- How to hill the Mandrakes for Flowers From the Hill side quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - Chapter 2.
This quick guide shows how to use Magnify + Fire, plus ATB Boost & First Strike Materia to quickly take down the fiends at the Wildflower Plateau. This is much more challenging on hard mode in Chapter 2 than it was on Easy/Normal/Dynamic difficulty.

I’m late to this video, but lots of battles in hard mode are based around mechanics - you win using the right ones, and lose otherwise. In this case, the setup is perfect, but instead of arcane ward, use lustrous shield on Aerith. All projectiles blocked. This battle was made for it. From there, do as you please - using fire.
I did this too. It's kinda funny that Lustrous Shield is a flower shield. It's almost like the "flower picking" sidequest is telling you to use Aerith's Lustrous Shield ability 😂

I used Fire+Magnify, Fire+Swiftcast, Fire+Magic Focus, First strike, Magic Up, enemy skill and Atb Boost on Cloud with the Genji Glove and Synergy+ Quake on an off character and that did the trick too. One boosted Firaga will nuke 75% of the ads with that setup and the quake will stagger the rest, letting you build more atb and finish stragglers off
the second i saw this video it was immediately clear: hide behind the rocks.
I started the fight then hid behind the rocks, or used them as cover.
i used First Strike materia plus ATB Boost with cloud to fill up two ATB gauges and then i used magnified Quaga (while hiding) and that knocked a lot of them out, then switched to Red and used Stardust Ray and then from there just battle as normal
This is a solid strategy, Magnify Quarga is an absolute beast in Rebirth, so too is Stardust. Thanks!

I put elemental fire on nanaki with first strike materia and chocoking cape and used stardust ray to blow up 80% of them

Second using Red, but with some variation. I used Red with Elemental + Fire. His spin attack from holding down Square is great crowd control and keeps them from pelting you.
I tried it but it doesn’t work it only knocked them down half health then ambushed the video example helped more for me with Aerith
I combined both ways. There's also the materia that gives ATB when an enemy is staggered. It filled Aerith's bars completely every time :p

It's such an outlying quest, scared the hell out of me at first: "Is this how hard mode is going to be??" 😳 Thankfully not!
This fight was ridiculous. Not at all representative of the rest of hard mode. I just spammed magnify + blizzaga with Aerith and Red as much as possible until i whittled them down to a manageable number.
Totally agree with you, it's so so different to the rest of the quests in hard mode!
Me being clearly frustrated yelling at the screen turning to my wife and saying “look and watch how rigged this bullshit is and why I’m so triggered”

Haha, my other half looked at me as if I was going crazy just from the disbelief at how hard that side quest was. Thankfully it wasn't a taste of what was to come for the rest 😅
Also use Aerith's Chrono Aegis it's going to help to keep them off you.
Genuinely agast at being instantly killed by 100 different enemies when I got to this side quest that I had no recollection of being difficult in any manner on Dynamic.
I used Swiftcast and magnify with Ice Materia and had first strike and a Chocboking Cape to do an instant Blizzaga on multiple enemies.
Although it didn't hit all of them.
Steadfast block allowed me regen ATB to do it again and I used the invulnerability frames from my Limit Break as often as I could
Haha, I'm so glad it wasn't just me that was left with their jaw hanging in disbelief! It's a crazy encounter 😲 It's a shame it's not easy to repeat just to test different things, Quaga with your setup would be pretty awesome I reckon.
My Aerith was equipped with fire + MP absorbed, fire + magnify, first strike, ATB boost, ATB stagger, speed up, magic up. I didn't think about equipping the choco cape. That probably would have made it easier. Also dont sleep on Aerith's sheild. I ATB boosted right at the start, used Aerith's sheild weapon ability, and then started blasting. My other party members went down, but Aerith's sheild was the really MVP for me.
This little bugger is laughably one of the hardest fights in the entire game -- outside of Chadly's simulator battles. And ironically it's only in Chapter 2 lmao.

