My review of the Unihertz Tank after a week of use...and I have to say, the battery claims hold up. This thing drained less than 5% of battery in a week and I can see how with regular use you can definitely get up to months of battery time with up to 100 days on mixed-use. The ultimate tough smartphone for campers, construction, first responders...lots of great uses for $339!

Love that Unihertz is always doing different stuff and this is incredibly well-made!
Using the Titan and Titan Slim, this appeals to me. That industry, "get shit done" feel. 22,000 mAh is a statement. That IR Camera/emitter, that LED flash...I can think of a LOT of applications in an industrial setting.
the IR does video IR as well
i do plenty of hiking, urban exploring, long distance biking. i have destroyed several phones exploring abandoned buildings. this looks amazing.
i currently carry floodlights in my pockets just to light up places for photos.
With this, you do all in one!
The cell phone weirdness is back, they took a niche and owned it, a true survival phone.
Definitely a survival phone...you can go a long way with this thing!
A phone with actual utility, what a concept! Thanks for the review as most of the more mainstream "content creators" won't talk about this device.
I love stuff that is a little different!
You can't get mad that people don't cover niche products like this that barely anyone will buy.
@@phonkequinox2602 why not? This phone has literally everything but the slim factor.
@@LuisC7 absolutely not, is has a very low end processor, awful cameras, a bad screen, and it will most likely not get any software updates
@phonkequinox2602 Damn, the Helio G99 CPU is the VERY low end?!?
I wouldn't dare imagine what high-end CPU that you would finally deem as mid-ranged.
You nailed it! If you want a phone for a thru-hike or extended camping, bring this! No need for solar panels or battery packs.
Thank you coverings phones that are actually innovative! Tired of glass rectangles with 10000 mp cameras lol.
Man o man, Unihertz contiue to carry variety of smartphones in the right direction. What an absolute unit of a device...Really got me interested
It's really cool for sure!
I just LOVE your sense of humor ! Great video, you MADE ME like this TANK
Thanks for watching!
I bought one because of your video. Currently waiting for it to be shipped out!
Updates?
How it goes?
U got it yet
I want this smartphone because of its name. I want to have a tank in my pants.
Few things to add- wireless charging to keep sealed ports sealed for long time, FLIR camera and Degoogled Android.
Definitely one of the best launches from Unihertz. The strong RAM and battery are the highlights along with the Helio G99 for a seamless user experience.
I've been using the tiny tiny Unihertz jelly 2 for a year now
i love this brand it works so well
140€ Android 10 - 128Gb internal memory!
I think the crazy thing to me is that they're sticking with only LTE based processors, especially on a phone meant to be used out in the middle of nowhere. The processor is about the equivalency of the Snapdragon 695 in benchmarks which is better than you would think.
The 695 has been very good this year and this definitely is on par with it. Very smooth in use. And sticking with LTE when battery life is a main selling point is smart for them...5G still drains horribly in all of the phones I've tried it in, save for the iPhone.
Can the LED 1000 lumen be used in camera application? Say for example....torch?
Whoah, and I thought my Ulefone Power Armor 13 was an absolute unit. This is crazy! It will without a doubt go into my wish list!
I do a lot of exploring and spending time out in the wilderness, I am kind of a "bull in a China shop" so having a rugged phone suits me the best.
I'm not sure if or when this phone will be available to ship to Sweden. I'll save up for it just in case.
Great review, thank you for sharing! :)
Thanks for watching!
I've just looked on their website and you buy a USA version and a rest of the world version of this phone and they do offer international shipping! I'm in the UK and I'm definitely going to be saving up to buy this too!
Updates man??? Bought it?
@@chloewright1 updates?
It can also start a campfire and has the ability to kill deer when you throw hard enough
How well is the screen protected? Only a thin lip around the screen?
