Epic still needs to earn our trust in their physics engines, but I’ve been having a lot of fun with vehicles without many issues for awhile now! Vehicles used to be downright unplayable. Good news is this one is a fairly quick build even if you lose one to glitches or a brute’s fury

I remember when the flying machine was a complete mess with crooked placements and steering impossible but im glad there is a community out there still playing this mode and making better flying machines
So I ended up building this thing and oh boy is it good. I had to mess with the channels because mine was just being weird and I also had to add some extra weight with with 2 extra floor pieces cause the thrusters wouldn't connect, But aside from those 2 things mainly just because my game was mad at me. It's a very fun build and i would highly recommend it.
I had to grind to make this but is 100% worth the grind 100% recommend to players who has the materials also my experience when i first tried it it went all over the place and i crashed into a ice brute
Ive made a cool modification where you can go straight up without the backwards force but still have that hard stop if you need it. This is probably the best build ive seen yet so thank you very much!
So my husband and i play together and I build the cars and he cave dives (they give me vertigo). Anyway, we have been using a modified jetpack for his main vehicle. He likes a lot of storage and i managed to pack in 4 grand chest plus 11 6-space-counters. He also likes to go up independent from going forward or turning. I, personally, hate having to turn in a circle if I miss my turn. I did screw up one build and when i had the up and down on i went right, but if i was just turning I went left. I dont know why. Anyway, i love a build that does both directions. I do have to say this takes some getting used to if you arent used to having 2 channels on at once. But you turn so fast that it doesnt matter, its easy for the worst of drivers to get around. I think you really hit the sweet spot on maintaining altitude if you are just going straight. Its very steady and you dont drop too fast at all. But my favorite feature is that it doesnt matter if you have managed to get upside down, side ways, or what not, if you turn off channel 1 and 2, and leave channel 3 on, it will right itself and fly straight. That right there is worth building this!!! The one modification im going to try is just to add a couple of ancient thin floor 1s to the bottom so its a wee bit taller underneath. In the event of a water landing/crash you get kicked out of your seat and cant get back in. From past experiences, I keep mats for an extra seat on me to place on top to get out of the water. One last thing - im an instructional designer and create training for a living and your tutorials are lovely. Such clear directions. I appreciate that you say the name of each piece that you are using, attaching to, and so forth. Very well done. ❤❤❤

And nice pro-tip on the water landings, I have notice that as well.. it’s just under enough buoyancy for you to reliably climb into it after a water landing, I’ll have to try this tip out. Good work! I built this, works great. I added another small thruster to either side directly behind of and in-line with the first two. I use channel 4 to activate the downward facing small thrusters and while moving forward, it makes it able to climb very high into the sky, quickly.
Awesome build bro . I need to add this to my fleet . I have two hauler planes and two smaller pod copters .. just finished my airport a few weeks ago while waiting for updates .. this is my favorite game of all time . I just wish they would add quests and story line quests . Still my favorite game though

yeahh. This is innit a great game, with a greater potencial then immaginable. But we NEED more content and updates. Once you max out, there is nothing more you can do. At this point, Minecraft Jave (with mods) would still be more entertaining, or at least for a longer time

I can't stop saying how much I love this. I built this and the U wing, and I'ma say, the U wing is cool, but it's more for show. THIS, now THIS is for FUNCTION! I LOVE IT!!! You can go so fast in it and you can store a solid amount in it, and it's easy to build. AMAZING!

