We are out of time. 2022 is now our most important election of our lifetime. Voting is our only power now. That's exactly why red-ruled states have passed well over 400 voter suppression bills already. Democracy is on the ballot. And only 1 party still supports what struggling democracy we have left in US. Mark my words: Rw politicians who occupy the majority in 30 state legislatures + rw SCOTUS & their greedy billionaire donors will be turning US into a 3rd world fascistic police state faster than you can blink if we all don't vote blue tsunami 2022. This is last call for democracy. Fair warning.
For the voter who felt it was important he pay for his own healthcare, with Medicaid and through employer-provided healthcare, individuals are paying for their own healthcare - the only difference is how much. Employers pay employees in pay and benefits. So if, for example an employee is paid $80 and the company chooses and "pays for" their health insurance of $20, the employee makes $100. The company is just writing the check to the insurer from the employee's money. Medicaid is paid by individuals as a piece of their taxes (in the same way we pay for roads, clean air, and the State dept). The scale of tax payers is huge relative to an employer, so we would have the scale to reduce our health care costs (and no 25% profit extracted by a private insurer), as we negotiate contracts directly with private hospitals and providers. Either way, we always pay for our healthcare, it's just one way costs much less (about two thirds less).
Don't agree with a lot of what this young lady says, but seems extremely sincere, principled, smart, willing to listen and wants to make a difference. Keep going young lady.
I live in a rural county. We are about 25 miles from the nearest city. We do not have any public transportation. We do not have a single public housing project in our county. That is how we want it. There are two types of people in our community those that grew up here and those that moved here to get away from those in the city. Just being honest. My wife and I did not want our children growing up in the city around that. We wanted better for them. She grew up in the rural area. I grew up in the city on the outskirts albeit. When my parents saw how nice the rural life was; they sold their home of 40 years and moved out with us for a much better life. We do not want any low income housing projects in our community. About 6 years ago we had a land owner pass and a portion of their acreage was bought by a land management company. While the land sat dormant for a year or so; it leaked out that they had the intent to build a low income housing project there. But they had some issues that blocked them. 1) the land was not zoned for multi residences. And 2) their grant required the project to have public transportation. They petitioned the County Commission to institute a new public transportation entity. It required a public vote as a large part was to be funded by a excess levy by taxpayers. That failed in a 2018. So the company then wanted the county commission to sign an agreement with the neighboring county which the city sits in for their service to extend to us. We told our commission no on that too and they declined. They also based upon public comment refused to rezone the land finally ending the project. A wealthy resident ended up buying the land. She had a park and playground built and donated the land to the county. We have a very low crime rate here. We do not want what a housing project brings with it. We have our own local shopping area again with little crime. If we wanted to live around those in the city we would live in the city. We want better. We want safer. We will never stand for any housing projects. We do not care what Joe Biden or the federal government wants or says. We don’t. We have as close to a utopia as we can get. We plan on keeping it that way…. We were once a deep blue state. But the democrats left us behind in favor of illegals, pervert, criminals and anyone else thar chooses to live a fringe lifestyle. We never changed. The democrats did. We will never change. They will have to.
Well said! Alot of foreigner's comments. U'd get MY vote. U were concerned in the voter's ideals and ur down to earth. A commodity not common IN today's Democrats. Liberal policies are the problem. Energy policies are a good example. We make it harder to produce fossil fuels in this country thinking we’re saving the planet only to push production to other countries where it’s done in a less environmentally friendly way making the problem worse. Not to mention making our poor poorer and dependent on people that don’t like us.
AOC and Tlaib voted for Pelosi as Speaker of the House. A Progressive inside the demorat party leads to a graveyard, said Kshama Sawant. Changing the dem party from within to a left wing party is like getting into the Mafia and changing them into farmers.
As an independent socialist, I love these political values. But Maine and New England are different. This campaign and these strategies would not work in Arkansas. Or Mississippi. Or Idaho. When the Dems rightfully, unapologetically embraced full civil rights for women, gays and African Americans in the late 60's, they forever alienated a chunk of the populace. Regardless of economic policy. Reagan/Thatcher drove that wedge deeper and linked that resentment with white evangelical Christianity and immigrant-skeptical isolationism which thrives in these rural enclaves. By now, it's basically become a phenomenon of paranoid, angry separatism at war with the inevitable course of modernity.
@@unipartyhellscape8895 The left should keep its wagon hitched to progress and modernity and not worry too much about those who don't believe in sharing society with people who don't look like themselves. We need to keep winning politically in cities and states that are anchored in the real world, lead by example and patiently bring along the reluctant who'll end up having to accept reality anyway. Concentrating on Maine is worth doing. Certain parts of Ohio or Florida, the midwest or large metro areas in red states like Georgia or Nevada. Do what we can, where we can most effectively. Rural folks who opt out of modern society shouldn't be a priority.
I won’t elaborate but I will say from personal experience, education on these topics is essential, you have to explain the unknown so it won’t be feared, the propoganda they buy into relies on fearing misinformation based on that lack of knowledge. When they have nothing to be afraid of, a lot of the more rational individuals may change.

Perfectly said. I just called my Democratic senator the other day. Senator Cortez Masto. I explained that Biden must do what he can to help struggling people. Democrats need all the help we can get & cancelling student loan was one campaign promise still unkept. 2022 is undoubtedly now the most important election of our lifetime. So what does her assistant offer me? "Well, the senator is on record for offering student loans at a lower interest rate...blag, de blah, blah." This willfully ignorant person is not even listening to me! Right now, this senator is running about 2-4 points behind her rw opponent! I am so beyond frustrated with corporate owned/ruled democrats and also with voters in America who push to get them in power even over any progressive that comes along. I had called her office before, telling her assistant I am a progressive & want to see democrats push more progressive agenda. What was that assistant's response? She obviously huffed at me like she was done. We are losing our democracy & people are sick & tired of a democratic party that refuses to acknowledge their voters. What do we do now? I still fight but it's getting harder every day. I try to reach others via blogging on YT channels. I see how uneducated soooo many Americans are. Especially youth. This is very scary. What if we did? Well, then we wouldn’t be engaged in winner take all electoral politics. What if we actually cared about the future and making a difference? Here’s a question for you: What if we realized that Democrats are easily as bad as Republicans? What if we forgot about party labels altogether? What if we stopped cow-towing to some party machine that only cares about power and money? What if we built our own communities with our own values and completely ignored government entities that weren’t directly accountable to the people in our local community? Well, then, I don’t think we’d be in modern America anymore.
