    You have a nice setup. I'll pass on some useful things. We made "S" hooks out of wire clothes hangers for hats, coats, towels, guns, pots and pans, etc. We used Humphrey LP gas wall lights. Low pressure, more safe in a tent than a high pressure lantern. Made hangers to attach them below the tent poles. Used a manifold on the tank for each appliance, stove. (we used replaced acetylene hose inside the tent). Cut masonite boards for your plastic top tables. Washable, hard, and can set a hot skillet on it. (may have asbestos). We cut homesote boards to place between ceiling tent poles to reinforce for snow. Privy: we made a portable one out of 2X4 held together with 1/4 inch machine bolts. Set over a dug pit. I think we could have made them 2X4 below the seat and 1X1 above to save weight. Black plastic around and clear plastic at the roof. 3/4 inch painted plywood for the one holer seat set onto a 2x4 framework bolted to the privy frame. Coffee can for TP to keep from mice and squirrels. Hydrated lime for odors in a 5 gal. bucket. We made a funnel urine shield stapled below the seat of felt paper and buried before leaving. Used wood stakes to keep it upright in wind. Door is separate piece of black plastic. You will thank me for this! At least it gets you out of snow, wind, and rain. If you can find them at an auction somewhere: stackable wooden chairs like used in churches, firehouses, auditoriums, etc. Lightweight and don't take up much room and are nicer for eating at a table. If you can find them, wooden frame, enamel top kitchen tables can modify to remove the legs and attach with bolt/lag screw table hardware. Legs nestle for transport. Top is washable but heat will crack enamel - use with masonite board. Make a plywood shelf under for utensils. Some come with drawers for utensils and silverware, potholders. Make a paper towel holder on end. We had one for cooking on and one for eating on. HD plastic hung on tent wall protects it in cooking area and is washable. Black spring steel paper clips come in assorted sizes and used as clamps for attaching plastic, tarps, etc. Find them at Walmart and at office supply stores. Large size fits nicely over tent poles. Pack some mouse traps. Indoor outdoor carpeting remnants held together with duct tape makes a nice floor. Can be swept and washed with a hose at home. At the end of the day, learn to innovate and do what works best for you. Improve it every year. These are just some things that worked for us in a deer camp in the mountains. If you do go with gas lights, bring welder's assorted needle nozzle cleaners because propane can clog nozzles with a grease lubricant in the tanks. Do not burn newspapers or any papers in your wood stove. Use charcoal lighter instead to start fires. Paper will clog stovepipe screens and cause embers that can burn holes in your tent. Make lists of tasks to do in setup and in what order. Will speed things up and can avoid undoing some things. Can be used to assign tasks. Have a dinner ready to go for the first night.

    Hello Liz, what a fabulous looking area, not much like that in South Australia. Tasmania has places like that and is colder than here. We are now heading towards Summer
    , when we will see temperatures in the low to mid 40's(C). We have already seen low 30"s, so will be hot withing a month or so. enjoy your holiday.

    What the coolest lifestyle to have, you must not have to worry about bears 👍✌🏻🇺🇸

      Brown bears are able to get into cars that are locked and only a house is the answer.

      @lizhayes7474  Год назад

      No bears in that area. There’s some in the mountains but not where we’re at .

    If I were out for a month with my wife and boys, I’d insist on separate tents. Preferably with some some distance between them. It’s baffling to me that you can leave an ice chest open at night up there. All manner of creatures would raid an ice chest, open or closed, here in CA. What an experience for you all!

    • @caseysmith544
      @caseysmith544 Год назад

      Yes, that would be an issue in South Dakota too where I live with native too North American and non native animals/insects.

      😂 we’re pretty good in that area with the critters. We really only have to worry about mice there.