I really would love to build this one, or even implement the controls in my own craft, but it would be impossible for me to enjoy it since every time im flying with my crafts my character will glitch out of the seat and floats behind in the air while still in control etc, oh well, this is a amazing craft!
Ohh I love it I've been waiting a week for that tutorial bcs as soon as I saw it I was like i need this it looks so simple and easy to steer I love the finished product.
It looks rad, but I would be curious what its top speed is? I do need something as fast as the game will let you fly to clear map fog. My current absurd thing goes roughly 1k m per minute.
Hey! I’m not certain it’s too speed actually, I’ll have to do some testing to get those metrics. If you’re wanting to do some quick exploring check out my video on balloon propulsion, it still works in the game right now and achieves speeds quite a bit faster than thrusters
When I saw the teaser video, I knew I would build it. I was glad to see this one this morning. I built it, and it works great! Just slightly heavier than the balloon lift so it descends nicely. I changed the thrusters so channel 1 is left, 2 is right - I think which way I want to go, not what engines I want to use. Then, on run 2, I accidentally left the seat while high in flight. Popped my glider and watched it disappear over the ocean. So I went back and got AbideGuy's 4-chest all-purpose vehicle that is supposed to float, but I never tested it. I also grabbed my telescope. I found the Stingray easily - she FLOATS! So I go down and hatch a plan to get us all back. The 4-chester floated, so I dove in, swan to the Stingray's nose. Couldn't jump into the cockpit, but got on top. Then got seated. Turned her around to the island (Star Wars) and fired forward thrusters after her nose was up.....and jumped out. I swam back to the 4-chester and got aboard. Turned her towards the island where I pointed the Stingray and hunted for the 'ray. Found her and all are back home safe and sound. Sorry about the length, but this craft is worth the effort! 10 out of 10! Thank you!
Oh, and I forgot to mention - since it was difficult to get into the cockpit like that, I put a 4x4 frost pine piece between the front lower bumper pair on the edge of the 2x6. I also added a marker so I can find her in the future, but that is affecting flight, so it may come off as I get more used to the flight characteristics.

@@generalronimus Thank you! I knew it would be a long story, so I first thought "Nah..." But then I started laughing at it and felt, "no, I have to share it!" I also have one of Kaboom's animal transporters, and two of the small speeders somebody di, but I forget who. Modified those. I also built a simple utility platform, a modern Euro-fighter-style jet, and a freight hauler (I'm betting ONE day, Epic will start running out of memory and they will announce the closure of Star Wars Island...). That one's dead simple, but is actually quite limber and straight -forward. GG's, General!
Its not the builds fault or anything and btw it works really well probably the best out there. But for some reason my thrusters on all air vehicles dont all have the same amount of "thrust." Sometimes some have more thrust than others and they are both the same type of thruster. I would then make the exact same air vehicle again with then the thrusters working perfectly on that one. Confusing it is.
Interesting observation.. It wouldn’t surprise me if something like that was going on! They definitely changed the amount of thrust thrusters generate in the recent update, maybe they introduced bugs along with it

First, thanks for the incredible time and effort put into this video, I appreciate it. Second, so I’m having an issue and would appreciate any help from anyone. I have the entire plane built exactly the same way show in the video, when I get in the drivers seat NONE of the thrusters work. What am I doing wrong? Do I have the wrong power settings on or something? Never had this issue with a vehicle before.
There’s a bug in the game right now where if you have a vehicle jack on bricks rather than the ground, none of the thrusters will work upon removing the jack. A log out and back in solves this issue, I hope it’s a simple as that for you!

Whenever I use the large thrusters the vehicle tilts to the left. Any ideas of what may be causing this and how I can fix it? Edit: Nevermind I found a fix. I just broke the check in the back and moved it a stud to the right to balance it out. My ocd doesnt like the off center chest but it’s better than a tilting and flipping aircraft lol
My guess is it’s the slightly off centered middle balloon.. if you didn’t do the half stud trick from the vid to center it, it leans a little but not enough to affect flight. If it was a large tilt that affected your flying, im not sure what was going on.. Glad you found a way to balance it though!

