@@xavierhouston4650 MK11 I would agree definitely had a few done things that was annoying, MK1 no they righted that ship learnt their lesson for the time being lol. One issue I have brought up though is how they’ve made three iconic characters Chinese. Sub-zero was always half Chinese half American now full Chinese Scorpion (I know it’s a different scorpion) went for Japanese to Chinese & the worst one Raiden who was always zero nationality but if anything he comes from Japanese mythology being made Chinese, makes zero sense. I don’t care about their nationalities just don’t like over thirty years of lore n history changed.
I feel that the problem also lies in the loooong content drought SF6 is experiencing. There has been no new characters or patches to change anything up for almost 4/5 months straight. That is an extremely long time in internet time.
Apart from the absurd prices for costumes, Spy x Family controversy and Ed being DLC in the last game, Street Fighter 6 is doing fine unlike Mortal Kombat 1. The reason why it's not mention now because Tekken 8 has stepped up big time from Tekken 7.
This video exists because you didn't know the Ed trailer was released? I had no trouble seeing it or reactions to it on day one. It feels a little arrogant to say a game is in trouble because you missed a readily available trailer.
Companies are going to have to learn we don't want 4 characters and 2 stages as a year's content for almost the cost of a full game. Honestly killing it for me. Especially if since they get leaked early and are always not personally what I'd want.
yeah, i have a standard not to buy triple-a games at full price and usually wait for like 30% since i just know they likely won't have much content to make up for the money paid and chances are they're buggy to some extent because the code monkeys at the big company won't fix it.
Dang it, I fell for the click bait😐. I played SF6 on Tuesday morning and got ranked matches in no time that ran smooth, with a few of international players mixed in. The Ed gameplay trailer trended on RUclips yesterday (#18 when I looked). Of course I want new characters to drop quicker but SF6 is NOT in trouble.
i agree, i just came back from 3 months of not playing sf6, and the matches are all fast and smooth tekken 8, after a week from launch, all i get are tekken gods who are smurfing, i get less and less newer players since you are mostly matched agains people who i think dedicated their life on the game
It's Ed. I love Aki. I can't wait for Akuma. Ed is just... boring. I hope with a fresh coat of paint for VI he feels good. He looks bland. Want Sagat, Sakura, Crimson Viper (or even Lucia) as a Terry type (shoot rip off Terry, name him Jerry, or Barry.) SF has so many classic characters they don't need to release to many "new" characters. Sodom and Birdie. Hugo. Ibuki. Balrog. Guy. Even bring in Akira and more Rival Schools characters. I really think they need to speed up the character releases. I would love 6 a year.
I believe the release rate of character is slowed down because of World Tour. They need to implement the new character inside of WT and create dialogues, etc that they didn't need to do in the past games. I'd love 6 a year as well, but I doubt it will happen because of the extra work they gave themselves by implementing every new characters to WT
I'd say the opposite for me. Akuma is possibly the most boring character to be hyped for. If anything, it's going to make online matches a lot more annoying. Give me new characters, characters that barely got the spotlight. Not some character they used to be free and treated like some premium Ryu
I think another problem lays in the competitive scene. I think there needs to be more offline events next year to drive up the excitement. No one gives two squats about online events. I know its hard this day and age but I really think it would increase the excitement for the overall game.
The competitive scene exists but it's completely detached from the game. Besides the recent pick'em event, there has been NO in-game advertisement of World Warriors nor online qualifiers, which are done in a separate website. The early establishment of a meta makes online qualifiers besides the big regions less exciting to watch than they already are and there's little motivation to run tournaments if they aren't a qualifier. The views don't reflect that because they are botted but the static chat shows how little traction they actually get.
The main issue of SF6 is the lack of new content for a life service game. In probably over a year, the game only added 4 new DLC Characters to the roster with 3 of them already being characters from SF5, especially Rashid who was in the base roster. And also so far, 1 set of overpriced outfits you can’t buy in a bundle. That’s a *long* wait just fir characters you‘ve already had enough of in SF5. In Season 2, they *really* need to push the gas pedal for fans to catch interest again. I‘m talking adding fan favorites like Dudley or completely obscure characters like Eagle to the game, definitely increase the number of characters per season and add a new mechanic for vererans to have something to dig in again.
@@tonware I made a similar comment on gamefaqs about Ed replacing Balrog and what I got was, "Ed plays nothing like Balrog [and by extension Dudley]" while it's true, they're all three boxers and I doubt all three would get in and in my opinion, Ed is the least intereof the 3.

