EXPOSED: the REAL Reasons Russell Westbrook Sucks

  • This video is about Los Angeles Laker Russell Westbrook and why he isn't good at basketball. Russell could easily improve his game by watching this video.
After studying Russell Westbooks best and worst games, I can actually say I learn something new every time. I have realized that he could easily become a top player in the league again by fixing 6 things with his game. I need to also preface that I actually like Russ, I love his loyalty to his teams and the passion he plays with…however…This video is not going to be easy to watch if your name is Russell Westbrook. Your Coaches haven’t held you accountable, but I will.
The first Issues - 1. After studying the film, the first thing I noticed is that Westbrook has two different jump shots, and one has a major flaw with regards to his shooting mechanics. When Russell shoots the ball, sometimes he twists his hand on the follow through. This tells me that the ball is likely being released by his middle and ring finger. This is part of the reason why he has an inconsistent shot as this will cause the ball to spin and go sideways. . That is only part of the problem, he also has a sleight thumb flick in his shot, which is another reason why we so inconsistencies. Any time he has that weird release , you are usually going to see him miss short and sideways.
He does have great balance on his shot and very good energy transfer as he straightens his knees and back at the same time.
    2. Defense doesn’t guard him
    3.Boxing Out
    4.Bad Body Language
5.Turnovers - Led league in turnovers 4 times, was second 5 other times.
    A)Bad hands
    6. Decision Making/IQ

This is a great video on Westbrook, who use to be such a force. It is hard to imagine he has gotten so lazy, which is what most of this is about, especially on defense. Most pros are hungrier than he has become, which is amazing because early on he was nearly unstoppable on the drive in the open court and more than made up for his flaws with his upside of speed and ability to distribute. Like many people in all of life, maybe Westbrook likes sitting on his laurels. He is such a bad fit for the Lakers, a team that does not run as much as would provide the old Westbrook with opportunity to drive or dish. He has never been a great half court offensive guy. He was a stallion in the open court, not unlike John Wall to some extent. Unfortunately, stallions eventually go out to pasture. I am only glad, for now, he is on the Lakers. I am also momentarily pleased with what the Celtics have added...

    • @gooderofficial

Yeah Tom, absolutely! Russ is not a good fit on the lakers because they already have so many shooting issues! He just makes it worse. It baffles me how someone who is so competitive with his spirit, just does not compete on defense at all. Sometime I actually wonder if he has ADHD...

That’s one thing I’ve learned; I’m a small guy who started playing basketball casually maybe 3 or 4 years ago with a COVID year in between, but I make up for my lack of experience and skill in effort and it’s helped me develop higher iq (I’m no lebron James mind you) and specifically everything on the defensive side of the ball; I may not be a bucket getter and might make bonehead plays on offense, but I’m going to hustle back, box out, and play the best defense I can possibly play.
Edit: The reason I said all this is because a lot of the times I felt like the Russell Westbrook on offense, but I’m not gonna throw a hissy fit and cry about it. I’m gonna do my best to make up for it.