Hey General, is it okay if I change the material from Frostpine to Granite? Im asking this since I'm concerned if it will affect the weight of the Stingray and I dont have a lvl 10 Frost village 😅
Never tried with granite before but I don’t see why not! The worst that could happen is you might need to add or take away a balloon depending on how much of a weight difference there is. Good luck and lemme know how it goes!
Hey 👋🏾 I’m not sure this particular build would benefit all that much from the inflatable balloons. It lifts fairly way via thrusters rather than balloons. You could definitely modify it to your liking though, maybe add a few extra inflatable balloons near the other existing ones for quick elevation changes
Mann, im gonna hop onto lego and build this asap. I need these. Bdw, what do u guys think about the teletransport that is gonna be added in the next update? I think its great for very, veery large distances, but i feel like its just gonna destroy the neccesity of vehicles
It’s hard to say without the details but I would imagine fast travel will only take the place of the annoying times you need vehicles, jump stations, etc… I love flying aircraft’s, driving cars etc in LFN but if I have to drive back and forth 1k meters between two settlements it does get old. My hope is that fast travel will remove the boring parts leave the fun vehicle parts like exploration and resource transport. Great question to ask, thanks for asking it!
I had troubles understanding the second lego on the wing, and for some reasons I fought 20mins with thruster config... it flies very bad when you config them bad :) finally it works like a charm, I may do a french vid about your Stingray soon. im being honest, i recently found your channel and i watch the vid about tje stingrays, and they look sick! i decied to wait for the tutorial and build it. First time i built it.. i abandoned it becuase a few parts werent perfectly built. Then i tried it the second time. there was small issues, but were fixed. One of them was not getting in the driver seat, i had to break the second ancient floor 3. (Dont worry it was flying in the air prefectly) when i was done, i look at the controls.
although on my channel i play roblox i also play fortnite. Thank you so much with the tutorial though, im gonna be flying around the map.
I had this vehicle before the last update and it worked great. I build a copy to fly on the lost island but for whatever reason mechanics are no longer the same… vehicle is not flying smooth or straight anymore and I followed the exactly same instructions… not sure what else to do. It was my favorite vehicle to fly around
my bff and i made these and the thrusters arent working. theres also a 4th channel now? we’ve both tried replacing the drivers seat and exiting the game, neither worked. help!
Oh no! I had a similar issue recently actually, where re-logging still didn’t do the trick. I think it was because someone else was still in the world, thus that “session” or world initialization on Epic’s server side was still going. If you haven’t already, I would make sure both of you and anyone else are logged out at the same time and maybe give it 10-15 minutes or something so that the next time you enter, the world is reinitialized. Really hope this helps!
I know you built this in creative because you didnt place engine. I ended up putting medium power center on back of stingray which worked fine :) thanks for tutorial and will look forward to what you build next :)
Hey! So glad you are enjoying the build! 😄 I did actually build it in survival in this tutorial, it requires no engine or wheels to fly. But good to know you can add an engine with no issues! I’ve seen a couple people ask if you’re able to add wheels and I think that answers the question

You’re not doing anything wrong, it’s a bug in the game currently. Sometimes logging out and in or leaving the build menu will allow it to place properly. Hope you get it cooperating!
I was thinking about the next update,they will put catapults. And they I have remenber the dropship with the at-te from attack of the clones. How about a dropship that drops catapults.💥
Honestly the game glitched out while I was playing and I decided to take advantage and record while it looked like that 😂 😂 hadn’t heard of the technique @madoo97 mentioned, but I’ll have to give that a try!
If you can stand in front of a fence , column, something where you have to back up to it and have a small working space in front of you, it will force your view into first person. It works here placing the balloons because you have the cargo bay behind you. I will sometimes place a column behind me when I'm doing precise building for this reason.
Personally I left the thrusters as they were and used channel 4 for a balloon engine I attached on top to get around faster. But others have mentioned setting the lift thrusters to channel 4. Totally your choice since the ship flies just fine on 3 channels!

