapy should be docked
Corndog on one Mofos!
Scripted maybe?
