Out of safety,I wouldnt stand less than 100 metres away from any pilot doing these 3D flights. They're clearly not as good as they think and those main blades are doing in excess of 350mph.. A couple of guys have been killed doing some of these tricks.
I'd do very well ast this sport. The spectators seem to get most excited and clap in congratulations with spectacular crashes. I may become world champion almost immediately!!
I honestly can't see the point of flying model helicopters like that. Surely the skill is getting them to fly in a lifelike way? I must be getting old....hang on....I am!
Ahahaha they look absolutely ridiculous flying them like that. I could not stop laughing while imagining a full size helicopter flying around a city like this. It is not because you are old, I think it is because these people probably got bored with trying to fly them like a real helicopter. Can you imagine if an actual pilot was inside a real helicopter doing these stunts with the speed scaled up? I just can't stop laughing!
@@nathenperri2826 Its a sport - Your are supposed to push yourself with hand eye coordination and seeing what the heli is doing and reacting accordingly. Scale Flying exists and there are competitions for that. What do you say the BMX bikers look absolutely ridiculous when they are spinning and kickflpping their bike? It's fun, it takes practice and skill, and it can be competitive so people do it.

1:45 that Hörmann siren ambience tho lmfao and that helicopter definitely suffered some kind of fault. Absolutely hate it when that happens although I don’t fly 3D (I only do FPV)
@@FingerTightRC - I've seen them go out of control, and people had to run for it. There are videos of them going into spectator areas. I imagine the injuries they can cause would be horrific.
One of my first mistakes back in 1984 was to put the on off switch on the very bottom of the frame to hide it! Turing a vortex ring state landing of course it landed really hard and retained the last input as it shut the power switch off! Then up through the trees at full power and no control! I think I only had a good motor left after that one.
Of course they know how they work. They couldn't fly them with that level of skill and precision if they didn't. Plus they have to build and repair them. Duh.

I’m glad you’re qualified to fly a helicopter upside down sideways up and down but we would love to see somebody fly helicopter like supposed to be flown it’s not my idea of doing the upside down straight up and down all the stuff it’s best to show how good they helicopter Can operate successfully then I will give you a thumbs up

Skill aside, it’s always nerve racking watching model aircraft at a air show. Any minor malfunction and you have a missile out of control.
I was watching a 600 class one where the pilot lost control of it and I had to duck behind my car. Was nuts.
