Really helped me get to know my new kit and I found out that I'm the sucker that bought a "vintage" kit. Can't complain tho, it was pretty cheap but still a good video none the less \m/
oh i remember those cinder block days and a fellow punker holding my bass drum in place in the front for me , good stuff my friend , keep em coming , cya > tom !
@@cougarsgoalie1 if you want , you can send me vids. or whatever you have/got ?, you have any cds/cdr's b.t.w. ?, email me, its on here , i am looking for a super cheap drumkit now , like under 200 $ , just a 4 piece though , good ole punkish/hardcore kit type , talk soon man > tom !
Playing on tile or wood might be one of those quintessential beginner mistakes that we don't see coming until we try them and realise how disastrous they are. A long time ago, I decided to try playing on tiles because it looked "cleaner," and midway through the first song, the bass and hihats were a metre away. I immediately rolled out the carpet again.
I definitely didn’t use carpet the first couple of times I jammed with bands as a kid. Didn’t cross my mind. Then I think I inherited a drum rug from somewhere and as soon as I tried it I was like “oh, ok. I see my mistake”
I usealy I play with the bass drum straight on and adjustable rubber tap’s in my Ludwig accent has the old school style seagull shaped legs and very sterdy
If I modify my technique to direct the force on the bass drum pedal superior -> inferior with minimal forward vector, will this help? Got a low end bass drum
Yeah it should. Normal bass drumming should have no forward component. Some types of double strokes do, however. If you have the relatively useless type of spurs that only go sideways then using an outside device is probably your best option. Either a pedal with it’s own spurs or a hoop-mounted spur.
From what I understand Buddy Rich played on wood, not carpet. I often wonder how he prevent his hi hat stand and bass drum from sliding around ... then again he also could tap dance ... me? Caveman needs RUG!

Very useful about that spur placement, fixed my problem. And also a brand new carpet.

@@RyanAlexanderBloom Awesome, thanks.
Great and informative as always
Very helpful. Thank you!
Yo do a part 2 . Don't forget most kick pedals come with spears
I’m not sure what I would say in part 2. I show the kick pedal with the spurs in this one already.
Disappointed, no front drum anchor shown? Not discussing, why not ?

I’ve done exactly that. You can see some of them in my videos…. They say Papa Murphy’s on them.
Great video - thank you!
