    I have to say how impressed I am regarding your sawmill, great power balance, a very responsive, snappy operation. As a long time sawmiller myself, the crisp sound of the cut when eveything is good and sharp is music to my ears. Truely enjoy watching and listening. Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)

    I love watching you maneuver your log in position to cut it’s amazing. I recently purchased a lot of redwood for my stairs in my house. I noticed some of the gains were black. I seen the same stains in the redwood you were cutting. Is that somewhat normal. You can’t sand it out. I tried. I love your videos.👍👍👍

      @@michael_3985 yes it’s mineral within the wood! So the Red Oak grows big with not many knots in my area. But certain patches get mineral in the wood. You can buy products to stain the mineral out if you don’t like it!

      I just had a couple of veins on my skirt boards so I was able to hide it behind the stringers. I really appreciate the information and keep that in mind on next project. I love red oak. Love your channel very informative. Thanks 👍👍👍

    The invention of laser levels certanly speeds up the gauging and cutting process.

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill  Месяц назад

      Absolutely! So tbh I’d don’t see laser for the top edger blade. I use the bottom for my point of reference. I look at the face of the next board I’m about to make, as I’m drawing the carriage away from the saw. I’m immediately setting the edger blade widths before I have a chance to see where the lasers are striking the log.

    Looks like less than 100 to go to 13k as of now.....question: is the saw computerized so it knows where to start the cuts to maximize the amount of board feet you get?

  • @jerrydonaldson3269

    That lower Edger Blade sure is quieter with the new teeth.

    Please take a moment and explain why this mill is set up with two vertical saws instead of a larger blade. Are giant blades problematic?