Honestly found this much harder than the entirety of hardmode, the legendary bouts and the like. Tried all sorts of strategies and nothin'
That was fun. Perfect trolling to start hard mode. Guys, these are plants. Give them earthquake. Quaga with magnify wipes them. Maybe swiftcast just in case.
As this was the first manuscript quest I went for, I thought this was how hard mode was going to be. Getting wiped in 5 seconds flat. So far it's a breeze aside from the Dyne fight. Only annoying multi-multi-retry fight. I just moved some materia around until I got it.
Hah! That's what I thought too 😅 I'm just coming up to the Dyne fight myself on hard, something to look forward to 😵 any good tips?
@@TheGameFatherUK Chakra for healing. Elemental + Fire. Steadfast Block*** for generating ATB by spam guarding his machine gun. When he changes phases get away and LOS his Repentance ray beam attack. He does it twice. Hit him quickly with some Fira-Firaga*** + Focused Shot when pressured - to send him to phase 3.
This is where is can go all down hill. His "Hidden Barb" attack is three hit that can end you, but you can strafe bait them and dodge roll as the edge of the attack reaches your inner foot. Mix Genji Gloves for break 9999 (not sure if it helped because...) when he readied "Undying Rage/Phantom Ray" I had LB ready to finish him off. I guess it auto staggered him and the fight was over.
@@TheGameFatherUK I also used Barrier for Phase 2+3, Curaga when desperate, and tried to keep Regen on from the start.

I was literally jaw dropped speechless the first time it happened 😅
First and only fight that made me line-of-sight the enemies - in this case, behind a little ridge so the enemies would move toward me before casting firaga
That's a good shout, it's such a strange outlying set of mobs too. I was like "oh shit, is this a sign of things to come for the rest of hard mode??"

I wish they allowed us to use Classic Mode on Hard. Cloud is an absolute beast with his Punisher attacks & counters on dynamic difficulty with both types of auto attack materia, synergy and auto-cast heal equipped.
Windstorm with Yuffie (while holding the shuriken) for the win. The windstorm disrupts the mandragoras allowing for another windstorm and an aie atb skill by a 2nd character.
3rd character can distract the rest of the mob while you take down most of the mob.

Can be done anytime you get Yuffie (Chapter 7).
Just requires some manual backtracking and doing the odd job to open the route from Junon to the Grasslands.
Not even gonna lie this was actually kinda fun dying to and figuring out how to get them. Arcane Ward 🔍 Blizzaga + synergy Quake dropped me down to 10fps so i could watch them all die in slow motion 😂
I just spammed magnify firaga and use stardust ray with red 13 whenever his atb gauge is full.
This enemy is stronger than the final boss!!

The fact this is only a first boss fight from side quest you were given make you realized you going to expect something worse than this 💀
Hardest battle in game a bunch of flowers.
To be honest, FF7 Rebirth just has dumb difficulty spikes.
Get it in the legendary combat simulator where it belongs 😅

Not because of having to redo them over and over but because it forces you to also max all your needed Materia..
Do you get some special weapons or items for completing hard mode ? or is just for the trophy ?
You get a lot of manuscripts from redoing them on hard mode, then you can complete your Folios. The Platinum trophy also needs the story to be done on hard mode too.

Hahaha, so so true! These flowers and Tifa's cat, Fluffy, are the real end bosses of the game. Both absolutely invincible 😅
red, tifa, aerith. red atb-boost+first strike +stardust ray , luck up*2. aerith first strike arcane ward, atb boost, fira/ga
tifa has atkmatk with crystal gloves, mag+petrify, swiftcast+petrify, mfocus+petrify, as well as synergy+comet.
I also had mag+fire, and elemental+fire on red, but i didn't need to use him beyond stardust ray. Stardust ray will take out a lot of them, and level 2 fire spells from aerith work just as well level 3.

