Michael Jordan hates it bcuz of two reason. One he didn’t wanted certain who can’t shoot to end up with the ball and miss a shot especially in the closing moments of a game and two the triangle offense becomes monotonous with its moves and opposing players eventually read the passing lanes and shot down your offense. That’s is MJ told Phil we will run the triangle but in the forth quarter I’m taking over. An example of triangle shutting down is the Bulls vs Knicks in the 1994 playoffs. Derick Harper was reading those passing lanes of the Bulls and Phil use I think it was English from the bulls to take Derrick out to bring balance to that series. Derrick was suspended and the bulls carry the series to 7 games. They eventually lost bcuz of Derrick came back from suspension.

But Melo learned the triangle. Phil however didn't put the right team around him. Also, it's a dead offensive scheme in the modern NBA because it doesn't create optimal looks or spacing anymore. Also, there are triangle elements in almost every scheme so it's not as difficult to defend, and it's also extremely predictable. Melo even explained this perfectly on JJ Redick's podcast.
