Ilya was a Russian KGB op working in the Russian embassy in the U.S. After this tragedy he returns to Katarina to help her with her mess. Later The fire happens. He saves Masha. The real Reddington had a wife and daughter, Carla and Jennifer. He left them to keep them safe from the Cabal and the Russians looking for the fulcrum. Then he discovers Katarina is working for the Cabal and has betrayed him. Navy records him as a deserter to his family on Christmas Eve 1991. Yet Carla says he left them on a Wednesday. They argue that and where Masha will live. KGB ops come to find the fulcrum, Ilya is there. (See above) Reddington is shot by Masha, then Fire erupts. Ilya saves Masha. Many facts are inaccurate and not consistent. But the entire story clearly shows two different men having two different families. Many fans seem to confuse them altogether when this is incorrect.
