I know it will. The showrunners are Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik. One is George R R Martin's best friend who George trusts more than anyone. The other is the director of all the best episodes of Game of Thrones (BOB, Hardhome, Winds of Winter, etc.). And also, this is completed story already. All you have to do is type in the Dance of Dragons to know exactly what kind of amazing cinematography and screenwriting is about to take place
@@jisse1900 the other houses should play a part. Especially stark if they show us from that early. If they show only after they already have their power I think you are right. But if not we should for sure see a lot of good stuff. It would be a wasted oppurtunity to not show starks and lannisters and boratheans or even the martells and tyrells. Unless they are a brand new house you have a lot of history to work with. And plenty that the targaryeans would not include in the history books. It is literally the most powerful house all fucking each other and killing each other with a 50% chance of each member being insane for no reason. They better not find a way to screw it up because I am having a hard time imagining the possibility with how much is already pre-written.
I mean... that was a comment on the costume design, which, sure, is an important part of world building, but I think those words are more literal than talking about the show as a whole.
What made Thrones brilliant was how the storyline built up the characters and gave you a sense you were with them on a journey. If this goes anywhere near that, I'm sure this will be equally compulsive viewing.
Since they robbed me of seeing Visenya when they chose the timeline of DoD, I'm going to get excited about the next best thing, which is Aemond One Eye on HER dragon.
Everything looks amazing so far. Sets, designs, costumes, actors, CGI, locations, all look fantastic. I literally cannot wait for this show and to get back and fully immersed into Westerosi politics and intrigue again!

“Dragons are like nuclear weapons.” I remember hearing that from GRRM or one of the GOT producers. That is apt to describe them. If you have a tool to exterminate your enemies they will be deterred to oppose you. The Targaryen’s faced opened hostility only after the dragons were gone. Imagine if the Soviets never developed their atomic arsenal in 1949, and the United States was the only country that had nukes after World War 2. America would’ve stood unopposed and been the undisputed hegemon, resulting in no Cold War.
They literally faced hostility when they had dragons too. Maegor the Cruel had to fight the Militant Faith and a lot of people rebeling against his tirany.
I dunno, Doctor Who was serious role at most of his tenure and as Philip in The Crown was pretty serious, he's not a comedic actor. But yes by and large he should get bigger roles.
I really hope GRRM pushed them to keep it as close to the book as possible. This should be absolute common knowledge by now, that GOT was plummeted when the showrunners had no endgame provided by the books, as well as arrogantly, haphazardly changing things left and right regardless of if it made character, story or lore sense. This is not news, it's a modern day phenomena how GOT kamikazed itself, so I pray they understood that making this one.

To be honest, as long as they keep within the known lore of what happened, that will be great. And to me, even if they'd made it more like it's being told from an unreliable narrator's perspective, e.g. Mushroom, as long as that is canon, I am absolutely okay with that. My issue comes if they make changes to what was given by the source material.
As a Targaryen loyalist, I'm soooo excited to see this. I have been longing to see their dynasty play out on screen and hearing how passionate Miguel and Ryan are about this show and truly honouring GRRM's work,puts me at ease that the show is in the right hands. I can't wait for this. So hyped!
I am excited as well. I am incredibly intrigued by the Targaryens, they're one of the most interesting and complex characters, but I do admit I'd rather have a stark on the throne than another Targaryen.

When its a large scale fantasy show like this and a lot of sets and all are practical effects and not CGI, you know its going to be good. That time and love really showed through on other amazing fantasy adaptations like LOTR and GOT.
It’s kind of the sad the reputation they have received when they did such a beautiful job on season 1-5. Unparalleled television. None of this would have been possible without David and Dan and the only Song of Ice and Fire we saw on television might have been a disastrous and so far removed from source material adaptation like the one we got with the Wheel of Time series on Amazon. David and Dan helped define modern Fantasy Television and it’s what every fantasy filmmaker today strives to live up to.
This was a pretty important video to release. It's not just self-promotional, it's explaining to potential viewers how this is different from GoT and why people should watch it. Very important to hear GRRM contribute and also the line "What worked in Thrones, what didn't?" from Miguel to suggest they've learnt from their mistakes.
I literally can’t wait for these awesome Sunday nights again it’s been such a long time. They have a problem with lore breaking and Amazons weird narrative that adding one black elf and one black dwarf is somehow more inclusive than simply expanding the story into the realms of Harad and Rhun, which were predominantly inhabited by PoC. except the "more dragon" comment at the end.. Adding more dragons will not improve the series. The other one got worse and worse as the dragons got more screen time, and we had more action.. GOT is not a fucking Marvel movie.

Little detail. Two times in this we saw(what I think to be) a model of old Valyria. Firstly it was really interesting to see how it probably looked like( very much like dragonstone), but also how the early Targaryens kept their Valyrian roots as proudly as they did. Things like this helps build hype for the show massively
I can’t wait to finally see all the characters I’ve read about on screen. Now I can be sure that the first three ‘Strong’ sons have the right look and not silver hair 🤗
I wasn't interested in this at all at first. Game of Thrones had me just so deflated, but I've started getting actually pretty pumped about this with each passing day.
You have no reason to be "deflated". This is a different show, different writers, different show runner, based off of a different book set at a different time. Get over it, and ENJOY something instead over pretending to be this victim of the media you consume.