Is it just me or someone else is having the same problem. I am having problems adding the large fenders in the front, for some reason the positioning is different with the video explanation. I had to guess by watching and zooming the video, because for some reason, the video also in the low quality doesn't help much. Now im struggling with the large fenders and their position. I had struggled for 1 hour now, and still, i cannot position them correctly. A better quality and explained video will help us a lot.
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this build! I hope this comes across as genuine and not insulting but, did you try to adjust the video quality setting in RUclips? The video was cut in 1080P HD with the highest frames per second possible, but RUclips will often auto adjust your quality based on your network. Anyways, the key to placing the first medium fender is ensuring you are targeting as close to where the thruster meets the flooring as possible so it will let you place the directional fender directly on the flooring, and it needs to be placed as far to the side as possible. Similarly the key to the large fender (if all other steps were followed properly) is targeting the back of the medium fender such that the 2 node width of the large fender matches the 2 node width of he medium fender; and then nudging outward as far as it will go until eventually the inside curve of the large fender will bump into the inside of the ships wall. I hope this was in any way helpful and wish you the best in your build!
The only time my jacks crumble is if I put a dynamic foundation on top as it doesn’t snap to whatever surface you place it on.. is yours crumbling when you place flooring on it?
If it says it’s placing but just eats your resources that’s a known bug and you should try logging out and back in. If it’s not even letting you place, it could be a small misplacement of those thin floorings on the sides of the ship that the thrusters attach to. You may have to re-watch that part of tutorial, slow it down if you have to. I hope this helps, good luck!
It can be frustrating, especially if you don’t do a lot of directional building. Pressure plates can also work in place of thrusters for directional builds, that might be a little easier. Good luck with the build!
Hey! Personally, there wasn’t much I would change about the Stingray, im more concerned about the Troop Transport’s antiquated controls haha however commenter @AndrewBlevins suggest changing downward facing thrusters to channel 4 so that lift is taken care of by one standalone channel rather than the combination of the turning channels. You might give that a go, I haven’t tried myself yet
It's a bug where the game thinks you placed it but it's not connected thus not appearing and instead wasting your mats. It happens to tires placed on the very edge of it's connector. I suggest you put it near the center piece so it attatches.
It’s happened to me as well, the bug has been around for ages and it’s really annoying.. I typically have to exit and re-enter the build menu or in some cases I have even exit and re-entered the game for it to start registering my placements

Wow that is so kind of you to say, and that mod sounds great! With a ship this small, very small thruster adjustments can make a world of difference

I really would love to build this one, or even implement the controls in my own craft, but it would be impossible for me to enjoy it since every time im flying with my crafts my character will glitch out of the seat and floats behind in the air while still in control etc, oh well, this is a amazing craft!

with the new update, i put the upward thrusters to channel 4 so i can make it like a rocket ship type of going up mixing channel 3 and 4

It looks rad, but I would be curious what its top speed is? I do need something as fast as the game will let you fly to clear map fog. My current absurd thing goes roughly 1k m per minute.
Hey! I’m not certain it’s too speed actually, I’ll have to do some testing to get those metrics. If you’re wanting to do some quick exploring check out my video on balloon propulsion, it still works in the game right now and achieves speeds quite a bit faster than thrusters
When I saw the teaser video, I knew I would build it. I was glad to see this one this morning. I built it, and it works great! Just slightly heavier than the balloon lift so it descends nicely. I changed the thrusters so channel 1 is left, 2 is right - I think which way I want to go, not what engines I want to use. Then, on run 2, I accidentally left the seat while high in flight. Popped my glider and watched it disappear over the ocean. So I went back and got AbideGuy's 4-chest all-purpose vehicle that is supposed to float, but I never tested it. I also grabbed my telescope. I found the Stingray easily - she FLOATS! So I go down and hatch a plan to get us all back. The 4-chester floated, so I dove in, swan to the Stingray's nose. Couldn't jump into the cockpit, but got on top. Then got seated. Turned her around to the island (Star Wars) and fired forward thrusters after her nose was up.....and jumped out. I swam back to the 4-chester and got aboard. Turned her towards the island where I pointed the Stingray and hunted for the 'ray. Found her and all are back home safe and sound.
Sorry about the length, but this craft is worth the effort! 10 out of 10! Thank you!
Oh, and I forgot to mention - since it was difficult to get into the cockpit like that, I put a 4x4 frost pine piece between the front lower bumper pair on the edge of the 2x6. I also added a marker so I can find her in the future, but that is affecting flight, so it may come off as I get more used to the flight characteristics.

@@generalronimus Thank you! I knew it would be a long story, so I first thought "Nah..." But then I started laughing at it and felt, "no, I have to share it!" I also have one of Kaboom's animal transporters, and two of the small speeders somebody di, but I forget who. Modified those. I also built a simple utility platform, a modern Euro-fighter-style jet, and a freight hauler (I'm betting ONE day, Epic will start running out of memory and they will announce the closure of Star Wars Island...). That one's dead simple, but is actually quite limber and straight -forward. GG's, General!
Its not the builds fault or anything and btw it works really well probably the best out there. But for some reason my thrusters on all air vehicles dont all have the same amount of "thrust." Sometimes some have more thrust than others and they are both the same type of thruster. I would then make the exact same air vehicle again with then the thrusters working perfectly on that one. Confusing it is.
Interesting observation.. It wouldn’t surprise me if something like that was going on! They definitely changed the amount of thrust thrusters generate in the recent update, maybe they introduced bugs along with it

