I never understood why people got so overjoyed over *really* old minis. Newer was always better as far as I saw it. Better technology, more experienced sculpting etc etc. I've now reached an age where the latest and greatest miniatures leave me cold and I yearn for the simpler, to my eyes, more characterful sculpts of yore (circa mid 2000's). Oh how times change!
@freshwaterspaceman7194 It’s a strange world isn’t it, I find it’s more down to the individual miniature for me, happy with a nice mix in my collection.
I’d love to hear what your other 2 are. This is some of my favorite content as well, and it’s hard to find consistent fantasy content. Thought Old World would be bigger, but all my favorite channels keep leaning back to 40k. Feel like OW came and went.
@@innocentBystander19I don’t think so. Caught its breath while AoS4 released but the community energy is great. Square Based just put up a video on the topic.
About a month ago, getting hyped for the Dwarf release for TOW, I perused the GW store scenery section and saw this piece, and thought about turning it into a hold entrance just like this! Down to the idea of making something more of a backdrop piece you put on the edge of the battlefield! So cool to see my idea executed like this, glad to see it wasn't that crazy and can look really good! Using the hills is also a great idea for it, create a great setting!
It really look good what u build there :-) When my Hobbyroom is ready my Dwarfs of Karak Kasrkin will get a LOT of terrain. Useing 3D printing and fight underground against rats!💪
Cracking tutorial, definitely will be trying something like that myself. The cork effect works really well, and even better to find some outside for free!
Loved the video and the terrain. Seeing the fully painted army with its own themed board is one of the joys of warhammer. I really hope you make (and film) another piece for them.
Great project, looked like you had a lot of fun, the airbrush worked very well and another look at the Dry Brushes in use which has backed up your review, so I will have a look at the website.
Thank you 🙂 I hope you have the best of fun cracking into your battalion box, there will definitely be loads more Dwarf (and wider TOW) content from me to go with all the stuff I’ve done already 🙂.
Great job, working on a multi-layer Karak myself to showcase my dwarfs minis, used the same Fyreslayer terrain for the forge area. Great idea to use the pice as a doorway !👍
This is just amazing work, seems like a fun project to work on as well. I might have to look into doing something similar, feeling really inspired right now! 😄
looks great - definitely going to emulate this idea when i get around to doing some dwarf stuff. still working on nearly 4k of Brets. I used a foam cutter and a bunch of time carving to build a bunch of towers and wall sections for my bretonnians to use. Need to spend a little more time there and finish it off, but im still painting endless peasants lol
Great bit of hobby. A suggestion, if I may - have you considered modelling compound to merge some of the gaps in the bark? I’ve seen others use this and it works really well to disguise the blobs of bark
It's just phenomenal. The passion and dedication really comes to life in your projects, but this is by far your best yet! Always love your last shots at the end, when everything comes together! A massive well done! I keep saying it, best channel on RUclips for all things wargaming - keep at it!
Cool Sallies are a common way for besieged forces to reduce the strength and preparedness of a besieging army; a sallyport is therefore essentially a door in a castle or city wall that allows troops to make sallies without compromising the defensive strength of fortifications.
Vey geat looking dwarf terrain. I hope to make some Dwarf terrain in the future as I have tons of dwarf models from Warhammer Fantasy that I would love to use for Old World (probably need to upgrade their bases first though) and I think an entrance to a mountain keep would go well with them. And maybe also a mine entrance.
This terrain looks fantastic Stu. Really clever use of many different components. I like the way you put it all together, that would be my kind of style as well because if I tried to plan it out too much the risk would be that it would never progress beyond that. Admittedly when I saw the bark in bags from Element Games I had visions that if I tried ordering that over here of the meme videos with FBI smashing the door down as they came barging into my house 😂. Either that or the Spanish Inquisition seeing as our customs guys are very full on and wood is often a focus point of theirs. I jest of course they are pretty reasonable as long as they can see there aren’t any signs of wood borers Mind you I still remember a guy asking if I had fruit in my bag or had ever had fruit in my bag and he was outraged (a little anyway) that I couldn’t remember seeing as I had had the bag for many years. That was just visiting Tassie from the mainland too not even coming in from overseas.
😂 There’s a reality TV show that airs over here about your Boarder Force, it’s basically just people getting busted at the airport for 30 mins, they did always seem extra careful about plant and foodstuffs. I’m sure you have a local supplier of cork bark if needed, they are a staple for railway hobbyists.
@@MiniatureRealms I’ve watched a fair number of episodes of that plus the UK version. The AUS guys are ready hot on food and wood/plants. Crazy the stuff that people try and bring in undeclared. Hopefully I can get something like that locally…or I’ll just go bush and get some bark from trees
Absolutely great work!!! It inspires me heavy!! But please tell me which Kind of flock it is It's so much better than static Grass... All the Best to you and keep on going your fantastic channel!!!
Thank you. Sadly I don’t know the brand or colour of that flock either, I received it as you can see it in the video, and I think it was a custom mix as well.
@@MiniatureRealms That's good to hear. I may have to give this a go then because having some Old World terrain is certainly something I want for my own Dwarf force.
Not the main entrance but a "miner" doorway! Looks awesome!
😂 Thank you
Absolutely amazing work - those Dwarf engineers would be proud!
Thank you Jordan 🙂
What I love about Old World is the 90s/2000s WD feel that it has, this terrain really captures that ! Great work.
Thank you Rob 🙂

Beautiful work, love that Gold door. I need to get hold of some of that cork bark and take the plunge into buying an airbrush.

Brilliant. Once I get enough dwarfs painted to justify spending some time on terrain I might steal this idea. :)

I have drawn plenty of plans for a hold but funds are first and foremost for fuelling the grudge wars to come
That’s very understandable. I’d like to do a larger main door which is playable for siege games one day, but no time right now.