I love unihertz so much, they throw the rule book of norms straight out the window and just have fun
I agree!
will it work on all carriers ? Att, Verizon , T- mobile?
i have been seeing your review many times now. Really excited about this phone. Wondering about the signal strength. Is it among strong one or the average reception?
Good reception, I haven't had any issues.
Well at least one reviewer mentioned the fact that the speaker crackles and distorts when the screen turns off. Can't use any music app without the sounds being distorted when the screen goes off
I just got the Tank honestly the best Rugged phone i have had this thing is SICK! 3 days shipping from China can't beat that
It's a really cool phone.
@@StevealiciousTech I didnt know till i got the phone that you can record video in IR i thought it just took pics but man what does the IR at the top of the phone do i have not figured that part out yet
@@JEEPSTUFFFGAMING tv remote
@@LuisC7 Thx but there is no app in the phone for that part to work i just use wifi anyways
@@JEEPSTUFFFGAMING oh ok then. Maybe install one
Looks more like some technical remote control for something. BTW, great battery, camera and Helio G99 gaming processor.
Can this thing actually run some ok games? I don't expect anything amazing but having that ability would be cool
The only downside I see is with the size of it is there a mount that it will fit into in a car to use for Google maps??
Yeah, that part would be tough. You need a crane for this guy.
That's a BEAST of a phone!
Thanks for this review. I'm ordering 3 Tanks.
You will enjoy them!
3? What for? Haha. But it's an awesome phone yeah
I have just placed my order for one on AliExpress the aux cable and the fact that you can expand the memory got me sold.. not like Samsung or iPhone e.t.c
I really don't like big phones, I've even been wanting a jelly2 for over a year, but honestly I'd like this phone just for the battery 😩
It's pretty cool with this battery!
I have the ulefone power armor 13 march this year now I'm after this phone, the ulefone 18t, the Oukitel wp 19 big battery rugged phones are great phones but people don't really realize it.
Rugged phones are capable of doing things flagships and others isn't capable of doing they have batteries that keeps you please so you don't have to run every 2 hours to charge them this is why I'm staying rugged straight through.
I just recently learned of those other brands that you mentioned. I had no idea there were a slew of phones out there with huge batteries that don't have to be charged daily. I'm ditching the Pixel line as long as Google keeps using that inefficient Samsung chip.
True. For the past few days I've been studying the heck out of rugged phones. My conclusion is this. The only worthy ones are unihertz tank, ulefone power armor 18t, and doogie v max (to be released). Between these 3, choose your poison. The ulefone has a thermal camera and some special features but half the battery. The tank has an awesome flashlight but with less performance. The doogie v max is everything awesome except slower charging and no awesome flashlight, but great CPU.
@@LuisC7 okay, I'm hoping on buy those i mentioned this year.
@@nemesisprime2993 what are you gonna buy? Honestly I'd recommend the doogie v max, unless you're more outdoors guy. Then get the tank
@@LuisC7 I'm an outdoor all around guy. I just take a look at the v max so I'll add it to my buying list, I'm a fan of rugged phones so I'll always be buying them, and to be honest i like how rugged phones are getting better and more comparing, soon the v max will be surpassed by another just watch and see.
for longer battery life, which one is better? g80 or g99?
Spot on Review of a Tank of a Phone device!
Thanks!
This rugged smartphone has a better life span than mine. The mediatek helio SoC is a good inclusion here.
I'll be testing this phone camera for sure 🙂
The night vision camera is remarkably good!!
Battery life sounds awesome. Did not belive specs at first glance...other thing..tho..led light must get very hot.what can you do when it burnes out.alsocit muat make it hot(*and im pixel user, temps are no new to me*)
I hate that phone service providers make it nearly impossible to own phones like this. I want this phone so bad. I would pay extra to get it certified by my carrier.
Yeah, it's extremely dumb. ATT is terrible with it. Phones that are absolutely capable, but didn't pay to be on their network.
Wait, so in the US you can't just chuck a sim card into any phone?
