    Tagalog Lessons
    Ginataan --- (pronounced: GHEE-nah-ta-AN)
Gata ----(noun); is the root word of "ginataan". It refers to coconut milk or coconut cream.
Ginataan is a Filipino term that describes dishes cooked with coconut milk.
The word itself means “cooked with coconut milk.
    So, the structure is:
gin- (prefix indicating the action has been done)
gata (root word meaning coconut milk)
-an (suffix indicating the process or result)
This combination forms “ginataan,” and when describing a specific dish, it becomes “ginataan + g” followed by the name of the main ingredient, such as papaya.
Therefore, “ginataang papaya” means “papaya cooked in coconut milk."

    Tagalog Lessons
Pinapaitan --- is a traditional Filipino dish known for its bitter taste. This dish is usually made with goat or beef innards and is flavored with bile, which gives it its unique bitterness.
Pinapaitan originated in the Ilocos region of the Philippines and is a staple in Ilocano cuisine.
"Pinapaitang kambing" (bitter goat stew) is not a standard term, but you might hear it used informally to specify that the pinapaitan is made with goat (kambing) meat.
However, the correct and commonly used term is simply "pinapaitan."
Pait --- (noun) is the root word of pinapaitan
--- It means bitter, bitter taste or bitterness
    So, the structure is:
pina- (prefix indicating the action is being done or has been done to the root word)
    pait (root word meaning bitter)
-an (suffix indicating the process or result)

It’s also nice to know his story as an OFW and how he went back home to start their karinderya. I’m glad kuya made it home before the conflict in Israel began. I’m so proud of our fellow OFWs around the world. Employers truly cherish and seek out Filipinos for their dedication and hard work.
Natanong na naman si Kuya Kurt about sa status niya, pero ang bilis niya pinalitan ang topic...haha.. It’s a good thing they aren’t too nosy or teasing like some people who can make uncomfortable remarks. They are such a polite and kind couple. ❣

Magandang araw, @TagalogKurt! This was an excellent interaction video with the owners of Junida's Canteen. You discovered that Filipinos usually combine names to name their business and/or their kids. For this one, Jun and Nida became Junida. Share ko lang. Ang pangalan ng anak kong lalaki is the same way. My name plus my wife's name combined to form my son's name. Patok yun sa mga Pinoys. Keep up the great work of kindness towards Filipino carinderias. I truly admire your adventurous spirit in trying out different dishes. It’s not every day that you come across such variety in a typical Filipino household. Even I haven’t gotten used to some of these dishes.
Remember, what you find delicious might not be the same for others. In contrast, what you think isn’t tasty could be someone else’s favorite dish. It’s important to respect every culture, as well as the traditional foods of different regions, no matter how unappetizing it looks to you.
Kuya Kurt, super gwapo ka na sa aking paningin hindi dahil sa palabas mong hitsura pero dahil sa personality mo at kabaitan ng puso mo. Sana po ay hindi ka magbago.

If given the chance, I would love to savor the unique dishes of the various tribes in the Philippines and connect with the local people. While many of us have dined at fancy restaurants abroad, visited stunning destinations, and met renowned personalities, politicians, and celebrities, only a few truly appreciate the rich cultures of minority communities.
Huwag kang maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan. (Do not be a stranger in your own land.)
This phrase encourages people to stay connected to their roots and appreciate their own culture and heritage.
I understand it’s all about karinderya, but I just want to share my perspective on the question: What Filipino dish have you always wanted to try?🙂

Someone remarked that the food was unappetizing and unfamiliar. While this might be true for some, those who understand the origins and preparation of their food would likely have a different perspective. Personally, I learned how to manually slaught*r and dress a chicken at the age of 10. I also assisted in the process of preparing pigs for consumption. Seeing the anatomy of these animals became a familiar sight for me.
The most challenging task for me was cleaning and preparing the innards and intestines by hand. It often took me a few hours to ensure they were thoroughly cleaned, especially since I was doing it alone. In the province, there are numerous steps involved in this process, including turning the intestines inside out, peeling off certain parts, and scraping them clean. We also use natural ingredients to eliminate any unpleasant odors and ensure they are hygienic. I apologize if my story makes anyone feel uncomfortable.😆🤭✌
Understanding the source and preparation of my food has given me a deep appreciation for dishes like bopis and dinuguan. This knowledge allows me to enjoy these traditional meals without any sense of disgust.

@@sweetmorena I dont get why people find karenderya food unappetizing, when I was a kid then yes I'll be honest hearing that they used intestines etc. for cooking food would have disgusted me but now I realize especially after travelling in different places like Mindanao that karenderya food is literally one of the elements of the heart and soul of the culture in that part of the Philippines. Everytime we do a stopover during travel we would always eat at these types of places and you better believe that even though its super cheap the food is definitely 10/10.
P.S everyone should definitely give Balbacua a try when travelling to Mindanao pramis masarap isabaw sa kanin hahaha
