Hattie Maloney (Ann Sothern) is a gaudy, good-hearted nightclub singer who tends to love above her station. This time, it’s pedigreed officer Dick Bulliet (Dan Dailey, Jr.), and it’s for real. But there’s one little problem: he’s got a small daughter so ladylike she makes Emily Post look like Tugboat Annie - and she’s not impressed with Hattie’s bangles and bows. And Hattie’s got a trio of protectors, three goofball gobs who think that maybe Hattie’s too good for Dick. This World War II musical sparkles with Cole Porter's music and lyrics.
Directed By Norman Z. McLeod, Roy Del Ruth, Vincente Minnelli
Starring Red Skelton, Ann Sothern, Rags Ragland

I have this fun and entertaining movie in my files...and the thing is I can’t even explain how I absolutely love and adore Ann Sothern, who’ve I only recently discovered...don’t ask me how I’d ever missed this amazing woman during my lifetime.
Ann Sothern does a fantastic job with this Ethel Merman song! It's a shame they didn't let her sing a third verse because the song just gets going when it's over.
Great performance by the amazing Ann Sothern.
Underrated..one of my favourites..So underrated!
Thank you for loading this clip ☺
0:27 - “And when she blitzes you, you stay blitzed!” sing the men, while giving a sort of Nazi salute. And that wasn’t by accident, because the Nazi term for a sudden, powerful attack was “blitzkreig”, which means “lightning war”. This term quickly got into use in English when the Germans started WWII in Europe in 1939, and was shortened to “The Blitz” to describe bombing raids on England from 1940 onwards.
The Lyric is not "Blitzed" The word is "Blissed" as in "A State of Bliss"
The arm gesture that those Guys make is NOT a Nazi salute!
@@oldmisterhoward1913 Nope. Wrong.
When young people hear this song they will wonder what Castor Oil is and who were Mrs.Astor & Norma Shearer…..when you’ve got your health you can afford to be wild & carefree !
Beautiful rendition but I still love Bette Midler's more. And Otto Titsling is just a hoot as well.
0:26 I’m surprised they could still make that gesture in 1942
Luv it .
Too bad this movie didn't star Ether Merman.
But, it has Ann Sothern!!!
