To me it’s about showing him he’s not untouchable, bursting his sense of invincibility, and humiliating him so that he gets sloppy and starts showing who he really is. That’s why this trial matters. And I think it has been a huge success so far.
He has never been subtle. Voters voted for him in 2016 as a stunt because they disliked Hillary personally. The media covers him 24/7 as if he were a serious person, and Biden as if he were inferior.

@@johnr5252 I actually just saw several reports saying they objected BEFORE her testimony, asking that specific details about sex acts (including genitalia FFS) not be part of the testimony, as too prejudicial. WAY too much detail (humiliating detail...) about that evening came out. Melania must have laughed, been pissed, laughed...then counted her money....
This all makes me glad to be Australian, and equally as glad to have the electoral system that we have: compulsory voting with preferential voting (it is much harder to suppress the voting rights of part of the electorate with compulsory voting), and I am thankful for the Australian Electoral Commission, a statutory authority that runs the federal elections. This means we have the same system in all states, in all electorates.

Obama decided that charging Bush with war crimes wasn't good for the country. It was definitely a decision where politicians were involved even if politics was not. Of course, had the roles been reversed, Trump would have totally tried to charge Obama if Obama did what Bush did.

I hear Rebecca's argument for being on the offense for health care, but while it's great some of our prescription drugs are cheap, our premiums (plus deductible, plus co-pays) are through the roof. When premiums equal rent while health care profits soar (waves arms)

What political pundits don't understand is that people change over time. They get more and more savvy. You can't play the same record over and over again. Eventually, trump's own voters will get sick of him. It will not come by them seeing policy they disagree with--it will come when they get sick of looking at his stoopid face. Having him on trial is the best way of advancing to that point and getting the voters to move on.

Hello All, I just volunteered to be an election clerk in my Arizona county and have been assigned a job for the upcoming primary in Arizona. I'm an ol' lady, but I figure I can do something to further the efforts to get a clean election and encourage voters. Vote Blue up and down the line!

I disagree with Rebecca Katz (sp?) about the message that voters are better off now than they were under Trump. If Biden or surrogates say negative things about conditions the Republicans will just say “well, there you are, even the snowflake Dems admit that the economy is a disaster.” I am against giving the opposition ammunition. As a former teacher (yeah, I don’t get invited to dinner parties - such a scold) I think it is sad that voters have no appetite for nuance. No need for supporting information from their team for positive or negative claims.
As to his speaking out in court so the jury can hear, why not put Trump in a separate room where he can view the trial by closed circuit? He would have to stay just as he is required to show up for the trail, but his b.s. couldn't be heard or seen by the jury. It would be virtual confinement and yet let him see the proceedings as any defendant has a right to do.
