    Most of my advanced control settings were greyed out after trying every combination I could think off what fixed it in the end was unplugng the HDMI 2.1 cable and pluging it back in. You have to do this after every PC reboot.
    I noticed the the freesync Pro option on the second port had a pink toggle but it was also off so I tried the second HMDI port and it unlocked all the settings so I then tried port 1 again and all the advanced control options were available while running 4K 120hz 10bit HDR and Gsync.

    Hey man, have you changed the icon (on the TV dashboard by selecting edit right hand corner and clicking on the hdmi input icon to change it) to 'PC' Mode to get the rtings achieved input lag? I've noticed I have loads of things greyed out if I use the PC mode on the Game picture setting whereas you haven't, so I believe you did not change it unless I got a glitch or something. Tbh I'm just trying to achieve the best picture with a reasonable amount of input lag with a few processing options on like you got here but I'm not too sure whether PC mode is the thing that gives the TV it's 13.7ms 1080p input lag and if if I can use other picture mode settings with only a few things on like dynamic contrast/colour and super res *whilst* in PC mode. Sorry if that sounds a bit complicated! It's just that you mentioned input lag and that you get the same with just instant game response outside of game mode. For all other stuff this has been a great help so thanks for the video brother! Have an awesome day dude 😃👍🏻

    BRIGHTNESS = Black level. Set so that black is truly black, i.e. not dark gray. With OLED this is possible to achieve even in pitch black room. Everything above black should be varying degrees of dark shades etc. If not, you're crushing your blacks i.e. you're loosing details in the dark scenes.
    At least in 8-bit world, High & Low for Black level come from Computer black (only 0/255 is black) and Video Black (0...16/255 is all black). In pitch black room the right Brightness-setting for certain input might be 48, with backlight on 53 and so forth. I.e. your viewing conditions always define what is the right setting. That's why there are separate ISF Factory Calibration for dark & bright rooms. Also, the correct setting with Input 1 might be 48/100, while Input 2 works best with 58/100 etc.
    When CONTRAST is set too high, it's possible to loose details in the whitest colors. Just like with BRIGHTNESS, this is easiest to set with proper Test Pattern. Because it's easy to see when you start loosing information in the black end or in the white end. With some LCD's and OLED's it might be possible that even 100/100 works. But it's perhaps bit more likely that you start to loose some details in the whiter end, when going above 90 or 95.
    Personally, I'd at least start by setting every setting with "Dynamic" in its name to OFF. Sharpness varies, in few cases 50/100 is neutral (Softening/Sharpening), although often it is 0/100 (Sharpening only). With some tv's very minor sharpening like ~10/100 might be beneficial. Or not. Again, it depends on specific model and the Input being used.
    Also, I've never ended up using Picture Mode called VIVID (usually sort of 'Candy color mode' with crushed colors, i.e. almost red doesn't differ in any way from maximum red etc.). But of course, each TV-model is more or less different, we have different room lighting, different inputs etc.
    Naturally, only true calibration gives the optimum results. This means that you have to use that 20-point gray scale setting, to ensure that all those 20 points produce neutral gray (from the dark gray to very light gray). If not, then you increase or decrease R, G and B until they all are neutral gray. Luckily, ISF Factory Calibration should be relatively close.
    Similar thing should be done to the colors, too. In practise, these both require a measuring device and SW to get consistent results within reasonable time. Otherwise you might get 'perfect' picture with blue lagoon, after hours of tinkering. But then you notice that news anchor looks like he came straight from sauna (too red). So, you fix that and now it's all 'perfect'. Except that grass in the football field is now neon green. And so on, it never ends... So, it's way too difficult and slow without proper measuring device & SW.
    PS.
    Some might need to 'Calibrate' their eyes. With LG's CX it means that you choose one of the ISF-modes (assuming TV isn't properly calibrated), at least for decent quality Blu-ray/DVD movies, TV and Streaming movies etc. Then stick with that at least a week or two. Now, if you try going back to Candy Color mode (VIVID), it propably looks like sh*t.
    For years, I used to set the picture way too cool/blue. Therefore it took weeks to get used to the more neutral picture. Once that happened, my previous settings looked bad. Everything was so blue, bland and colorless... :-p
    PPS.
    Many movies, tv-series and games have deliberate color tinting (and sometimes accidental...), which might more or less differ from neutral. Sometimes there's several of them, for different worlds (Elfs, Orcs, Dwarfs etc.) or different time periods (flashbacks etc.).
    PPPS.
    Some people seem to be very sensitive to certain things, while others don't notice anything annoying (Motion settings, Refreshing rate, Input Lag, Colors...). Instead of fighting about it, just accept it and enjoy your movies and games with the settings that are optimal for you.
    Even if some 9th dan professional A/V Guru seems to have very different settings. One of you might be color blind, half deaf etc. Or perhaps one of you watches movies in pitch black room, while other watches in very brightly lit room, with all curtains open.

