    the definition of "aim assist" used by Activision is now wrong. they should call it what it really is: "auto aim"

    • @naughtymaggot2947
      @naughtymaggot2947 9 месяцев назад

      It's not so much auto aim as it is auto tracking. You still have to actually press a button to initiate the aim in the general direction of an enemy for it to lock on and stick to them.
      The bigger issue I think is the ability to use the controller platform to disguise cheats through it.
      Xim, Titan, rewasd, Cronus etc.
      Like the video explains, whilst also giving controller users the ability to have no recoil and other mods, making the AA even stronger, the bigger issue is the ability to use a mouse disguised as a controller basically resulting in something extremely close to an aim bot.
      So now if you're against a controller player you have no idea if it is just the ridiculous AA being broken or something more nefarious.
      Most of these cheat devices aren't even targeted by anti-cheat. They sell millions of units and the liklihood that you play against them on a regular basis, purely based on sales figures, must be extremely high.
      In my opinion this is the worst state the FPS genre has ever been in regarding cheating.
      So to sum it up. If you're lucky enough to actually be playing in a lobby with nobody cheating on conteoller, then you'll still be SOL due to the in-built aim lock they're given.

    I was a semi professional athlete in my youth, as a fencer we are generally very quick, and I took part in "human benchmarking" early on. I am in the 99th percentile for how quick my reaction times are in general, around 180-190ms on average(It's kind of common in these sorts of sports).
    My main argument against rotational AA is exactly that, the speed of it and the reaction time.
    A typical human reacts at a speed of about 250ms, the time it takes for you to process an action, send the signal to the brain and react. The fastest time EVER measured is 150ms.
    At a ping of 40 , directional aim assist in fast paced titles is unbeatable. It is an instantaneous reaction, around 16.67ms in a 60 FPS title(how long it takes to render a frame).
    To be able to beat that. you need to react faster, than the fastest human that ever lived.
    It is, quite literally superhuman.

      You don't have 144 nor 170 reaction time. Whatever you think and believe, you don't. And it's not because of the age. On the fastest oced PC with the fastest input devices and the fastest Internet that is tweaked to 6ms with no buffer bloat you won't get 170. Maybe lucky 1 in 10. Maybe. And I doubt you have your PC tweaked to such levels. Unless you're 1 in a million like me you still wouldn't have anywhere near 170 average 😉. I even bought a Zen device for my M\K setup but never used it due to not wanting to get banned. • @moonpiespotlight4759
    @moonpiespotlight4759 Год назад +3

    I've always played on kb/m but recently tried controller. I did notice the magnetic aim assist and after a few games I was able to snipe and shoot through smoke and dust without even seeing the target. So to me, it's not "aim assist" specifically. It's "target acquisition" because you don't have to aim, you just use the ADS and even if you don't and the enemy is close, the AA will spin you around towards the enemy like a dog on a leash pulling you. That's not assisting your aim. I am convinced that, in many instances, I was getting killed by people who didn't intend to shoot me because they didn't know I was there, they were locked on to one player, killed that person and their aim indexed to me. They didn't need to manually aim.
    So it's not cheating since it's part of the game. If you're using a 3rd party software to emulate the controller so you can use aim assist, you're cheating. It might be undetectable but it's still a cheat. It's like reverse boosting to get soft lobbies, or using a VPN to get foreign soft lobbies for twitch streaming. It's all shady and poor sportsmanship but in this game everyone is doing it.
    But yes, the AA on controller, all else being equal, puts kb/m players at a severe disadvantage and anyone who says otherwise is likely playing on a controller and has the option to turn off AA (but they won't).

      You say its target acquisition lol in my book if one does not have this assistance and goes against someone who does... this disadvantage is not fair nor is it warranted. For instance 2 pc players on on mnk and one on controller (we know they are on pc) we can also clearly see the input they are using but is it a fair disadvantage? What if one had legal aimbot? Oh wait they do cuz aimbot will do the same thing for a bad player as you say lock on to the next available target... now aimbot is way more sophisticated then aim assist because you can have it lock to parts of the body so it looks more natural. And aimbot users are on mnk mostly... but the controller cheaters are out there too. When it comes down to it an leveling the playing field is what id say fair game. Aim assist is this legal aimbot. Plain and simple and to say someone emulating the same input to get assist on mouse is cheating is hypocrisy 😂😂. At the end of the day the disadvantage is gone but a new one rises. Which is who is a better aimer? So skill is still required.

    Dont give mouse any sort of AA. At minimum you can give MNK a small amount of bullet magnetism to comoensate for the wonky reticle sway they have so that way if youre centered on a target within a guns respective max dmg range and the sights are roughly on the hitbox there should be s subtle window for bullet magnetism. Main reasoning is it can also alleviate some of the desync in this gsme and desync also breaks the sights of all guns bc the derver csnt keep track of your reticle relstive to your screen. Even though your tracers and sights could be lined up, getting flinched could add more sway you didnt see but the server interpreted youre shots being off by a MM.

