Most main reviews on the 570s give it 5/5. McLaren had a couple of early reviews that were bad which destroyed their reputation but the cars are very well designed and built and are as reliable or more reliable than other Supercars. They are exceptionally good cars
Listening to this cars inherent problems and given it’s replicated across the range it’s hardly surprising then that McLaren road cars have such a bad name. Those faults are very fixable, by McLaren. Thank goodness you didn’t list the engine and transmission, otherwise there wouldn’t have been much left.
All exotic cars have issues that the majority of people cannot afford. It’s part of the status behind them. Buying the car itself is the cheap part; however, it’s the insurance, fuel, and upkeep that most people cannot afford. For example. My uncle has a db11 barely drives it but maybe around town due to needing to look like a regular person for his construction company clients. He says that the car costs yearly 20k and that is only because he barely drives it. Maybe if he drove it a lot it would probably double. That’s a lot a year not counting fuel which is premium and has bad gas mileage due to its v12
It’s a lovely motor, and test drove a second had 570s from the dealer, which is just a mile down the road from my house. What put me off was the ferocious depreciation of Maccas altogether. I know we tend to buy these sort of car with the heart and not with the head, but after all is said and done, I took the safe bet of used 911 (992 4s) maybe in the future when I win the lottery 😂 and I can write off 100k I’ll get one. Second hand of course and with an extended warranty as well 🤣
This is an excellent summation of typical failures. Perhaps the extended warranties is not such a bad deal after all. I drove a 2019 on the track and for many hours on the street. Its performance is amazing and I was a bit sad to give it back.
Great overview. Could be improved by covering cost and hassle involved with fixing these issue. Just because they haven't happened before buying the car doesn't mean they won't happen after.
Great video can I ask you what year it is? Not sure if I missed it on the video.. And what year did the iron out all the kinks as you mentioned in the video? Trying to narrow it down on what year I want to get
Great car and I love it. It may not have these issues frequently but most of the issues are the ones I would not want to have because it's not really self-service friendly
Very true statement, but there are other parties/companies like McMedics that are certified McLaren technicians that can ease the pain of repairs and at a much lower cost than a dealer.
@@cliffwilson6988 I'm good on that. I'm very lucky to have a legendary shop in my area that works on McLaren from repairs to upgrades. That would be the only reason I ever got one is because of that knowing I could take it in and get it looked at by a long time friend
The windshield cracking issue was caused by a supplier problem with the furnace that they were using for many years. They realized much too late that it was not getting up to the proper temperature to fully cure the glass, and this had been going on for years. Vehicles produced late 2019 (November/December 2019) and onward no longer have that problem.
I was under the impression that the major windshield cracking issues tended to be more related to the 720S? I could be wrong, but I haven't heard of many 570S owners talking about this particular issue. And by cracking, I mean they just walk out in their garage one day and there is the crack out of nowhere.......usually starting in the lower corner of driver side. Regardless....it would suck for sure!! (Not as a result of a rock chip or some other piece of road debris)
@@cliffwilson6988 The entire 570S platform and the 720S's were both affected. My 2017 570S developed a cracked windshield and my 2020 600LT Spider arrive at the dealer with a cracked windshield even before I took delivery.
OR.....you could get both which is what I did.....LOL. I will say the C8 is a fantastic car and fun to drive, but the Mac is a whole different animal. My 570S will walk the C8 above 60 every single time. The launches are similair, but the twin-turbo V8's take over and .......SEE YA!
Problem #1 you bought one when you can rent one for the weekend. Sorry i dont deal with all the bullshit. I rent one for the weekend for about 3k and im good.
5 years of ownership and still love my 570S!
How much per year have you spent on maintenance? I’m looking to buy one

Tend to agree with your comment and they've seemed to work out some of the earlier gremlins!
@@cliffwilson6988 They haven't worked out all of the gremlins yet because they still depreciate like before.

Love everything about McLaren cars, apart from the prospect of owning and maintaining one.
💯
Thar's why wealthy people are the frequent customers of these cars.
Car is gorgeous. Would love to see it up against a stock one
Audio perfectly OK this time. Thank you. Great effort, as always.
Very welcome. Thanks for the feedback!

Great overview on the common problems, wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Looks like they really improved from the 12C.

Thanks for this guide! Glad you blurred the license plate; that way the police might get confused when the other black 570s screams by.
These in the UK go for £60-70k 😊 which is not impossible to get am 18 will get one hopefully in a few years
The tow eye cover being missing is a common problem, that’s all I need to know thanks.
Videos are amazing now. Just keep getting better.
what is the purpose of all that hp for a road car?? how fast is fast enough?

@@XennialGuy - damn that sucks and I'm sorry to hear that happened to both your Mac's. I've been fortunate and not had any issues with my 570S.
When putting the 570gt on a two post lift for service. Do you have to put the car in a service mod?
Must be pretty nippy, could see you melting into the seat 😅 900hp and so little weight must be daft on the road.
are these all issues that would be spotted in a PPI?
Your channel is awesome. Love quality video production 👏 👌
Stunning in black.
how does it compare to your GTR ?
Which would you consider more reliable, a gen2 R8 or a 570S?
100% R8 if we're talking reliability alone
@@ScottishCarClan figured as much
I had a Gen2
Maintenance wasn't bad
But I didn't have it long
And those seem to cost more for entry over a 570s
Where do i find the MCLAREN 570S COUPE engine number, where is it located?
Can I ask what have you done to achieve 900bhp
It’s in the video! 😁👍🏼 bit of a list
Just seen it, it’s a mildly built engine which is good to hear and syveccs ecu is the best thing you done.
They seem to make very strong power without too much!
Tutorial for 650s?
What's the intro music??
That's extraordinary,115hp extra from ethanol
3:39 eh, 910 Horse power? I did not know you could tune the motor that high! That's bonkers
Believe it or not this car is now higher than that. Around 1,100bhp with a big charge cooler! We’ll hopefully see it back on the channel in spring.
Yessss 👀
Sounds like a giant headache. Personally I'd get a mid engine Corvette. Still a nice car though. Cheers!

McLaren are havinhg a laugh selling something with this many issues.
Pretty Ridiculous to have such Problems on such an Expensive Vehicle , ESPECIALLY CORROSION 🤦🏻♂️
Ferraris are perhaps THE most famous for ally corrosion
Will stick to a Ferrari - too much nonsense with the Mclaren which is a shame as when working they are great 😢
Well damn with the money McLaren wants for these there should not be any of these problem, cracking wind shields common! Come on!