@@suh-guy According to people on the internet, service providers monitor devices on their network and can restrict access to your text messaging apps and such.
actually i think the bikepacking crowd who do interstate/border crossing would love to have this phone as well!
Agreed! It's a cool phone.
Call recording?
8 days 5% 95% left? hum... 🤔
you convinced me sir. its my next purchase. hope it comes with a european plug.
It's going to be a cool one!
Updates,?
Hello good review! The Tank looks like a good phone, if that's what you need, but I can see several cons that make it a no go for me.
First, the IR camera is a bit of a gimmick for me. Sure, it can be very useful but I don't see those niche situations happening except rarely.
Secondly, the size makes it difficult to carry regularly, e.g. often and fitting in your pocket. The weight is also a factor. My Unihertz Titan is difficult for me to carry, and the Tank is much larger and heavier (I do have Parkinson's which is probably a factor.).
Third, there's the battery, more precisely the charging. While I love the size and endurance of it, you'll have to use the supplied charger as even with the 18W Titan charger, it would take forever to recharge the Tank.
I see the Tank as a good match for people in certain jobs, construction for example and those who camp often.
All that said, if the Tank had a physical keyboard, I'd pick up one despite the price.
The Tank will fit nicely in the front pocket of my overalls perfectly. I work outside and it gets dark way to early in the winter months so that LARGE flashlight would be awesome
Ah yes, that makes sense. Good for you!
Why did they make the screen flat without raised edges on the case??? Such an obvious flaw.
The case edges are raised slightly. The provided glass screen protector is what brings it flat.
I would like the original tank or the tank mini 2024
Thank you for the review. The phone is great and for that all i dont mind the weight :)
Definitely! If you don't mind the weight, great phone.
i have a oukitel wp15 as i travel heaps i dont use it as my main phone but a back up device in my bag... i charge it once a month i did take it on a 3 day hike trip and even watched some netflix and used gps and it still had 40 percent battery after 3 days of gps use it has a 15600 mah battery so i can imgine how good this thingh is the oukitel has a better cpu and 5g but ...
Nice little hands on review. Can't wait for a in depth review.
One big question though: While the phone does look pretty rugged, don't you think the screen popping out of the frame like that just screams for an instant damage?
I just can't see it NOT break when hit on an edge.
That's the glass screen protector I had mentioned. The actual display fits flush without it so it should be fine!
@@StevealiciousTech Alright, thanks.
And those 100 days on one charge, they have to be on stand by only, right? Other reviewers are talking about a week of use on a single charge.
I mean, think about it, the iphone 14 Pro Max has about 4300mAh, so a fifth of the Tank. And there is no way the iphone is somewhere remotely close to 20 days of actual usage time.
@@BASSTARD4STRING way longer than a week. I used it for a week and it barely drained at all. They say standby but on a regular charge you can be looking at who knows how long. I haven't charged it yet. I'm just going to let it ride.
You're wrong about one thing. Unihertz Tank only accepts up to two SIM cards of nano type. No support in this model for SD-card expansion.
Yep! I thought I had put that in the comments but I do mention it in the next video. It is dual Sim. The original product info had it as microsd but they changed it before launch.
Nice review bro...saw in other reviews dat it dont support micro sd...
That's true, it doesn't. The original materials said it was going to which stuck in my head but it is dual sim without micro SD. I clarify that in the next video.
@@StevealiciousTech or ok..thanks
can I set the flash light to go FULL lumen when I shake that phone? It would make it tactical. like you can prevent getting robbed
That would be a good idea but I don't think so. You can just hold the side button and light it up/
Motorola has this feature. there might be an app that can copy it. i use it all the time.
@@kilo-1337 yeah me too. You know how? What app
Does it hav ULTRA POWER SAVER MODE?
Why dont they support newer Android 13? This is mysterious for me :D
Is the display 60 or 90hz?
Got it yesterday... returned it yesterday. Why??? it tried to blow up my home... while charging it became very hot and gave warning and I unplugged it sent it's ass packing. I will stick with my s23 ultra note.
