Cody Bonds Since this is Liu Biao s episode, Sun Jian would be a good 2nd episode. a great and interesting character who met his untimely death by Liu Biao s betryal. and not so well known as Cao Cao or Guan Yu, definitely deserved a explanatory video. oh i just realized you already had a Sun Jian episode sucks to be me lol.
I do try and reword it for clarity. And as they are the primary source for the game, it seems silly to ignore it. The history sections are my own, and I've had to expand on their stories a bit as they don't seem to hold up to deep fact checks. But for these it's all about packaging and presentation. Reading it from a blog isn't as fun.
I've been binging these 3T videos all morning in work haha. The commentary, editing and historical background are very well done. Hope you grow to be one of the major TW RUclipsrs ♥️
Glad you're enjoying them. I knew nothing about this period when I began the series - so they've been invaluable in introducing who these figures were.
Great video! As a lifelong Total War fan that knows embarrassingly little about Chinese history, I am very much looking forward to the next Warlord video.
It's been a journey for me as well. I start each one of these with zero knowledge - so after I read CA's take I try and read up to fill in the gaps and understand what's going on.
I am enjoying the diplomatic gameplay in this game. I focus on food and turn my province into a Chinese restaurant, locking my "trade partners" into food deals in exchange for regular repayments.
going to start with either Liu Biao or Kong Rong~~ Prefer to play with the lesser well-known warlords~ hope to see Gongsun Zan or Yuan Shu in your next WARLORD LEGEND
Liu Biao is kinda underrated mostly because his sons tore his realm apart after he died, and then Ciao Ciao launched his invasion, failed, leaving Liu Bei and Sun Qian to gobble up his territory. Kong Rong joined Cao Cao and later got executed for like treason or something.
Cant wait for this game; Ive been learning about the three kingdoms and chinese culture a lot because of my gf. Im also trying to take mandarin my semester of college when i go back this fall.
I really really hope the battles get fixed and allow for slower tactical and less arcadey battles, this game looks like it has so much potential but so much room to fall flat too! I am nervous and excited at the same time. I guess I am nervecited. If it had combat similar to DEI Rome 2, I would be delighted beyond belief
They want to polish and bug squash before launch. CA gets a bad rap among it's fans for less than perfect launches, and they seem to be actively trying to combat that.
liubiao has some top tier generals in his faction, however since the game changed some of his subordinates into vassal, i do not think he will be as powerful as in the novel.
I really have no idea how that rumor started. It plays like a cross between Warhammer and Thrones of Britannia. Visually it looks similar to Shogun 2 stylistically but with better visuals and a bit of Arena thrown in. In person I had no quibbles about the graphics other than the sharpening filter. It plays like any other Total War game for better or worse.
Are there also other factions/warlord that the player cannot choose? I am interested in zhanglu, liu yu, han sui, han fu maybe you can also briefly introduce as well? thank you
Just don't understand why the game select these 12 particular warlords. Those one we cannot play like zhang lu, han fu, liu zhang, liu yu, gong sun du they have also very strong generals and plays very important roles in the history, i.e. hanfu once has the same land, power have the same quality of generals like yuan shao. liu zhang has the entire bashu province for 20 years and has so many high quality generals.....
Excellent video (and may i add the pronunciations were muchhhh better :) ) Just a little point regarding Liu Cong and Cai Mao. The 'C's in their names are pronounced like he 'C' in Cao Cao's name with a T's instead of a hard C. Just as Cao Cao is not pronounced Cow Cow, so too the names of Cai mao and Liu Cong are not pronounced KAI mao and Liu Kong. Rather its T'sai Mao and Liu T'song or Sai Mao or Liu Song to make it easy. But apart from that another excellent video. Subbed :)
I wondered about that after I recorded. I had to go back and correct Huang Zhong's as I was waaaay off. The "tsk" sound "C" gives me fits to pronounce. I'm looking forward to playing Cao Cao but I'll probably put a disclaimer at the start.
Liu Biao: For those for seek clarity, knowledge and wisdom to me the right decisions . Uh...what about the decision that ended with a life long enemy? The Sun clan.
to be fair.......the suns had been raiding his land for ages before he ambushed them, so it hardly made any difference considering they where already enemies
@@codybonds Sorry, it just seemed like a paid sponsorship, since many of the lines in the videos were very similar and a bit cookie cutter. Still useful, but it had the hallmarks. IE similar scripts, showing the logo as much as possible.
@@codybonds Never, both him and Zheng Yang (the bandit guy) seem to be the least played factions RN( I only saw a Zheng playtrough on a small spanish strategy channel). I can understand the little appeal for the latter: he is too similar geographically and thematically wise to the Bandit queen. Perhaps Liu Biao is to similar to Kong Rong??
That's my impression as well. They're just not different enough. And come off as less exciting versions. Liu Biao focuses on research instead of trade, but still plays tall.
as a chinese its funny hearing how the caucasions totally murdered the lore. I have read the original romance of the three kingdoms and my impression of liu biao is nothing that this video mentioned