The thruster technique takes a little practice, you have to ensure you’re targeting the very edge of the base so the fender connects to the flooring
I set the upwards facing thrusters also to 4 so I can go vertically without moving

First, thanks for the incredible time and effort put into this video, I appreciate it. Second, so I’m having an issue and would appreciate any help from anyone. I have the entire plane built exactly the same way show in the video, when I get in the drivers seat NONE of the thrusters work. What am I doing wrong? Do I have the wrong power settings on or something? Never had this issue with a vehicle before.
There’s a bug in the game right now where if you have a vehicle jack on bricks rather than the ground, none of the thrusters will work upon removing the jack. A log out and back in solves this issue, I hope it’s a simple as that for you!
yo i had the same problem before when building a car just remove and place the driving seat again that worked for me

Whenever I use the large thrusters the vehicle tilts to the left. Any ideas of what may be causing this and how I can fix it?
Edit: Nevermind I found a fix. I just broke the check in the back and moved it a stud to the right to balance it out. My ocd doesnt like the off center chest but it’s better than a tilting and flipping aircraft lol
My guess is it’s the slightly off centered middle balloon.. if you didn’t do the half stud trick from the vid to center it, it leans a little but not enough to affect flight. If it was a large tilt that affected your flying, im not sure what was going on.. Glad you found a way to balance it though!

Hey General, is it okay if I change the material from Frostpine to Granite? Im asking this since I'm concerned if it will affect the weight of the Stingray and I dont have a lvl 10 Frost village 😅
Never tried with granite before but I don’t see why not! The worst that could happen is you might need to add or take away a balloon depending on how much of a weight difference there is. Good luck and lemme know how it goes!

Hey 👋🏾 I’m not sure this particular build would benefit all that much from the inflatable balloons. It lifts fairly way via thrusters rather than balloons. You could definitely modify it to your liking though, maybe add a few extra inflatable balloons near the other existing ones for quick elevation changes

Mann, im gonna hop onto lego and build this asap. I need these. Bdw, what do u guys think about the teletransport that is gonna be added in the next update? I think its great for very, veery large distances, but i feel like its just gonna destroy the neccesity of vehicles
If the costs are something that make it prohibited then vehicles are still worth building.
It’s hard to say without the details but I would imagine fast travel will only take the place of the annoying times you need vehicles, jump stations, etc… I love flying aircraft’s, driving cars etc in LFN but if I have to drive back and forth 1k meters between two settlements it does get old. My hope is that fast travel will remove the boring parts leave the fun vehicle parts like exploration and resource transport. Great question to ask, thanks for asking it!
I had troubles understanding the second lego on the wing, and for some reasons I fought 20mins with thruster config... it flies very bad when you config them bad :) finally it works like a charm, I may do a french vid about your Stingray soon. I miss a bed to reset the gps. EDIT : video is live on " mEish6VyvRk "

im being honest, i recently found your channel and i watch the vid about tje stingrays, and they look sick! i decied to wait for the tutorial and build it. First time i built it.. i abandoned it becuase a few parts werent perfectly built. Then i tried it the second time. there was small issues, but were fixed. One of them was not getting in the driver seat, i had to break the second ancient floor 3. (Dont worry it was flying in the air prefectly) when i was done, i look at the controls.
although on my channel i play roblox i also play fortnite. Thank you so much with the tutorial though, im gonna be flying around the map.

I had this vehicle before the last update and it worked great. I build a copy to fly on the lost island but for whatever reason mechanics are no longer the same… vehicle is not flying smooth or straight anymore and I followed the exactly same instructions… not sure what else to do. It was my favorite vehicle to fly around

my bff and i made these and the thrusters arent working. theres also a 4th channel now? we’ve both tried replacing the drivers seat and exiting the game, neither worked. help!
Oh no! I had a similar issue recently actually, where re-logging still didn’t do the trick. I think it was because someone else was still in the world, thus that “session” or world initialization on Epic’s server side was still going. If you haven’t already, I would make sure both of you and anyone else are logged out at the same time and maybe give it 10-15 minutes or something so that the next time you enter, the world is reinitialized.