Their official website says that it's a double SIM slot, SD card clearly lisred as NO. Honestly that is a deal breaker for me, what do I need 22000mAh for if I only have 5Gb of storage? That was not a wise move.
I will double check with them as I have materials that say that the second slot can be used but I don't know if you had a typo but it's not 5GB of storage. It comes with 256GB of storage.
I was just playing with my neighbour's Unihertz Tank and confirm the International version (Canada) is dual SIM and does NOT support expanded memory. And yes, the phone has 256 GB of storage.
Does the Unihertz Tank have a GPS receiver?
It does have GPS, yes.
I think I'll bite this 22000mAh thing and replace my Oukitel WP15 which has only 15600mAh...
Hopefully aliexpress doesn't lose my package AGAIN!
It's a fun device!
There's no expandable storage on the uni hertz tank
Did it come with a US compatible wall plug?
Yep! US plug.
@@StevealiciousTech Thanks!
Dual sim or single sim?
Dual sim device.
Wonder if this thing is bulletproof...
I wouldn't doubt it!
can you reverse charge other devices use as power bank?
Not that I know of, no.
Yes.
Yes
can you verify if there is an SD card slot? Unihertz rep at aliexpress mentioned it does not have but rather 2 sim card slot
I'll double check but I looked at it myself and the material I was given says the second slot can be used as one.
@@StevealiciousTech that was a fast reply. Sd slot will be my make or break for this purchase as i will be camping with my movies along the phone
@@StevealiciousTech No!!! You are wrong. The International version is dual SIM and does NOT support SD card.
@@mickeydomh9374 The International version is dual SIM and does NOT support SD card. I literally was holding this phone 10 minutes ago and verified it does NOT support expanded memory.
Can it be purchased in th US?
Absolutely! That link will work for the US.
why do rugged smartphone makers always put a single speaker on the back that sounds like crap? Put dual speakers on the front. It can't add much to the price or design.
Doogee V Max. My current rugged phone has dual front facing speakers, 22000mAh Battery capacity, night vision. 5g Dimensity 1080 SOC, 108mp Samsung camera and much more.
Awesome Rugged Cellphone from Unihertz
I like your reviews
Works with AT&T?
Nope, T-mobile and Verizon only unfortunately.
it's a flashlight, with a phone 😂
In the video you say there is sd card on other side of tray for Sim. WRONG!!!!!
Which I correct in the very next video and for people in the comments, but thanks. Glad it ruined your day.
👍👍👍
Sold!!!
survival phone in WW3
i mah buy a tank now
If you can get over the weight and handle it, it's incredibly cool.
Random pop up c/o algorithm. Liked AND SUBSCRIBED. Bye bye Samsung....
Thanks! It is definitely different!
Fantastic phone
You'll end up in a coma if this falls on your face
I can finish the battery in less than a month not 100days you're saying
Everyone's usage is going to be different. They claim up to 100 and with my use given that week I believe it. It's impressive no matter what.
Wish apple , google, or Samsung would do this.
If Apple did this the price would be FAAAR ABOVE their "pro" phones 😂
The Tank, eh? And yet the screen is totally unprotected so that when I drop it and it lands face down on the street it will break just like the countless other phones in my clutz y past have.
I think it’s a replica of a past Blackberry
What android version
12.
Cool
Would be nice if it had walkie talkie
the vedio is great👍👍👍
Wow!
woah i thought this was gonna be a $1000 phone. damn its cheap for $339.
Yeah, not bad at all for what you get!
Oh man I have all this battery and no signal damn it
Why no signal?
I want to have one!
Why cant this have a physical keyboard 😫
Haha, that would be pretty awesome!
I just saw their Titan series phones, that's up your alley. Blackberry Vibes.
There could be a Titan Tank one day. Maaaaaybe.

jesus christ it's a tank.
Could you gift me this one🥺🥺
