ROFL, you have no idea what you are talking about, do you willie? :D It's really hard to see which exact bullet hit where exactly and who exactly shot it, especially in the middle of a fight while you are also piloting a triplane which doesn't even have a cockpit canopy. :D But I guess that's too complicated for a dummy like you, right willie? ;-D You expect everyone to know exactly where every single one of his bullets landed, right? You are dumb like that... :D

What an excellent piece. Very well put together. A couple of points. Capt von Richtofen was shot by Pte. Earnest Wale of the 2nd Aust Pioneer Btln. with a single .303 round from a Lee Enfield rifle at a range of about 600 yards. The pilot was still alive when the first soldier (a British private) arrived. He mumbled a sentence in German that included the word "kaput", then sighed and died. The Australian troops mobbed the site, stripped the pilot down to the pyjamas he wore under his uniform, and tore the aircraft apart, before Australian Military Police could restore control, and recover the corpse. The pall-bearers at the funeral, were all of the rank of Captain (as was Capt. von Richtofen), and came from the local Australian Flying Corp unit. (The Royal Australian Air Force had not yet been formed). Allied aircraft dropped a letter of condolence, and photo of the funeral to the Baron's comrades at the German airfield. Jonno.

Goering was NOT with Richthofen on that final flight. As usual with public presentations or movies of this event, this video got some elementary facts WRONG. And @jonno while it could have been a regular infantryman with a rifle using the same ammo as the aircraft and ground machine guns (.303), some evidence suggests it was a long range shot from Sgt. Popkins because the bullet that killed him was allegedly found on the stretcher and the damage done by tumbling seemed to indicate the bullet was fired from long range. However Dale Titler (author of "The Day The Red Baron Died") insisted to me in personal correspondence that it was Buie and Evans who killed von Richthofen from their positions on the ridge.. In the 1950s and 1960s Titler talked and corresponded with many witnesses and also researched private and public collections of documents.

A more gallant and noble era back then.
Enemies had respect for each other's abilities it's a shame ww1 ever broke out too many good men on both sides died for nothing.

Hey looking back of 1918 ww1 theory possible the Red baron knew he might be captured took a pistol and shot himself to keep from being taken alive ? Or was the Red baron Adolf Hitler really because back in ww1 corporals and Sergeants and privates were being made into pilot's on all sides Hitler had the Iron cross those guys got them back then for being veteran pilots.and Looking at Hitler with his smile and grin he resembled charlie Brown's snoopy with the cap and goggles I had a cap and goggles like that when I was almost 4 years old.and another object with big round eyes and smile like teeth.silver.

Why does noone mention his "advanced tactics"? :D He used his squadron as a bait while flying higher, diving down and attacking when he felt like he has the advantage. True German hero and an inspiration, right? xD If you can find a dumbass who will die for you, you don't have to die yourself. Be a coward, become a famous hero for it. Got it, lesson learned! :D