I think the thing that irked me the most about SF6 was the fight money and the grind you need to do to simply unlock new costumes and colors. You couldn't simply earn it through the online mode, you had to do the story mode which I and probably many people don't have an interest in completing. Who wants to grind out a million CPU fights for a costume?? Basically all there was to do was fight and learn the game but there wasn't really anything to spice things up unless you paid. Meanwhile Tekken 8 has a plethora of characters and customization for said characters out of the box along with a great story mode, along with replays, jukebox with all the music from the series. Don't get me wrong SF6 is a great game with a beautiful aesthetic, it just feels like everything that would give it longevity is behind a paywall.
Theres only one thing I disagree with and its about the story mode. Personally I dont mind fighting a bunch of CPU opponents at all. Plus you got minigames like Scrap Heap 1 and 2, Hado Pizza, Breaking the Boards, etc. The only thing I can agree in regards to story mode.... It is a grind to unlock the costumes. On top of that you need to be connected to the internet to unlock the 2nd costumes that way too or else youre a sitting duck. Its especially somewhat annoying when they already shown the 2nd costumes for all the fighters, so it felt like it should have been there in the beginning. And if they HAVE to be unlocked, at least let us have alternative ways other than paying, like complete arcade mode with a character to get their costume. And it wouldnt be too much either since you got an option to do 12 stages, or 5.
Tekken 8 great story mode? The most generous way to describe it is it's not a terrible Tekken movie. You learn so much about each character in SF6's world tour, but you still learn nothing about Jin in Tekken 8 other than generic Japanese protagonist.
Street Fighter 6 is best played locally against friends, family members and tournament opponents. Playing online on Street Fighter 6 is pointless because Capcom wants you to create a Capcom ID account needed to play online on Street Fighter 6 and that doesn't make any sense.
@@kye4216 What happened was, before the full version of Street Fighter 6 came out, I downloaded and installed the demo version of Street Fighter 6 and I created a Capcom ID account by mistake on the demo version and I can't remember my Capcom ID name and my password. That's why I can't play online on the full version of Street Fighter 6. I'm not worried about Street Fighter 6, anyway. In my honest opinion, Capcom should have ended their Street Fighter series with Street Fighter 5. And if Capcom continues shoving Capcom ID and annoying QR codes down our throats (Including mine), then I have no choice but to retire from Capcom's online fighting games competely.
The biggest problem the new street fighter is suffering from is the fact that most Americans don't have any money in the bestest economy ever. I suspect the rest of the world is having similar issues as well.
This is the same pattern as every street fighter game since street fighter 2 turbo. It's only a matter of time before people start to consider it great again

Hey there, i sell games for a living i can tell you this fighting games sell, but out of Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1 out if the two i sell out of Street Fighter on a normal basis, but as of late i get a lot of MK fans complaining that after the story mode the game is boring. Im not saying one is better, im saying Street Fighter is still selling.
Having to pay for brand ‘new’ fighters & outfits is just stupid and not having OG fighters in the game when the game was released from previous games isn’t smart . DLC is ruining fighting games.
I truly hate all the hyperbole that takes place in gaming. I swear if a game isn’t making Fortnite numbers for 5 years straight, the game in question is immediately in trouble ,if not “dead” 😒
No fighting game is worth $70 when released because they just going keep on adding dlc and charge people for it. I been a street fighter fan since the early 90s and I did not purchase sf6 or the previous sf on release date. I just wait until the price drop.
@DANCERcow yes to be specific I did not purchase sf5 or sf6 or any of the sf game between sf5 and sf6 because of the over price on launch day. Sf5 did come out at $60, which was already overprice, and it was an unfinished product that was rushed out to be released. This was just the regular edition price we are talking about here and not even the bundle edition that was price over a hundred dollars. People didn't get what they paid for at those price but it's your money so do what you want with it.
Missed my point, so now I'll rebuke you with the idea that of what you say is true then Street Fighter 2 was also over priced! And 3rd strike and basically every iteration of Street Fighters 2, 3 and 4! Street Fighter 2 released for $75 which is roughly $165 in 2024 loland that game was bare bones compared to what we've got now!
Announcing all the DLC before the game even came out was their biggest mistake. Both the Aki and Ed trailers would have hit so much harder if it was the first we were hearing about them

