- May I introduce dnw's Aero Ultimate 4.50 Final Update! It's been a while since the last Aero Ultimate video and I thought I'd upload one. For those who are wondering, Aero Ultimate is THE best Custom UI you can have on the Cowon S9! So many custom widgets (made by dnw himself), having the freedom in how it looks (through custom packs and icon move-ability), a couple customizable options that we could choose to adjust, and 4 available desktops to place icons/widgets on. Augggh! Aero Ultimate makes me so glad I own the Cowon S9, it's what Cowon's original UI should have been! Here's the link to the thread, hope you enjoy the video ;)!

@310richard The player itself does have a shuffle mode, certain music uis do well especially with them.
1st Song = 32 Leaves - Wide Awake
2nd Song = People in Planes - If You Talk Too Much (My Head Will Explode)
No internal speaker and the S9's bluetooth profile is for headphones only (no file transfer or phone connection). Don't let that discourage ya, I plug external speakers to my S9, even my vehicles one. Really good headphones are key as you'll find out that the Cowon S9's Sound quality is unmatched especially with some of it's bbe settings. Iaudiophiles Custom UI's are awesome!
It is actually very smooth actually (you gotta see it in person to really appreciate it). The lag you saw was either my camera trying to focus on the light on the wall (:/) or me "trying" to show off Aero while I'm on my back with the camera above me (sorry, camera shy :p).

@310richard It's pretty easy. As a drag and drop device, you simply download a UI, extract [winrar is your friend], copy the contents from inside the extracted folder to your Cowon S9's System/Flash UI folder - You are then all set! BTW, you can actually have up to 3 main menus that are easily switchable from the ui's themselves. Renaming each mainmenu you copy over to mainmenu1, mainmenu2, mainmenu3 - you can then choose which UI you are feeling for the day!
why is it that every time i exit the custom settings menu my screen goes black and i cant do nothing about it unless i turn in on and off?
A: Sold my 16GB last night, getting the 32GB version as well ;)!
Anyway, 3.50 can ONLY be used on Korean specific S9's (if installed on any other Cowon S9 device it will brick). 1.50 or 2.50 can be placed on any Cowon S9...
A1: Simply go to google and look up "apps and games categorized", there you will find ALL the apps and games on the Cowon S9.
A2: Aero Ultimate G1 is now outdated and you should grab Aero Ultimate G2, it's in the Release Candidate stage now. Just look up in google "aero ultimate g2" ;)!

A: Go to google and look up winrar and download/install that on your computer. Then download the games pack, right click on the files you have downloaded onto your computer, and "extract files". Simply drag (and drop) the folders to the root of your Cowon S9 and you are done. No syncing or anything is required with this device unlike some other people >.>. Awesome device by the way, the best MP3 player I ever bought, best sounding device money can buy! The iaudiophile community is great as well!
A: You can switch between MTP and MSC anytime through the settings menu of Cowon's S9.
Whaat drains the battery fast as well is: High Volume level (anything over 15, I never go over 10), Having the brightest light level (6 is the highest, I never go over 1 - AMOLED is a BEAST on the S9!), and anything that uses the g-sensor (when it's active it uses a bit of battery to function. Certain UI's and games use it). Other wise, like every Cowon MP3 player you get THE best Audio Quality AND battery life than any other device available ( - yes, better than Apple). You'll love the S9!

A: The Cowon S9 main os IS FLASH, Cowon themselves ENCOURAGE Custom UI usage and development (have guides on their own website). I have not noticed the battery being used more by Custom UI's (heck, even Cowon's default is a custom UI) whatsoever as I've already tested it, I can still get about over 40 hours out of the device (50+ hours if you have really crappy bitrate mp3's like below 128kps). Surprisingly, the only time the battery get's drained fast is through Video Watching & Flash Games...

@da1writer1985 so, G2 is the Ultimate? i loaded that.... but it'd really nice if it has the android move screen lock pattern like the H2O uci....
but i like the interface....

