Decluttering my kitchen was the best project ever! I have empty cabinets and only have the absolute necessary. This makes cooking and cleaning up sooo easy.
@ start by putting away what you don’t use on a daily basis. You don’t have to donate it right away. Just put it in a bin in the garage and pull things as you need. What I didn’t use in a 6 month time got donated.
1: Clothes 1:56 - I am down to just over 30 items year round from over 250 a few years back and it feels great. Mornings are easier, I enjoy getting dressed and laundry is a breeze. I kept the favourites, began to understand what I really like versus what I ought to like, let go of perfection and embraced comfort. 2: Bedroom 2:19 just finished here and love waking up to the freedom of an uncluttered space 3: Living Room 2:49 clearing the horizontal and storage spaces made such a difference from cleaning & dusting to enjoying family time 4: Bathroom 3:10 cleared the counters and the undersinks. Cleaning is a breeze and so is getting ready every morning 5: Desk 3:31 that was done this spring, still working on it a bit more 6: Kitchen 4:00 did the cabinets, drawers and countertops using that question you asked 2 years ago- if you didn’t have this, what would you use instead. That took out a lot of excess. I actually enjoy cooking and cleanup now. Who knew that was possible?😂 7: Toy Room 4:20 - I am a grandmother but I did let go of a lot of their baby toys leaving the things they still enjoy. Room to add fresh toys when the older ones are gone. I use the limit of an ikea storage footstool. My asthma has improved, cleaning is a breeze and life is a lot easier now. Thank you Josh!❤👍
We took the '10 items a day for 30 days' of decluttering challenge. Wow! We kept going and did it for 38 days. What a difference that made. Thank you Joshua for the push we needed.
Back in the 90s when I was a nanny, I taught the children to help me declutter their room. I told them that there were other children out there who didn't have anything, and it was good to share. I think cluttered every change of season. Make it a teaching moment.
That creates a huge roadblock for some in the way to an uncluttered existence. People are not here to use stuff up or punish themselves for past mistakes. Humans are not landfills, nor are their homes. Far better to donate things so others can use them too. Those struggling with excess will experience the freedom and learn to buy less.
@@kamloopscruiser874 I'm talking about unused products that are opened. Hard to donate those. At least the contents could be dumped into the garbage if no one is going to use/eat them and the containers cleaned out and recycled or reused. That would at least keep the containers out of landfills. Most of the containers are plastic. Even glass will sit in a landfill forever and not decompose.
For anyone who doesn't like a shampoo or conditioner, shaving cream or similar product... use it as a shower gel or hand soap. Use hand and foot creams for all other the body. ❤
@@MikeyDonna I have a friend who has a toy room full and her husband is wanting to clean it out to make an office. Every time she went to the store she came home with more trinkets for their 2 kids. He explained to her that any toys they wanted to keep were in their rooms now and the rest can be decluttered. Their kids are 22 and 19!
To me it’s a generic term to help people see toys wherever they live in people’s homes. Too many toys is a very big problem for a lot of parents in North America and Western Europe where affluence is a problem.
This is an interesting comment because i always have had my kids keep their toys in the basement playroom rather than their rooms because i thought it better for sleep and so they would play together but really it was unnecessary. Also my thought is these minimalist wardrobes we see are just normal in most of the world. In southern china college students would have eight to a room (bunk beds) and keep all their clothes hanging on a balcony but each girl only had a few outfits so it looked like clothes for less than one American girl… but your comment made me think my overwhelm with the playroom may be completely unnecessary. So many little barbie things and lego (fortunately my son keeps legos in his bedroom now and in bins by color) but I am the culprit who bought them. :) less is more. A playroom actually wasn’t needed and just added more stress.
Thank you, I do practice minimalism but just spent 10 minutes tidying my desk which is always cluttered. I think I need to sort out where best to put the various paperwork.
In the Intro I thought it's about small ares we can change which will have a big impact but all of the examples are really big and broad, also I wish there was more of an instruction how to declutter them
I’m cleaning up after a couple of moving renters as of late and I am seeing a litany of things I never even knew existed. 😅😅 It’s like they sell “specialty” products for every little thing (like 10 diff hair serums or a diff cream for every body part) and I think they bot every single one of them. I find it overwhelming and mind boggling. 🤯🤯 Lol. (Esp pertaining to bathroom/beauty items).
Also, I need to declutter my desk. But what do you do if everything that’s sitting out is a to-do item? Sit for hours and get it all done? Shove it away and forget to do it (I may or may not be speaking from experience)? I think this hang-up is delaying my progress.
@@mjcossel6136 Put everything nicely in an envelope one for each task- Immediately your desk loooks nice and inviting. Then choose each day a task according to the time you have that day - but at least a little one every single day. Sunday you choose the biggest one plus you do all the little things dropping in during that week. You will be done with everything sooner than you may hope.

Wow. 10 items a day for 30 days? I don't think I want to or have 300 tings to give away.
Joshua definitely has impacted my life. I am decluttering regularly 😊
That's wonderful. You'll love owning less!
Hauling 8 bags out tomorrow 🎉. Lost weight and hauled out 9 bags then. Working on getting the excess out the door!
GOOD JOB! 👍🏻🤗🇦🇺
The kitchen counters, the appliances and shoes were some of my best quick wins
I find shoes so hard I love them all!!
I'm currently in round 14 of the 30 Day Minimalism Game. The changes and improvements in my home are really drastic now ☺️❤️
Wow! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 go, you!

Like getting out debt. Start with the smallest balance. When paid off you are encouraged to work on the next smallest until it’s all paid off.
Don't throw away your unused products. Use them up first. And recycle the containers.
100% .. make yourself aware of those by putting them out or in front .. same with food in the freezer

I find it odd that people go buy more stuff before using up the last of the old lot. I’m super OCD, though!! 😂🫤

this video’s take really clicks with some of the things I've been reading in ebook magnetic aura from Borlest
Love your ideas. Thank you for taking the time to make this. Have a great day with your family x
I usually do 1 in and 2 out, it helps a lot. ❤
Excellent information and really well explained. Thank you!

I’m in my 80’s and I would never have dreamed that people would some day designate a whole room to toys. What has happened to us?!

I think minimalism is boring and depressing.

this is useless content. Should be renamed into "different parts of the flat that can be decluttered or how I put out more content for the algorithm".
Ouch!

Just don't add more. It will make the plant clutter