As a Capcom fan and overall lover of fighting games since 1991, I gotta say T8 is piquing my interest more than SF6. Last Tekken I played was T3 when it released.
Does it feel that nowadays people are unfairly comparing new games to old ones? I mean yea, T8 just came out so people would play it over SF6 which has been out for a while now but just because T8 is the brand new game on the block doesn't mean SF6 is in trouble. People will chose to play the fighting game that suites them. For all we know. people could grow tired of T8 and go back to SF6 in a couple of months.
They have new blood, the new characters. SF just isn't good at making new characters. Soon as they appear, they are gone/forgotten or DLC. they messed up offering so little in many ways and you have Tekken and KoF come with big rosters from the start. Capcom's greed and hubris.
@@XenOz3r0xT_88 What are you talking about ? if you ignore nostalgia bias, sf6 introduced a new generation better than sf3 did. Sf3 third strike is very highly regarded now, but third strike is the third update of sf3. These days people are hyped over the inclusion of the SF3 series cast, but back in the day they were mostly a bunch of randos that replaced a ton of classic characters and didn't resonate with a lot of casual SF fans of the older games. Alex failed as the new poster. There's is no 3rd strike characters are in the base roster yet all these street fighter 2 characters show up in sf6.
@@Jfray252 that’s third strike. NG was not received well and part of it was you could only pick Ryu and Ken as returning players. Yeah it did get better but you are referring to a game that had plenty of fixes. Second impact made changes that pleased the base and TS refined it further. But speaking it terms of NG, it did flop and the number of returning characters (lack of) did contribute to it.
I never got the comparison between tekken and sf. One is 3d, the other is 2d. Too different, cant be compared. Sf6 is fine aside from a few greedy accesory stuff
I actually like Ed's design in 6. Ed in 5 looks like a normal fighter trying to be another dictator. But in 6 he gives Nero from Devil May Cry vibes a bit. I want interesting characters too, but also want variety in terms of how characters play. Would be nice to get at least 2 more grapplers like El Fuerte and Alex for example. Also I still think SF6 is at least doing a bit better than DNF Dual.
SF 6 just revealed Ed. Capcom is very consistent and paced. The one big mis-step was when they overcharged for those TMNT costumes. With Capcom cup and pro-players liked Daigo on top, new characters every 5 months, SF 6 is going to be around for a while.
Street fighter has a lot less going for it especially since small roster and way easier to learn characters leads to a very dull loop compared to Tekken 8
I feel like a big chunk of it is a drop off from casual players SF5 let you unlock dlc by playing. It encouraged regular grind from players who in turn took more of an interest whether a character was worth the grind and how best to optimize their experience as well. That investment translated into algorithm pushing SF content to users and feeding views. It's a vicious cycle. Players aren't being hooked in, aren't watching videos, creators have less incentive to create and without that wider net of content to catch people there're fewer opportunities for people to be come invested customers. I don't think Capcom have really understood how much creator hype combined with a more generous dlc model combined to help keep SFV relevant for so long. Coupled with how most news about monetization is largely negative they aren't giving people good reasons to cover the game further feeding interest elsewhere
Sf6 is not in trouble at all. It’s just so happens that we have seen the biggest year for fighting games in history. Three of the biggest names in fighting games just released around the same time and are all being explored by fighting game fans. The steam is being shared right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if fans are a bit overwhelmed right now with all the big fighting games. Although, it seems like fighting game fans are getting very disappointed with mk1.
Nah I feel like SF6 and Tekken 8 cater two sides of the spectrum as far as ease of entry goes. But both are great casually and competitively for all players.
To be fair, in this day and age even the most viral things are easly forgotten 10 minutes later so, they would need a new A.K.I or Juri Han on every trailer and even that would get boring eventually so, in part SSF6 might just be facing the cruel nature of the internet.
They should take character creator mode > modify it so you can change only clothes and colors and > create character customization mode just like in Tekken series. this way they still can monetize their Outfit 3 costumes they released as "premium clothes" and people who already purchased them won't feel scammed. And customization does make a game feel fresh and keep it interesting
Why do most of the arguments in the comments seem to boil down to game sales as if that has anything to do with a game’s current health? Look at steam charts. I’m not even going to take a stance on which game is dead, which one is trash, or any of that, but please use actual relevant data when having these conversations. The dick measuring contest over game sales should only matter to the companies that make the games, not the players. In my opinion the two most important things are: A) How many daily concurrent players there are. B) What that number is as a percentage of the all time concurrent peak (to get an idea about what percentage of players are playing the game long term).
