Beautiful!
Flawless. Very impressive.
spot on, awesome
Beautiful playing, perfect feel and execution! Thank you for sharing this wonderful performance. Cheers!
Thanks for watching!
Great playing, Aubrey! Brings me back to that era, so fun. Neil & Geddy, talk about a great feel and groove!
Thanks brother. they were quite the dou!
Bravo!
I am convinced you are the greatest gem of a channel a drummer could ever be grateful to stumble across. God bless the algorithm for sending me past here!
Thanks for the kind words Kip, and for watching.
Amazing content here! Just liked and subbed!
This is awesome ! Finally someone breaks down the guitar solo drum fills. In particular Notable fill C.
That’s such a cool section! Thanks for watching!
Man just a great performance and those Sonors sounding so sweet!
Thanks, and thanks for watching!
AWESOME job, could really tell you were having some fun at 4:04..! Great job, had a blast watching....!
Thanks for watching!
Well done sir.
Nice work, and when the music teacher plays something and makes it look easy, you gotta know ITS REALLY DIFFICULT! your videos are top shelf, thank you.
Thanks for the kind words Jeff. Yup this one definitely is a but kicker! Lol! 🎉Thanks for watching!
Glorious ⚡️🔥✌️
Just found you. This is so damn fine. Well played, well described, and with the time signature ID’s that I always wish people did. I play in a Rush tribute band and think you play it as well as anybody I’ve seen/heard.
Thanks, and thanks for watching!
That was fantastic!!!! It would be cool to see a breakdown of "Natural Science". :) Thanks for posting!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
As usual, that was DYNAMITE !!!!! Brilliant breakdown of Neil's early '80s vocabulary, feel, creativity, originality, intensity, sensitivity, and musicianship. So much to take in with him ... well done!
Yes brother! I feel he was at his most creative at that time. He always came up with great stuff but to me, there was something magical happening with his playing during Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures. Thanks for checkin' in Adam!
@@AubreyDrumLessons Agree, majorly! And man, his drums sounded phenomenal back then, too. The whole package was very, VERY special.
Subbed. Awesome breakdown.
Thanks for watching Mike!
I think you're the first one ever to take on the challenge of breaking down that song. That was awesome! I've been trying to figure out a few parts in that song for awhile. Your video was a huge help. Thanks
@@mikedryman1905 Thanks! It's always fascinating checking out how a great drummer thinks.
Well said.
Thanks for staying true to Neil's feel and chops.
Thanks for watching Vincent! I feel that he was one of the few who could lock in a groove inside the complexities of the prong world.
As a fan and drummer, I always felt like "the Neil ride pattern" evolved directly from this song and time period. The two rights keep everything nice and on point on the right hand, and in Freewill, the left notes just ghost and 'fill in' everything that isn't right.
By Moving Pictures, he had crystallized the ride pattern and stopped ghosting the left, letting the rests do some lifting.
Then he LEANED THE F*CK INTO IT! 😂😂
I totally agree with all you've said. Thanks for watching brother!
It started in La Villa strangiato
If I could give this two likes, I would.
Well done! One of my favorites! Those cymbals sound great!!
Thanks Colin! Thanks for watching.
That exercise at the end. RLRRLRRL ostinato on the cym and snare, accent on 1234, is a cool groove when you place the bass drum in various places. Bass on 1: ah of 1: and of 3: e of 4. Experiment with different bass drum placement. Then move the ostinato to just the hi hat and play the snare on count 3. Then move that groove to the hi hat left hand and ride with right hand. Then fill coming off the grooves last left hand to a right hand on snare, bass, flam on hi tom, bass, flam on hi tom, bass, RL next tom, RLR next tom, bass, flam on snare and floor tom or snare and china, bass, RL floor tom, CRASH. Groove for 3 measures fill on 4th. One of my favorites. have fun with that. Fill inspired by Neil's big fill towards the end of Time Stand Still.
GREAT JOB!! You're a very talented Drummer! Thank you for the excellent breakdown!
...and at 3:38 holy smokes! :)
That was a lot of work, very impressive!
You're AMAZING! I really enjoyed watching you play and can't wait to come back! Thank you!
Thanks for the props Alex and thanks for watching!
Fascinating video. Thanks for breaking this down.
The smile knowing you were perfect during the solo section ❤
Thanks for watching!
Excellent. Very good. Your technique is perfect , no playing from the shoulders or flailing of the arms. You play from the wrists, no wasted movement. I've been playing since 1968 and you are the only person that has the same style of playing as me. I had a lifer Army Band Director in grades 7,8,and 9. Man was he tough, and I hated his guts, but I was first chair in grades 8&9. Today, if I could thank him I would, because I play correctly. Like you. Your ghost notes on the snare are great.
Now to your cymbals. The black ride and crash, what are they ? And the china type with the holes , what is that ? I really like the ride and crash. I'm kinda on the fence about the china. I'm going to subscribe. I like watching you work.
Thanks for the kind words, Michael, and for watching. Good technique has kept me going all these years. My cymbals are made by Dream Cymbals. The Ride is a 20" Dark Matter Bliss model, and I am using a 16" Contact crash front right and a 15" Eclipse crash front left. The crash on the far left by the Hats is an 18" Energy Crash/Ride. I hope this helps! All the best.
That little smile after the jam.
Recent subscriber to your channel and it's rapidly becoming a favorite as a beginning drummer. I've air-drummed this song since I heard it in the 80's. Now I'm trying to learn to drum in my 60's. This seems so out of reach. I love the way to break down the sections and show what is actually happening, including the time signatures. Thanks!
Welcome to the drumming club! Thanks for watching my videos as well.
DUDE! This is so dead on. Amazing job man. You totally captured that. Gave me chills.
Hey Man! It's good to hear from you. Thanks for checking this out! :)
Love that song excellent drumming👍👍👍
Brilliant! So few have the chops to pull this off, but you make it almost seem... (easy?)
Thanks Paul! It most definitely is a challenge to play. Thanks for watching!
This is fantastic! I just found your channel and subscribed. You are a master of the instrument and a master teacher.
Thanks brother!
Oh man 🤟🤟🤟
For me this song always started here. 3:58.
Yup that’s when the band really starts digging in!
Great choice….nice one!
YESSS!
Thanks brother! Your online stuff is sounding great man! :)
@@AubreyDrumLessons Thanks Aubrey, it's getting there! Hang soon!?
@@anthonyzicari Yes yes, Anytime man! Maybe go for a coffee/tea.
@@AubreyDrumLessons Sounds good to me!
You mentioned an exercise you like to do to sync up the right hand and foot (in the 6/8 solo section). Can you show and transcribe that please ?! Thanks!
Hi Michael, Thanks for watching! I put that exercise in the downloadable material. It's in 4/4 but the physical approach feels the same.
All I can say is WOW like note for note WOW and not even taxed or winded after you finished wtf
Bad ass !