@@alexkirrmann8534 If he was a legendary warlord, it would be four kingdoms not three kingdoms. He got eliminated by Cao Cao who had a much smaller army.
Your story telling is superb, but you really need to work on your pronunciation. It is cringing and people that already know the RoTK lore don’t know who you are talking about. It took several time of you saying Yuan Shao for me to recognize who you were talking about. I will say your pronunciation is much improved over the Sun Jian video.
So instead of anything that's even remotely informative or respectful of the period, this video is just a glorified ad. Great, we don't get enough ads these days.
Which WARLORD LEGEND do you want to see next? Comment below!
(I'm holding off on Liu Bei until his trailer arrives closer to launch.)

What about Zheng Jiang.
Yuan Shu. Please please, I play him every romance game.
My vote is for Ma Tang.

I have brought peace, freedom, justice and security to my new empire.

My allegiance is to the Republic, to democracy!
I see what you did there. Nice SW quote.

@@Gunxify hhahahaha , the Emperor has returned in Rise of Skywalker.

This series of vids you're doing on the three kingdoms is great. I'm hooked, so thank you!
Funny thin is Liu Biao is the anchor of the era. When he died thing escalate to battle of red cliff quickly.

my man Lui Biao is 48 but looking more like 68.. keeping things together in a middle of a Civil War really ages a man..
Take a look at photos of Lincoln in 1860 and then 1865. Those five years of stress are brutal.
Love your new username Bondsai sensei!

This game has a heavy RTK13 influence, which is a good thing to me. I kind of wish you could make your own character for the campaign
that would be awesome
Modders might be able to do it. In TWWH2 there is custom Lords
For the first time in my life, I've preordered a game. Can't wait for March 7
Have you played other Total War games?
Oof. I've got bad news for you. It's been delayed until May 23rd.
I've played all of them. My favorite so far being shogun 2: Fall of the samurai. Why the delay?
They want to polish and bug squash before launch. CA gets a bad rap among it's fans for less than perfect launches, and they seem to be actively trying to combat that.
he could have been a great emperor...shame he didn't have the drive for power
It's what made him a great governor. If you don't lust for more, you concentrate on improving what you have.
@@codybonds that's the problem...he stayed a governor when he could have been an emperor
To be fair, he was about 50 years old by the time he took Jing, and even then was restricted by the nobles, so his ambitions probably withered away.
He was a little too old. Didn't he die half way into the Three Kingdoms period?
This just in, there's twelve Legendary Warlords, Dong Zhuo comes with the base game but needs to be unlocked.
I love that he's unlockable. I have a quick video defending Dong Zhuo coming out tomorrow.
Liu Biao, The Governor of Jing Province

The way he says Liu Biao tho
i was excited for this game and love the time period, but what i've seen of the gameplay is making me worried
What's your concern?
this one has really descent animations 👍
The game looks great now, but i liked it more like in this video lower gamma, more vibrant colors
Let's just hope it's not like Rome 2 with too much hype to only have a lot of glitches
Thats what Im afraid of as well. They still have a bit of time but some of the play through seem a little glitchy or not that smooth.

Thanks for telling us about battle of red clif . But there is no navel battle in this game ? How will three kingdoms depict that epic battle ?
Playable Historic Battle. It will start with ships lashed together to create a large platform, then go to the land portion.

Dredging my brain for dynasty warriors knowledge everytime I look at this game. Really need to read a few books on chinese history.
That was my only knowledge as well before starting this series. It's been fun to see how all these lords connect to tell the bigger story.
If you haven't tried the "Three Kingdoms Podcast" yet - it's a great starting point.

Zhuge liang is like Merlin + Richelieu, and the best part of the story is : he failed.
