Another pearl of wisdom from Evan..."eat a LOT!" Yes!!! I would hardly call what Evan does "jogging" though, but I get the perspective. Great video and am looking forward to the CIM breakdown. Hard to outdo the CIM race video which was epic.
the q&a with evan was really insightful and gives perspective to what motivates and fulfills her. her happiness is prioritized through what can be a grueling process! my parents & i also liked the finish line footage and we're so deeply appreciative 🥹 love ya all heart!
Cool video. Love how you all do things as a family and work together. Interesting seeing Evan's perspective on her peers. I always wondered if she ran for her school and the circumstances around it. Glad she is fueling properly too. I know with all the miles you put in, calories are so important. Love all the shots of Southern California. Brings back memories of living there in the 90s.
oh man.. it means so much to me that you talked to my children before the race. i am grateful to the run community for being so supportive especially to nervous kids before a marathon race. really, thank you~
awww thanks for the encouragement. competitive 12-yr-olds race 3k in under 10 min. evan's not quite there. but it's all good! we are super happy right now. and we will DEFINITELY race xc in hs since evan is interested in it!
you know what? we can ALL do it together. evan is the example that we can all do what we think we can't. let's change our own minds. and then we can change others! inspire with us!!!
cbf!!!!! i missed you so much~ please watch out race video if you haven't seen it already. i think it will be meaningful to you. and tomorrow, cole will upload the race weekend recap. i can't believe how much he's progressed as a producer. so happy for him~
definitely! let me know if you're ever in southern california. also, we will be racing surf city half in feb, big island marathon in mar, oc marathon in may.
hey mk! just curious what kind of stats u like to see in your watch while running? like the distance, pace or avergae pace, lap pace, time? and do u change it during a race? thanks ❤
that's a very good question. evan and/or cole will do an episode about it. (but just for you) for easy runs - distance, total time, pace for workouts - avg lap pace, lap distance, lap time for races - same as workouts for courses with good satellite reception. for city marathons, i split the miles manually and use easy run display. will explain why in the video! you are AWESOME!
Go UCI! Zot!! I’m running the Ventura Marathon in a couple of months. Any tips? As for running fast, I’ve found that training for 5-10K pays dividends for marathoning. It might not be a bad idea to do a 3-month cycle with the goal time of 17:45 / 36:50. I did that a few years ago and was in 1:21 / 2:48 shape for the half and full marathon.
oh man, we're going to ventura to spectate and support friends. i'd LOVE to meet you! i'm a fan! yes, we periodized with a 15-week speed training block that allowed evan to go from a 3:05 marathoner to 2:55. after spring marathons, we will step away from the marathon for 1 year and focus on 5K/10K fitness so that we can have a shot at running under 2:40. Evan has shown some potential to go low 16 on the track and she has physically matured enough that I feel she can handle that type of high intensity training. so, no more jogging after spring. evan will start running and racing. :)
@ Awesome. I’ll be running 1:30 for the first half and hopefully around 1:28 for the second half. Low 16 is rare air for a high school girl. Evan has good technique, so there shouldn’t be anything stopping her from achieving it. As you know the recipe is simple- consistency & patience.
thanks levi, but we aren't too worried about getting fast. we'll let evan decide when she wants to speed things up and what direction she would like to take her running. right now, we do it for fun and for family time.
haha! well, slow compared to her peers who are sub 10 in the 3K. evan is nowhere near that. but we are happy jogging our way through marathons and life!
oh ya she loves slow jogging. At a 6:30 pace, LOL If i try hard, that is my 1 minute interval. LOL Oh how nice it is to be young. She has a great career ahead of her. Congrats to all on CIM. It was and awesome race
cim was so awesome richard! and you keep trying hard. bc soon you too will also realize how "slow" we all are. we can continue to improve. we can continue to be stronger. and we will continue to be better versions of ourselves every single day. all heart, my friend~
Great job Evan and Cole!! Was a pleasure to run behind you guys.
awesome! congrats on your cim race!!!

So happy that evan grew and is able to put down more food. That first marathon was so fun!
Love it! Can't wait to see the CIM breakdown!

@@RunningOtaku yes, definitely want to neg split the ventura course. i would wait till mile 22 to turn tighten the screws.
Be careful you don’t miss her speed window

“Slow running” lol…I don’t think there’s any of that during a 2:55 marathon. Great interview Evan!

Evan made it on Tim Grose’s video 😀
really? i'm not familiar with a lot of other youtubers. i only know a handful. who's your fave?
Evan is not "slow" by any measure.. I bet those top elite sprinters her age couldn't keep up with her marathon.
awww~ thank you for supporting evan with ALL HEART~~ we have the best community. appreciate you so much!
is she 12?
Yes~
