The best metroidvania since Hollow Knight, with permission of Prince of Persia The Last Crown. Everything in this game is near perfection: gameplay, art direction, story, music. I’m on the last act and everything so far screams masterpiece.
You better prepare for the final boss, because that's one of the best boss fights in the history of gaming. The execution is just immaculate, 11/10 from A to Z. Also it absolutely kicks your ass, never had I spent so much time on 1 boss as for this one.
@pilgrimspromise1132 Yeah, when I played Hollow Knight on Switch, I felt the same way, sad for not getting any achievements. I played Nine Sols on Steam and got achievements. Sad that on Switch, you won't know if you defeated all the mini bosses cause you won't get the achievement for it. That's the only one I can think of that's both nice to get and helpful to know.
Anyone who doesn’t like it and hasn’t beat hollow knight and Sekiro just isn’t the target audience. It can feel impossible at first. The first boss fight took me coming back the next day. But so far I’m very happy with it.
Well, it's a bit more complicated than that. I didn't beat Hollow Knight because I after a while I lost interest. Which never happened with other metroidvanias like Blasphemous and Death's Gambit. Plus I'm a rare case because I absolutely hate FromSoft's games while I platinumed Lies of P and was my favorite game last year. So, I like challenging games in general, but this Nine Sols is the worst I played this year. The control is absolutely inconvenient, unergonomic even. The combat is dull and lacks fun. It wasn't able to motivate me to collect money and skill points because most of the purchasables and skills were uninteresting. And the exploration... It made me anxious because every time I made progress the game punished me with its forced dialogues and boring story. I can't express enough how disappointed I am.
I agree a little bit with the controls being inconvenient. I absolutely loved Hollow Knight because of its world and simplicity. Somehow I cant get into this game. I play for 10-15 minutes and Im already bored. So yeah, not every person who enjoyed Hollow knight will enjoy this game.
Bought Nine sols on release date. I am on the 3rd sol and loving the game. The map is a bit tricky to understand but exploring every corner will help you figure things out. Highly recommend this game
Bought this the other night on steam. Played it for the first time today for nearly 2 hours. It's incredible everything about it's incredible. The level design the music, the story, the gameplay the gameplay loop the Parry not that difficult to do If you mess up you still get credit, The enemy design the game is so good. This is my game of the Year 2024 all day. I also picked up metaphor last night and I haven't played that yet so that might also be in that conversation. Completely different game though.
Great game but the big problem with all metroidvanias is objectives. It's so difficult knowing where you're supposed to go in these open world side scrollers. I loved the story of nine sols but man if you Soto playing for a few days and come back you will have 0 idea of what your objective is and where you're supposed to go...

Yep, there's only one version for PS consoles (both PS4 and PS5), and it looks like a lot of PS4 players are getting crashes 100% of the time in some areas. Devs are competent and communicative, so they'll definitely fix it soon enough. Problem might be with Sony verification, which by itsself might take like 2 weeks. Y'all should be able to play this masterpiece around christmas probably.
@@mikemjp1573 good news, the devs know about the issue and already have a fix, they said it should head out for certification tomorrow so like a week or two and then it’s hopefully all fixed. In my experience I’d say it’s similar in difficulty to hk as long as you have experience with other parry-based combat games like mgr or sekiro. The further you get in nine sols the less and less useful your I frame dash gets which pretty much forces you to parry, so don’t go into it expecting hk combat. Also if you do find the game to be too difficult there’s a story mode that lets you increase/decrease how much damage you do and take while still allowing you to get all the achievements and enjoy the game to its fullest.
Does this get better? The storytelling is kinda meh since you have to read random pages instead of experiencing it more directly. I'm also at the level where I'm stuck dying at the larger lowering elevator, which dying all the time is fine, but it's annoying to have to take 2 min of walking to get back to the elevator.

Most overrated game of 2024 is much more fitting of a title.
As we all know, unfortunately, tensions have been rising between China and Taiwan over the CCP’s growing demand to reunify, while Taiwan refuses to forfeit their independence and sovereignty. China has been conducting more and more aggressive, provocative, military exercises in the Taiwan Strait/South China Sea. Thankfully, neither side has actually initiated any attacks, and I really hope it stays that way and they can come to some kind of peace agreement… A diplomatic solution. I pray that China and Taiwan can set an example to the world, rather than engaging in ANOTHER senseless war! There are already too many wars going on today!
I say all of this to say, instead of going to war, both sides should just continue one upping one another with their video games! lol Sort of like how when some of us idiots here in America have “beef”, they resolve it through rap battles. I mean, it would be cool to see a Taiwan vs China rap battle too, but yeah. First China drops “Black Myth: Wukong”, and then Taiwan hits back with “Nine Sols”! Imagine this is the straw that breaks the camels back (Or should I say the chopstick that broke Panda’s back 😏) but imagine this little competition provokes all out war! Sorry, I shouldn’t even joke about that kinda thing. I must say though, the games coming out of East Asia lately have been insane! Got all the western game devs sweating a bit. lol