Hey! So glad you are enjoying the build! 😄 I did actually build it in survival in this tutorial, it requires no engine or wheels to fly. But good to know you can add an engine with no issues! I’ve seen a couple people ask if you’re able to add wheels and I think that answers the question

You’re not doing anything wrong, it’s a bug in the game currently. Sometimes logging out and in or leaving the build menu will allow it to place properly. Hope you get it cooperating!

You equip the micro binocular or the spy glass on your hand then get inside then press the opposite trigger then the one you press outside the vehicle
Honestly the game glitched out while I was playing and I decided to take advantage and record while it looked like that 😂 😂 hadn’t heard of the technique @madoo97 mentioned, but I’ll have to give that a try!
If you can stand in front of a fence , column, something where you have to back up to it and have a small working space in front of you, it will force your view into first person. It works here placing the balloons because you have the cargo bay behind you. I will sometimes place a column behind me when I'm doing precise building for this reason.

I would try logging out and back in, there’s a bug in-game preventing thrusters from working right after dropping it off the jack

You can built it without ancient flooring if you’d like, other people have made it with wood or granite flooring and said it worked well!

Will you rearrange the thresters after adding channel 4 or is that enough?
Personally I left the thrusters as they were and used channel 4 for a balloon engine I attached on top to get around faster. But others have mentioned setting the lift thrusters to channel 4. Totally your choice since the ship flies just fine on 3 channels!

Is it just me or someone else is having the same problem. I am having problems adding the large fenders in the front, for some reason the positioning is different with the video explanation. I had to guess by watching and zooming the video, because for some reason, the video also in the low quality doesn't help much. Now im struggling with the large fenders and their position. I had struggled for 1 hour now, and still, i cannot position them correctly. A better quality and explained video will help us a lot.
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this build! I hope this comes across as genuine and not insulting but, did you try to adjust the video quality setting in RUclips? The video was cut in 1080P HD with the highest frames per second possible, but RUclips will often auto adjust your quality based on your network.
Anyways, the key to placing the first medium fender is ensuring you are targeting as close to where the thruster meets the flooring as possible so it will let you place the directional fender directly on the flooring, and it needs to be placed as far to the side as possible. Similarly the key to the large fender (if all other steps were followed properly) is targeting the back of the medium fender such that the 2 node width of the large fender matches the 2 node width of he medium fender; and then nudging outward as far as it will go until eventually the inside curve of the large fender will bump into the inside of the ships wall.

How do you keep the jacks standing mine keeps crumbling.
The only time my jacks crumble is if I put a dynamic foundation on top as it doesn’t snap to whatever surface you place it on.. is yours crumbling when you place flooring on it?

I just built it in my world, however, the thrusters small thrusters dont fit properly, can you hlep please general?
If it says it’s placing but just eats your resources that’s a known bug and you should try logging out and back in. If it’s not even letting you place, it could be a small misplacement of those thin floorings on the sides of the ship that the thrusters attach to. You may have to re-watch that part of tutorial, slow it down if you have to. I hope this helps, good luck!

It can be frustrating, especially if you don’t do a lot of directional building. Pressure plates can also work in place of thrusters for directional builds, that might be a little easier. Good luck with the build!
Upgraded stingray tutorial plz, with a fourth channel for easier handling?
Hey! Personally, there wasn’t much I would change about the Stingray, im more concerned about the Troop Transport’s antiquated controls haha however commenter @AndrewBlevins suggest changing downward facing thrusters to channel 4 so that lift is taken care of by one standalone channel rather than the combination of the turning channels. You might give that a go, I haven’t tried myself yet

It's a bug where the game thinks you placed it but it's not connected thus not appearing and instead wasting your mats. It happens to tires placed on the very edge of it's connector. I suggest you put it near the center piece so it attatches.
It’s happened to me as well, the bug has been around for ages and it’s really annoying.. I typically have to exit and re-enter the build menu or in some cases I have even exit and re-entered the game for it to start registering my placements