As a filthy casual, I was overjoyed that they gave the game a Yakuza-lite story mode. I can create a super-detailed character, and mix n' match character moves to tailor-suit a playstyle. I wasn't expecting but a couple of blocks of Metro City to run-around and uppercut a few random goons, but I quickly found myself getting ganked by roombas and assaulting old ladies. The story was expectedly vapid, but it was quite a refreshing take on a fighting games. But putting myself in the shoes of a competitive player, I can definitely see how SF6 is losing ground. It's a competent fighter, but they're missing so many quintessential marks that Tekken is nailing.
Why is capcom so tame with its dlc when they literally have a GOLDMINE of characters and more they can use from THERE OWN IPS as dlc characters 😂😂😂 why
People here say that SF6 is in a great place - but it could be way better. What SF6 lacks is characters: there are only so few of them. The only reason I'm not playing SF6 right now is because there is only one character that I actually like playing. I'm a casual player and even with World Tour I feel left out - because I have little choice. I don't want to play characters that don't click with me and with such small roster, that has so many archetypes missing or in small supply, it's hard to get into SF6 for real.
People complain about not having new characters, but the same people complain about why there are microtransactions in the first place. I personally think they should have stayed with the current roster and just do proper expansion like Street Fighter 2 to Super Street Fighter 2.
Is this the 90s? No, you pay for characters now. I agree people are sad to complain and then buy DLC, but SF6's roster was kept so small for a reason. Capcom is going to sell a bulk of them and it starts to make sense why the MTX on character outfits made them add DRM over mods. They'd make so much off of milking every bit they can.
Most people would say that is ass backwards. Personally I kinda like that transition better. I never mind going from Street Fighter 4 to Super to Ultra. Especially if they make the expansions cheaper instead full price. But I dont think Capcom is gonna do it that way sadly since they are aware more than ever now on how most feel about the Vanilla to Super to Hyper to Ultra etc.
Not the same. Vast majority of people dont mind paying for things that add to the game experience like characters. As long as the base game feels complete and it's reasonably priced.
Let’s think about that real quick: Sf6 has: - great world tour story (freaking innovative ) -classic arcade mode - even if ppl now are ignoring that, we have Avatar battle, and with that customisation, they did gorgeous work to make them look natural when they use moves (we can talk about it for hours) - battle hub, a great place that makes everything natural - gorgeous mechanic, with drive mechanic you have crazy freedom -a perfect balance in the initial roster - modern commands to help new player out - extreme mode -Arcade classic, where you can play old classic (beautiful) - […] I am stopping; this message is already too long, anyway if this game is dying, then the world is going mad. P.s: I fell like I can play it forever
until the they should take character creator mode > modify it so you can change only clothes and colors and > create character customization mode just like in Tekken series. this way they still can monetize their Outfit 3 costumes they released as "premium clothes" and people who already purchased them won't feel scammed. View count not withstanding, Ed isn’t some sort of a disaster. Right now gamers are emotionally invested in other topics- like hating on the new suicide squad game, wondering about the future if Xbox, growing concerns over losing games that they bought online, etc.
Hype fatigue is a thing, though. Sometimes the best thing you can do for a franchise is to give it a bit of a rest. The people who are enjoying it, are still playing, and the people who are interested in trying another thing, go off and try the other thing. I can think of multiple games I've come back to after trying something else, and falling in love with them all over again. When I've come back, I've realised how much better they do certain things and that's only because I've played other games. SF6 is not in trouble. It will stand the test of time. Capcom need to continue focusing on doing things right, and let the results come.
I think capcom should take the Tekken 7 route..include a guest a character that's actually integrated/essential to the story, the no brainer choice would be SNK's Geese Howard, Street Fighter and Fatal Fury practically existed side by side since the fighting game boom. this would attract KOF fans and probably some Tekken fans as he was well received in there too.
Respectfully disagree. SF has so many characters people want. Guest characters scream desperation and cash grabs. They need to just give the game more content.
@@sancho0813 while it is true that Capcom have a treasure trove of fighting game characters waiting to be used (rival schools for one being criminally under utilised), all of those appeal to folks who are already a fan and probably 30-40 years old and old. @@sancho0813 didn't stop pro players from picking him until when they nerfed him to the ground lol. At the end of the day a well thought off guest character will more likely attract new players. F off to Morrigan dat bitch is in everything including my God dang cereal, Don't get me wrong she is cool. But just overused asf tbh. And I'm sick and tired of her. Even though I mailed her in marvel vs capcom games. Lilith has way more drip, and slept on. Jon Tobain now dat is pure drip. Rose would be great in sf6,Alex I'm kinda sick of him, give us Haggar over him any day. Elena just not interested in miss long legs and her cool silver or white hair. Fei Long is him. R.Mika she can stay her sexy ass in sf6. Please bring Karin back along with Laura, M.Bison, Nash, Balrog omg Sagat,Vega, Sean, Falke, Makoto and Dudley.
They better fix those character models faces first if that's going but capcom is more than likely not going to do it because they don't want to.
Just give us the parts to make them all.