Good setup! I quickly came to realise that Petrify is the GOAT of materia in hard mode, especially with synergy. This works great though, thanks!
I just finished this fight by stumbling upon a glitch. I went over to the rocks and fell down above the water as aerith and just killed them using arcane Ward Plus blizzara spams
I won all the chocolate races but didn’t get that chocokings cape!! Am i missing something?

So there is a reason to reset all your quests for hard mode?
To get all side quests manuscripts.

@@tylocook ikrr i was looking at the play log screen and im like how are there over 100 manuscripts and like only 25 on the chapter selection screen, considering u only get them on hard mode so why couldn’t they show it lol
First sidequest I tried to do in Hard mode and I found out it's fucking brutal that was the moment I gave up replaying the game on Hard mode lmao I'm already done with this game, I might touch it and play it again only if they release a DLC
If it's any consolation, I can't think of any others that are like this one, fairly plain sailing after :)
It's not at all like this throughout hard mode. I think the developers were trolling us

I accidentally got an idea that what if I gave Cloud HP MP materia, because those things hit more than a truck so thereby the limit would fill instantly. And because you're immune during a limit break animation, you still gain more limit as if you were taking damage. And what would you know, you could just spam the limit break on this fight.
Not fool proof however, because you'd still have to gain the first charge of limit without dying such as by parrying or holding guard with Steadfast Block Materia
Could work! It's just a shame that it's difficult to replay it once you've done it to test.
Red wild charge until vengeance gauge is full pop vengeance then stop + magnify stagger
Wow.. this was the hardest fight of the game.. to beat this is all luck. I tried this strategy maybe 10 times before I got it to work.. 😅😅😅
It should be in there as a round for the Brutal simulator fights for sure 😄

Good video, I used first strike, atb boost, the wildfire skill, because it is fire magic that hits multiple enemies and refills your atb bar, arcane ward fire/ice + magnify.
I relied on limit boosts, with Aerith I used Planets Protection to stop damage and Cloud Finishing Touch to loop my limit breaks.

i did it with red very easily after being destoyed with a full party - 5 seconds into the fight and cloud + aerith went down - but not my boy red. A combination of revenge mode, one fira and 2 limit breaks and the flowers were turned to ashe

@@TheGameFatherUK yeah that sidequest is really painfull ;_; had to do it twice, because the first time I did it was not in chapter 13. So I had to redo it on chapter 13 to unlock the final sidequest -.-
This is impossible. Tried a thousand times. I can't fucking do it. When I use ATB Boost with Aerith it doesn't go up.
Ok I did. I succeeded with Red 13, elemental+fire, Chococape, Stardust Ray and then spam his attack. Stardust Ray immediately when it comes up. Don't forget he heals a lot when he kills enemies from his passives in particular, I think. But wow that whole thing triggered me.
What i did was more reckless fr lol, i go into the fight with gotterdamerung on cloud wait for them to bunch up, spin attack and then limit break on all of em and i win. God i hope the one who designed this is fired

magnify quaga in the arcane ward is much faster, u can kill them in 2 casts

Okay I beat it but if this is how cheap the whole game is gonna be then fuck this. Remake normal mode first playthrough was very challenging and hard mode was very tough. This is straight up just BS.
Thankfully, it's just this one quest. The rest are fine, this one is definitely an outlier :)
@@TheGameFatherUK Yeah I just beat the shit outta the Turks so haha they made this very simple flower quest some insane stun lock nightmare 🤣. As for the whole rest of the game there's not too many bosses I can think of that I'm really stressing. Mini games & trying to figure out the bullshit VR stuff is still stressing me though.
@@Streifen1911 If you haven't already, have a look at Optinoobs guides for the Brutal and Legendary VR Combat fights, his guides are excellent! I think the only boss that caused me to rage was Rufus, it just seemed to take forreeeevvvveerrrr to kill him on hard.

It’s all mechanics in hard mode (though still frustrating). I wrote above but this battle requires lustrous shield. The mythril golem boss (spoilers to follow just in case you want to figure it out on your own) was impossible to me until I used the synergy skill iron defense. The battle goes from frustratingly impossible to very, very doable.
