Southern 630 & 4501: Return of the Summerville steam specials

September 16th, 2023 was the day that marked the return of the Summerville Steam Specials, a 9-hour excursion powered by Southern Railway 4501, who was joined for a doubleheader by Southern 630 for this occasion. The train travels from East Chattanooga Tennessee, runs through northeast Georgia and terminates in Summerville. There, the steam locomotives are turned on the turntable, and coupled to the other end of the train before heading back to East Chattanooga.
Due to the long-anticipated return of this excursion, many hundreds of people came out and rode, chased, or met the train in Summerville. As this was a sight to see after 4 years of dormancy.
