You have to know he grow up in a sect where people in there are very conservative and he has been brought up with learning all those rules since he was kid. Just like Lan Xichen said Lan Zhan is stubborn. And also seeing that Wei Ying clearly show no interest or has said he's not attracted to men he decided to bury that feeling deep inside him. You have to know not everyone are like others where they can be open with their feelings bc we all have a fear of rejection. That's was the case of Lan Zhan before the death of WWX. And it was also the case for Wei Ying in his 2nd life when he realized he has feeling for LWJ and burry it inside of him of fear of rejection