    No hgig? And if I’m using the ps5 as my blue ray player “uhd blue rays” I adjusted the ps5 hdr calibration specs from hdtv test game mode with hgig on, but if that will ruin the movie watching part I could change the hdr on the lg side to one of your vivid setting but will my original hdr calibration on the ps5 game and hgig mode conflict your setting? Or would I have to readjust my hdr calibration on the ps5 before i try your settings?, I hope that makes sense. All in all will these work both in game and hard copy blue ray playing for movies? “Hgig all the time or tone mapping when I use it for movies ?

    I do more RPG so I wanted to try the HDR one. I noticed a dramatic drop in pixel response time and the movement just wasn’t smooth anymore.
    Also I feel black level high should only be used for FPS (maybe moba but I don’t know as I don’t play them) as it washes out the color much more.

From various sources I've gathered that Dynamic Contrast and Super Desolution add lag when on high (not on low, and not sure about medium), even in game mode. Is extra low latency just baked into the Game picture mode? (Even though Instant Game Response as a setting is independent of picture modes?) Or does Game mode just turn off by default all the settings that could increase latency?

    • @loki76
      @loki76 3 года назад

      @@marcusf9009 Game does by default reduce some processing, most often motion processing and so on. Game mode has a lot lower input lag on most modern TVs.
      On Sony outside of game mode could be well over 100ms input lag. But in game mode it's between 10-18ms.
      Doing some "reality creation" processing is still available in game mode. I can't really say if or how much input lag it would add. I'd imagine they do not allow settings that really can have a big impact on it. For example Motion settings are usually not available in game mode. On a Sony the game mode is actually very good because there is still a high degree of visual fidelity left. Full local dimming etc. Samsung have issues with that for example. The whole point is, stick to game mode if you play games. Especially if you can feel how the controls are 'lagging' with your inputs.

      So the settings would work on my 65’’ bx? I tried to find his video about the bx but can’t find it

      @@LBCool would you be able to put your settings in here?
      I feel like I’m not getting the full potential of my oled. It doesn’t look as nice as what it should, or maybe it’s just me I don’t know.
      Any help would be appreciated though

    I've got an idea for you, Bryan.
    You should try test and compare normal Windows versus Windows Server versions and see if you get more or less fps

    Does the Game mode reduce lag beyond just having the 'instant game response' turned on by default? I prefer HDR Effect mode for Switch but can't tell if there's a bit of extra input lag even with instant game response turned on...

    • @Real.384
      @Real.384 2 года назад

      Yes there will still be input lag in hdr effect the input lag is 99ms

      @@Real.384 Thanks! How did you measure this? I can't seem to find measurements anywhere. Also, is this more than the lag from older consoles? I dont seem to remember any lag or talk of lag before Game Mode on TVs was a thing...

    Something wrong with your B7 settings, no way is the input lag like that. I cannot notice anything on my desktop. Doesn't feel like that on my C7 and most measurements show a 10ms difference between the C7 and CX. What was the actual measurement from your data? Maybe it just looks bad but is fine at normal speed? Is your input labelled as game with the controller icon?

    • @techyescity
      @techyescity  3 года назад +2

      Yes tested both, and game is ok, but still game B7 is slightly slower than the CX.

      I don't think he had it in-game mode even though he says it is. I've never seen any TV perform that bad, let alone a B7.