I like SF6, and even played a good 60 hours online with it but im waiting for the characters I actually play to be added.
I have 127hrs and I'm currently playing World Tour.
I feel that the problem also lies in the loooong content drought SF6 is experiencing. There has been no new characters or patches to change anything up for almost 4/5 months straight. That is an extremely long time in internet time.
Agreed
Agreed 100% they are moving extremely slow and it’s making the game stale
Acting like they don't do this with EVERY Street Fighter game. Dedicated SF players considered this normal. The average casual would never understand.
Apart from the absurd prices for costumes, Spy x Family controversy and Ed being DLC in the last game, Street Fighter 6 is doing fine unlike Mortal Kombat 1. The reason why it's not mention now because Tekken 8 has stepped up big time from Tekken 7.
Tekken 8 is obviously copying SF6. Which is actually smart.
This video exists because you didn't know the Ed trailer was released? I had no trouble seeing it or reactions to it on day one. It feels a little arrogant to say a game is in trouble because you missed a readily available trailer.
Specially one that everyone in the FGC was pretty excited for haha
Companies are going to have to learn we don't want 4 characters and 2 stages as a year's content for almost the cost of a full game. Honestly killing it for me. Especially if since they get leaked early and are always not personally what I'd want.
yeah, i have a standard not to buy triple-a games at full price and usually wait for like 30% since i just know they likely won't have much content to make up for the money paid and chances are they're buggy to some extent because the code monkeys at the big company won't fix it.
And little fanboy like you need to learn quality over quantity
A “3 king pack” would get my $ Vega Balrog Sagat