@@44r0n-9 Yeah it is great as it is, but season 1 of GoT wasn't the full vision, because of budget restraints. For example, Roberts hunts were supposed to have thousands of people, and were overly fancy. Then there is the Iron Thron, which was supposed to be huge. But they couldn't do these. So I see his point.

The one sound here that sold me was the lone duduk. The instrument that defined Daenerys in the original show. As well as the choir that accompanied her story. So yes, I'm excited to see what the Targaryens were like at their peak. Khaleesi, we will miss you. With all our hearts.

Didn't think I was going to get excited for this after the monstrosity that was season 8 of GoT, but after seeing some clips, I'll admit that I actually am looking forward to this show.
I wasnt really hopeful, especially after the s8 debacle but they definately swayed me. It helps ofcourse that they have finished source material from martin himself. Hes so great at creating characters and giving them perfect lines to say...
I am so excited about watching House of the Dragon. I have always been fascinated by the Targaryens and their dragons so much that I became quite disappointed that Game of Thrones did not have much to offer in comparison.
Can't wait to watch this, GOT has been my favorite series and seeing kings landing, westeros, the war and dragons again brings so much memories but this will be a new chapter
Incredible amount of work and craftsmanship is evident early on here. I'm extremely impressed. Not to mention the dialogue and political challenges, i'm sure, will be brought to justice with Ryan Conall and GRRM at the helm. This is going to be big.

I’m excited for the dragons not going to lie, especially since Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal had personalities. And in GOT since it had only been 17 years since the Targaryen dynasty ended, which isn’t really a lot of time, so the presence and history of the most recent dynasty was always hanging over everyone’s heads.

Ramin Djawadi is a musical genius and a huge part of Game Of Thrones. i literally get goosebumps everytime i hear his scores.

They have a problem with lore breaking and Amazons weird narrative that adding one black elf and one black dwarf is somehow more inclusive than simply expanding the story into the realms of Harad and Rhun, which were predominantly inhabited by PoC. It's just completely hypocritical and dishonest.

Absolutely adore that they either designed realistic sets or had it on locations. Absolutely sick of the drab, easy greenscreen that a lot of productions tend to go for now.

except the "more dragon" comment at the end.. Adding more dragons will not improve the series. The other one got worse and worse as the dragons got more screen time, and we had more action.. GOT is not a fucking Marvel movie.
@@juharon You know things can juggle good action and good story. Also, GOT didn’t get worse because of the action. That was solely bc of the writers. Finally, how could you not want to see more dragons, now we’re even gonna see dragon vs dragon.
@@gaybriale9519 Without material Dumb & Dumber couldn't come up with good dialogues, and a coherent story .. so they put more effort into battles and action scenes instead.
@@juharon There will be more dragons on this one simply because there were more dragons in Westeros at the time. It's staying authentic to the book, not a plot device to detract from a lack of substantial storytelling.

If there's one thing I'm extremely excited for with this series it's to see Vhagar on the screen. One of the original dragons of the conquest.
I am Missing Old cast of GOT 😭 they all were great actors.
Little detail.
Two times in this we saw(what I think to be) a model of old Valyria. Firstly it was really interesting to see how it probably looked like( very much like dragonstone), but also how the early Targaryens kept their Valyrian roots as proudly as they did.

Right. That model of old valyria is like a giagantic model of dragonstone and it makes sense. Dragonstone castle was made to cater dragons above it.

You have no reason to be "deflated". This is a different show, different writers, different show runner, based off of a different book set at a different time. Get over it, and ENJOY something instead over pretending to be this victim of the media you consume.

@@44r0n-9 Yeah it is great as it is, but season 1 of GoT wasn't the full vision, because of budget restraints. For example, Roberts hunts were supposed to have thousands of people, and were overly fancy. Then there is the Iron Thron, which was supposed to be huge. But they couldn't do these. So I see his point.

The one sound here that sold me was the lone duduk. The instrument that defined Daenerys in the original show. As well as the choir that accompanied her story. So yes, I'm excited to see what the Targaryens were like at their peak. Khaleesi, we will miss you. With all our hearts.

Couldn't have said it better myself. As a huge fan of the show and the book series, I have high expectations for this series and so far it's looking pretty dam good. Game of Thrones is an epic phenomenon that has created a new precedent in television history and George R.R. Martin is truly a fictional genius of writing. I am so excited to see this show and for the future projects of the Game of Thrones world.

I am so excited about watching House of the Dragon. I have always been fascinated by the Targaryens and their dragons so much that I became quite disappointed that Game of Thrones did not have much to offer in comparison.
The Night King will be the real terror at some point of this prequel as well...

I’m excited for the dragons not going to lie, especially since Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal had personalities. And in GOT since it had only been 17 years since the Targaryen dynasty ended, which isn’t really a lot of time, so the presence and history of the most recent dynasty was always hanging over everyone’s heads.