    Finally the Controllers guys accepted the fact that the only way to match a kyeboard and mouse user is by cheating. as far as I am concerened on a level playing field and same level user, a controller can not beat a m/k setup. on matchmaking there are options to choose the levels, add allow disallow aim assist... Noone will use controllers and that is the issue. Playstation and Xbox wants to sell their stupid and useless controllers...
    If you want to be a better player use mouse and keyboard.... you do not want people with mouse and keyboard not have access to aim assist, well then remove the aim assist feature from your game....
    It is a double edged sword. the problem here is not controller players as we mouse keyboard users never considered them a threat. for me they have always been cannon fodder. with out aim assist they ar just level 2 bots. with aim assist they become well an aim bot lvl3 so a moderate challenge. but when you have mouse keyboard players emulating controller aim assist thats godlike bot challenge. so this is hurting mouse keyboard players fun....
    I never use the assist thing but I can see its "really" broken and I do not even want to do a comparison because I can see it would be addictive. Personally, I consider aim assist cheating so to answer your question, all aim assist users "are" cheaters. so controllers and controller emulators are a cheat devices but COD is a cheat enables system therefore using aim assist in COD is "not" cheating.

Not some fat little kid with bunny ears hopping around the map with AA and a sniper, or AA tracking you around the corner and up the stairs, when the player is shooting blind at you. I've been playing online fps games since the first battlefield and cod came out, getting locked onto with AA at medium to long range feels like HACKS ! The difference in accuracy between controllers with aim assist and mouse and keyboard is a serious issue. With the fast-paced movement in the game, it’s nearly impossible for mouse and keyboard players to match the accuracy of controllers. It's clear that mouse and keyboard users need some form of rotational assist to balance the playing field. It's a misconception that every mouse player has god-like accuracy, just as it's unrealistic to assume that every controller player sticks to targets 100% of the time. The truth is, there are different skill levels across both input methods. However, in the current state of the game, if you put two equally skilled players against each other-one using a controller and the other a mouse-the controller player will almost certainly win, and this holds true at every skill level. I don't want an aim assist nerf-that would be lazy and unfair to the players who rely on it. It’s dialed in just right, so don’t mess with what’s not broken. But anyone who’s being real knows it’s not a fair fight for mouse players right now, so let’s fix that without punishing the controller crowd.

    You didn't even have to label the mouse and key footage approaching the end... just like all the killcams, we can immediately tell what input killed us, it doesn't look or function the same. I joke but the rule of thumb is: can't hit a shot or get on target until they can't miss a shot or leave the target (CONTROLLER PLAYER); great centering and precision, first on target, first shots are lethal areas (high chest neck head), target strafes or jumps and then bullets miss as the M/K player races to re-acquire the target before the aim assist bullets catch up (M/K). Aim assist is the video game equivalent of various equity policies where someone with a form of disadvantage artificially receives so strong an advantage that they end up surpassing a higher skilled or meritorious competitor.

    There is an easy fix for this that would make everyone happy. Just create input-based matchmaking and let controller players (whether on PC or Console) play specifically against each other and then separate the M&K player lobbies. Or they could nerf the AA and get it back to where it was in WZ1 and make the whole experience more balanced. Just because the game is more difficult on a controller, it doesn't justify holding players' hands and aiming for them. Aiming on M&K is not that easy either and having a consistent aim is way too difficult. Disagree - this is not abuse and cheating. Imagine you were not an MK player and played controller all your life and reached the same level of proficiency and comfort on the controller you have on the mouse today, and someone suddenly gave you aim assist. You would feel like a god (go check our reidboyy on twitch you played wz on console without aim assist ). Movement is also a lot more intuitive and easier on the controller as well.
    The pervasive idea that controller players need aim assist to compete with MK has been such a nonsensical point, and I have no idea where it started. I suppose for a completely brand new player who has never played a video game on either input, MK would be easier to aim, but this is a scenario that does not reflect reality.
    The way aim assist works at the moment by increasing human reaction time to the level of aim bot for controller players is utterly OP (especially in the hands of skilled controller players) IMO this barely evens the ground. I hope this type of software forces developers to normalize this.
    ALL top WARZONE/COD players will tell you that virtually everyone on that level has the same aim/reaction time (human limitations) where the only distinguishing factor is game IQ/awareness - which is why I still get owned by good players with this software.
    Stop buying into the MK is somehow an easier input method propaganda because you are comfortable with it. The idea that aim assist exists to somehow even the playing field is ridiculous - it exists so children can play these games on consoles.

