oh - so sorry, just saw this. I never see notifications! I got the pattern from a book, but I don't have many books left any more and couldn't tell you which one, sorry!
well, I didn't do it on dark yarn on purpose. Steeking is pretty complicated and this is the first and only time I have ever done it. I sure didn't want to knit up something else to do it again! This sweater was about 200 hours work. This was more a video for me to remember how to do it again if I had to.
Dear Lori, I knit so I know how much time goes into such a garment and yes, you can't choose colours to suit people. I wasn't inferring that. But if you are SHOWING a technique, it's more useful if the lighting or the colour of the work is easy to see. I'm SURE you didn't do it on purpose, that wasn't my point. (You aren't alone in uploading youtube demos that have dark yarn colours :-) ) I was just saying if you're going to go to the trouble of doing an instructional kind of video in the hope of helping others, it would have been great if the lighting was better and it was more clear. When I do demonstrations, I just do a tiny sample as in a swatch size to show how to do it then it's not so much to knit. I LOVE cardigans, I'm a cardigan addict and learning to do steeking has made a huge difference. Especially for the patterns that you have done - who wants to do purl with colours to carry on the back? not me. Have a great weekend.
Of course! If I had thought of that I would have done it. This video was a spur of the moment thing for me - I had put so much work into the sweater and figuring out the steeking that I wanted to remember how I did it in case I ever wanted to do it again. So I just grabbed the camera and made a quick video of it to help me in the future. I suppose I could have put it as a private video, but even as it is it may help others. :-)
I've never done steeks, so this is new to me, but WOW! I really like this idea. Thanks!
you're welcome!
Wow!!❤❤❤
Gorgeous sweater! Is the pattern available? Thx!

I've been watching steeking and why is it that so many knitters do a demonstration on very dark yarn so it's really hard to see??