For Capcom to shock me, they'd have to sneak in a DarkStalker character. But good luck with that.
How about a new Darkstalker. FFS. With all the over the top anime fighters and for them to sleep on the Vampire series...

It's Ed.
His trailer looks sick

Nothing wrong with a little mystery. We don't need to know every little detail about the characters.
Street Fighter 6 is best played locally against friends, family members and tournament opponents. Playing online on Street Fighter 6 is pointless because Capcom wants you to create a Capcom ID account needed to play online on Street Fighter 6 and that doesn't make any sense.

@@Jfray252 that’s third strike. NG was not received well and part of it was you could only pick Ryu and Ken as returning players. But speaking it terms of NG, it did flop and the number of returning characters (lack of) did contribute to it.

SF5 let you unlock dlc by playing.
Ech! MK1 is probably in more trouble than SF6
Sf6 is not in trouble at all. It’s just so happens that we have seen the biggest year for fighting games in history.
In my opinion the two most important things are:
A) How many daily concurrent players there are.
B) What that number is as a percentage of the all time concurrent peak (to get an idea about what percentage of players are playing the game long term).
I'm might consider playing if they bring in Q or some legacy Final Fight blood
Tekken 8 earned it's Hype, because it don't need to be a Live Service Game, & you can buy Costumes offline.
Personally for me Ed is the most interesting DLC character so far, proper boxer with psycho power flavor. So not sure what you are talking about :)
Relax. Sf 6 is doing just fine
Let’s think about that real quick:
Sf6 has:

-classic arcade mode
- even if ppl now are ignoring that, we have Avatar battle, and with that customisation, they did gorgeous work to make them look natural when they use moves (we can talk about it for hours)
- battle hub, a great place that makes everything natural
- gorgeous mechanic, with drive mechanic you have crazy freedom
-a perfect balance in the initial roster
- modern commands to help new player out
- extreme mode
-Arcade classic, where you can play old classic (beautiful)

View count not withstanding, Ed isn’t some sort of a disaster. Right now gamers are emotionally invested in other topics- like hating on the new suicide squad game, wondering about the future if Xbox, growing concerns over losing games that they bought online, etc.
An Establish IP like Street Fighter should start with 35 characters.
system and individual character mechanics will suffer with a larger roster

What Tekken, smash bros and MK did was lure in casuals, since SF6 already have modern and dynamic controls specifically targeting those demographics it only makes sense to go all in with the game plan, I am aware how elitist Street Fighter fans are, but financially speaking casual players is where the money at.
And lastly…. All the tekken fans HATED akuma.
@@sancho0813 didn't stop pro players from picking him until when they nerfed him to the ground lol. At the end of the day a well thought off guest character will more likely attract new players. I think KOF became more mainstream in the North America because of their collaboration with Capcom. So I guess it wouldn't hurt. I don't know, just thinking about the big picture, I guess.
@@RonSanPedro83 akuma is definitely still the best character in the game. Every time they “nerfed” him, they inadvertently buffed him. He breaks the game. And the pro scene picked him because it was a free “W” not because they liked him. He was also too technical for casuals to get work out of him. Those players picked negan.
amazing, you spoke for 12 minutes and said nothing.
Sf6 is fine...MK1 on the other hand is on life support
It should’ve been put down from the release of the Umgadi trailer.
Theres also the unresolved plot point from the previous game involving the character G. He was my favorite and I'm still hoping his story will be continued in a later update to VI.
Game is doing fantastic. Better than SFV. Tekken gets buzz because it's new but then everything centers again at SF. SF is always the center of attention in big tournament events. It's always the main game.
Idk buddy this game going more strong then mortal kombat 1😂
They need to add guy and cody from final fight
The game taking place in Metro City makes the lack of Final Fight characters super weird.
I don't see Guy making an appearance since Kimberly is here. She's basically Guy 2.0. Give us Haggar instead.
@@bruce_leon1044 You know Hagger is just gonna be a skin for Zangief
Kimberly can kick rocks.
But this game still killing it…. And the feedback was good on Ed…. I’m actually surprised that a historian like yourself would join the whining crowd that is never happy with anything ..
There’s not a day that go by that I don’t see a tournament with this game that’s absolutely amazing , still combo videos to this day, when sf5 combos was done the first month , I still don’t have anyone of my original mains but can’t help but enjoy this game the same way I did 4, and alpha and sf2
This game has me at awe on how levels are are levels I mean damn! This game is too good no complaints bro
