I have a colleague at work who knew her back in the day. She said she was quite a scrapper in her youth, often getting into fights after drinking shit like diamond white, at the Metrocentre, with a bunch of other girls. @@sammurray327 '' Plenty of men have done shit like that and hardly anyone bats an eye. '' I struggle to think of any men from a clean-cut pop band who is a role model for kids attacking a black toilet worker and witnesses saying there was racism and them getting away with it. Take That, 1 direction, Boyzone, etc were generally always on their best behaviour. Robbie William only really went off the rails after Take That and having said that he never did harm to others-more himself. ''It's almost expected of boys, especially back then.'' What does that even mean? Brian Harvey[a man] boasted of taking drugs back in 97 and was fired from East 17[a youth-targeted band]. He was also crucified by the media and it ruined the band's image across the media. I'd consider what Cheryl did as much worse as he only talked of his like for drugs-yea it's bad but condoning drugs isn't a crime like her conviction. Again, I struggle to think of any male celeb predominately marketed at kids carrying out such an act of brutality. ''It was only the big deal it was because she was female, there was a racial element to it (found not guilty of that)'' She actually was not found 'not guilty' of that. The bouncer who had heard the racist abuse had spoken to the press before the court so her defense got it thrown out for contempt of court. It was suggested in court (by the defense no less) that the PR persuaded the bouncer to sell a story to the newspaper (probably for financial gain was their angle), which he did do. This allowed the court to dismiss the bouncer's witness statement as contempt of court and the evidence couldn't be used. And no it was not a big deal because she was a woman- had any male member of youth targetted bands like s club 7, 1 direction, etc done similar they'd have been crucified.
@@sammurray327 ''But then, there was a lot of poverty back then and not much to do.'' Sounds like excuse-making or victim-blaming. Like when people blame sexual assault on how women dressed or how they flirted and how the men couldn't possibly have helped themselves. Eh no-Poverty is no excuse for being a thug and what does ''not much to do'' even mean? Cities and towns full of bowling alleys, cinemas, arcades, etc are full of crime and there is plenty to do. What exactly are you suggesting there should be for them to do? She lived in Newcastle-a city, lots more t do there than loving in many of the small towns and villages of the UK. ''I don't believe she's racist and she was young. People grow up and change, especially if given opportunities like she had. I don't think that should be held over her for life, especially if she's not behaved that way since.'' I think you are missing the point. She was convicted of assault. She has never apologised for this. She has always claimed self-defense (despite the courts not agreeing with her) and has always laughed it off and sort of tried to come across as some sort of victim (poor me, I was celebrating my number one and didn't know what a toilet attendant was:cry:). It's very hard for people to let it go when she shows no remorse for it and still claims self-defense, without explaining why it was self-defense. She laughs it off as a drunken altercation and she says that she will teach her kids to do the same thing, which is fine (self defense) but until she can explain in detail why what she did was justified, some people will always think of her as the drunk girl, who high on her own ego, lashes out at the wrong person. Cheryl was convicted of assault and until she explains otherwise, her claims of self defense sound hollow. Her detractors don't bring up her mistake because she has done her time and moved on, they bring it up because she has the image of a sweetheart, who won't accept responsibility for something she did and something she laughs off every time she is asked about it. If she was asked and she said "yes I was drunk and I acted in a way that wasn't right, I apologised, did my time, have never done it again and would always say that Violence is Never the Answer" then I think Cheryl could have won a lot of respect. As it stands, still promoting the whole "self-defense despite the conviction and this is what I would teach me kids to do", just makes her look like an angry chav. Self defense, from my angle, is when another person does or says something that would cause you to retaliate/ defend yourself. Cheryl has claimed self defense but brushes it off as an altercation. Surely if it was really self-defense, she would be able to give a clear account of why she left a woman with severe injuries and she came out unharmed?

It was a terrible decision which alcohol has a large contribution to. We've all done stupid things, eh!

Beaten up a women who was black and said racist stuff whilst being drunk
I felt sorry for Kimberley and Nadine having to stand up whereas Sarah Nicola and Cheryl could sit down Eamon and Fiona could of offered Kimberley and Nadine to sit down and poor Cheryl I've just remembered what she did and she shows lots of remorse for doing it I use to fancy Cheryl back then RIP Sarah Harding

What did Cheryl do, what exactly happened?
Cheryl physically assaulted a black cleaning lady in a nightclub and gave her a black eye
@@greyLeicester
Was Cheryl in her senses when she did this?
@@shsh._- it was said at the time that she called her a 'black b!tch' so the accusation was more serious as race hate is worse than just gbh/assault.
@@beanstaIkjack
But was she drunk?
@@shsh._- I don't see what that has to do with anything other than possibly another charge for drunk and disorderly. If you were drunk when you raped someone, it doesn't mean you get let off.. If I get drunk and punch a woman in the street in the face, being drunk doesn't make it ok
She was drunk, we all do stupid things when we're young and get a sesh, wish people would see the beautiful golden hearted girl she is ❤
Would you say the same if a man did it?
I have a colleague at work who knew her back in the day. She said she was quite a scrapper in her youth, often getting into fights after drinking shit like diamond white, at the Metrocentre, with a bunch of other girls. But then, there was a lot of poverty back then and not much to do. I guess the fight in the toilets was a carry over from that. I don't believe she's racist and she was young. People grow up and change, especially if given opportunities like she had. I don't think that should be held over her for life, especially if she's not behaved that way since.
@@shanefolan Plenty of men have done shit like that and hardly anyone bats an eye. It's almost expected of boys, especially back then. It was only the big deal it was because she was female, there was a racial element to it (found not guilty of that) and in a new group that had a huge amount of publicity surrounding them.
@@sammurray327 '' Plenty of men have done shit like that and hardly anyone bats an eye. ''
I struggle to think of any men from a clean-cut pop band who is a role model for kids attacking a black toilet worker and witnesses saying there was racism and them getting away with it. Take That, 1 direction, Boyzone, etc were generally always on their best behaviour. Robbie William only really went off the rails after Take That and having said that he never did harm to others-more himself.
''It's almost expected of boys, especially back then.''
What does that even mean? Brian Harvey[a man] boasted of taking drugs back in 97 and was fired from East 17[a youth-targeted band]. He was also crucified by the media and it ruined the band's image across the media. I'd consider what Cheryl did as much worse as he only talked of his like for drugs-yea it's bad but condoning drugs isn't a crime like her conviction.
Again, I struggle to think of any male celeb predominately marketed at kids carrying out such an act of brutality.
''It was only the big deal it was because she was female, there was a racial element to it (found not guilty of that)''
She actually was not found 'not guilty' of that.
@@sammurray327 ''But then, there was a lot of poverty back then and not much to do.''
Sounds like excuse-making or victim-blaming.
I don't think that should be held over her for life, especially if she's not behaved that way since.''
I think you are missing the point.
Cheryl isn't racist her best friend is black and her ex- hubby was black, please stop she was drunk I get it was out of order I bet she felt dead of guilty you can tell she feels so bad, actually being serious you can tell she feels bad! Love Chezzy!