A1: Simple Answer... yes. Simply go into the photo viewer of the Cowon S9, find the pic you like, and click on the paint brush icon. It then sets the wallpaper as that. Long answer... Wallpaper UI by Claw. Can't give you a link but just look up "Claw Wallpaper UI v3 Part 2". The rabbit hole in how you want to configure the Cowon S9 the way you want will be up to you with this UI.
A2: Look up "iaudiophile S9 UCI", it will bring you to custom UI's created by the community like this one above ;)!
Damn this is a awesome UCI for the s9 man. Sadly i'm gonna miss it since my s9 is dead =[...but oh well once i get my new one i'm putting this uci on. HELLZ YEA...let just say it's better than ever!
But don't worry they ARE durable but it all depends on how you take care of it. I suggest you get a case if you want to be extra careful with it. Another great thing about the s9 is that is truly COMPLETLY cuztomisable..so if you don't like how the UCI is...then download a new one or make your own...something the itouch or zunehd can't do...and with out growing community...i'm sure they'll be new stuff coming in for the s9..new and better UCIs
the ui looks awsome but a little complicated if i dont like it is there a way to delete it and go back to the original ui?

I suggest you do buy one since the sound quality aint like any other mp3 player out there and it's AWESOME..also with the new JetEffect 3.0 it's something like never before with reverb..makes you seem like you're listening to your artist LIVE. like if you're right there at it's concert or at a club. Anyways going to your question, my s9 died because i dropped it in the sink (idiot me) and then i cracked the screen after that cuz i dropped it hard..
@310richard Yes but trust me, 'nw's work is amazing! If you don't like Aero Ultimate, Aero VTX and H2O are even better!

when u get the 16gb how much memory does it actually have? like my ipod i bought 4 gb and it had like 3.5gb.

I'm really sold on buying it since like 2 days ago been researching on it extensively!
But there is one small issue I heard, a lot of people are experiencing freez-ups when transferring a big amount of files to the device, such as 5gb+, it usually freezes, shuts off and never comes on again!
I heard this has happened to quite a few people, has this happened to you by any chance?
Hey umm if i Download your games and apps pack do i have to separate them or can i just drag them onto the player?

Have you tried using Claw's Wallpaper UI ,as it allows for further tweaking of the device besides Cowon's default. Play with other UI's on the S9, makes a load of difference. The device is pretty perfect to me and plays the audio and movies I have just fine. I'm hoping you aren't wanting AAC or something from the Apple store, there are better alternatives in regards to those. You can also watch .264 movies, just gotta use the right tools. Check out helps on iaudiophile's forum.
I got one S9 (32GB) and I do not enjoy it so much, I mean the firmware is rather weak, Cowon could do it better giving the real access to the hardware and adding support for more audio and video types. In other words, the hardware is the best but the firmware holds it back.
@etherlords88 Updated link to open aero ultimate G2 but in all honesty Chakra is loads better of a UI!
Hell...matter of fact i can even make the cowon s9 UCI look exactly like the zunehd...
@da1writer1985 I have p3 and zune hd. both great player, but DNSE 3.0 in p3 is little bit better than zune hd's sound quality. I mean i have to listen really closely to hear p3's better sound quality.With that being said, i'm nor sure how cowon's SQ will be more superior than DNSE 3.0.

Sorry for the late reply, holiday weekend and all.
A1: If you use the international firmwware, you are then given the choice between MTP and MSC on the fly (through the settings menu of course). International version= 2.50 (one I'm using)
Korean version (useable on ANY S9)= 1.50
DMB ONLY Version (ONLY on Korean models)= 3.50
A2: I am currently selling my 16GB Cowon S9 (w/ Songs and UI's) on ebay for $140. Search Cowon S9 16GB on Ebay, my seller name is da1writer. Selling it for 32GB model ;)!