    In my opinion, aim assist on mouse and keyboard doesn't make you better than anyone on controller who's actually good. I've been using this to play ranked for a while because in ranked you CANNOT play and be GOOD without aim assist, period, but I digress. Controller players STILL have the advantage because of consistency. Sticks have less room for error meaning i still find myself jerking my shots or running out of mouse space or other small stuff that controller players don't deal with. Plus they can snake to shoot and fast drop shot to shoot a lot easier. Again ME PERSONALLY this just catches us kbm players up to speed with controller players at least as far as ranked goes. Which i don't see a problem with simply because the developers decided this year to give controller players the advantage by giving the players the strongest aim assist in a cod title we've seen yet. Moral of the story, this evens the playing field is all. Once again, just my opinion i'm open to hear yours

      I'm at the point I don't really believe there's ever going to be any effort to really address this. It makes mediocre players better if they're willing to learn an easier skill (how to effectively use AA) and it narrows the skill gap which makes more people feel like they're competing.. which keeps more people buying DLC content as well. It's kind of a no brainier that input based matchmaking should be in this game but that would totally break up the mirage of fair competitive cross play. Like most things in the world... Aim assist isn’t broken. M/K is. It doesn’t matter if the console at 60 FPS moves the crosshairs 5-10 pixels when your M/K can do 360 degree tuns in the time it takes you to rotate 15 degrees on controller and is seeing into the future because their frame rate is 144.
    If you’re saying aim assist is broken at long range… you might have a point. At close range aim assist is necessary if against M/K…. Until recoil rears its ugly head. Recoil is vastly easier to control on
    M/K

    • @OlderThanAverageGamer
      @OlderThanAverageGamer  Год назад +1

      There was a time, when the argument you're trying to make would have a good one to have. Even now, if you made it about a different game perhaps (even though this is an issue in more games than MW now). But the idea that AA isn't broken is seemingly based on two things...
      1) I don't like how much better a mouse is generally speaking than a controller so, there couldn't possibly be a problem with anything related to controllers 2) Every mouse player pretty much cheats.
      Neither is really a point but rather a complaint. And neither is willing to look at the countless pieces of video evidence over the past 5 years that go into great length about what is broken with AA. The better question is,
      "Is cross-play actually good for competitive FPS gaming if it allows two parties to essentially play with two totally different sets of rules and game mechanics?"
      I think the answer is, No. Not for gamers it isn't. It's great for companies because they make a lot more money with a cross-play feature but, aim assist in it's current state in a LOT games is simply a band-aid for bigger problem. Aim Assist may not technically be broken but, in too many cases, it's an overwhelming advantage that goes beyond the idea of leveling the playing field and simply turns the entire table over. It's horse shit and games shouldn't be forcing players to play against people of different inputs until they can create an "assist" that doesn't simply snap into the target.

    The thing with mouse and keyboard is that yes you have more control especially with small movements with the mouse, than just with a controller but that doesnt automatically give you good aim. A person playing on controller can have better aim than a mouse player. And now with crossplay these two play together and the controller player who already has better aim than the mouse player also gets aim assist whereas the mouse person does not. That can make it feel a bit unfair to the mouse player i think.
    On the other hand you can have 2 zero skill players, one on mouse and one on controller and i think the mouse person will always be better, because its just easier with the mouse. But if you get good with a controller you can beat it. And i think even without aim assist a high skill controller player can be very accurate.
    So in my opinion aim assist should either not exist in crossplay at all or alternatively everyone should be able to use it. But i really dont like that only some can use it and others not.
    So as long as controllers have aim assist, i dont think its a cheat to use aim assist with a mouse
    Its just a crutch and if your aim is good i think it can beat aim assists, (look at CS pros and their aim, no aim assist, short of a straight aim bot could beat that) It just requires a lot of work or insane natural ability to get that aim. But why would you do that if you can just turn on aim assist. Which i think is also kind of good, noone wants to spend hours training aim just to enjoy a video game so just being relaxed and using aim assist and not worrying about your aim is more fun i think. But then everyone you’re playing with should get to use that benefit aswell.

      The zero skill player issue is exactly why I made this video. Generally speaking, I would agree with you. However, with the way Aim Assist is being implemented into FPS games now, it's taken a huge right turn and I'd say it's a pretty hefty advantage for the controller user whereas before, it would have only been a slight advantage to the Mnk player.

      I'm not 100% what your stance is based on the comment but I'll say this... I just find it to be a bit of a travesty that a casual controller player will end up having such an advantage due to aim assist that in order to compete with it on MnK, you'd need to put real, serious, hours into the game. They've made the idea of being a casual Mnk player that can have fun a near impossibility. I don't understand what anyone really gets out of aim assist this strong either. You're ruining muscle memory for other games because so much of your "aim" is assisted here. It's simply NOT balanced the way it is. Maybe a 30-40% reduction in rotational aim assist would put the game skill required to compete in similar skill lobbies more equal.

    It is cheating but so is using a controller. The reality is FPS should force you to use one or the other OR they need to separate the two. Right now using a controller is just cheating when up against mouse players but without aim assist mouse and keyboard would stomp. There is no middle ground. One stomps the other in either scenario. The reason I believe mouse and keyboard should be forced and it should be a thing that console makers design and create for consoles is that it is better. What game plays better on a controller without some form of assistance? I rest my case. Mouse and keyboard is superior when there is no AI assistance and we should always strive for the next best thing to progress gaming. Controllers were first and mouse and keyboard gaming is just better. We should be at a point where we are designing better mouses and gaming keyboards but we are still using basic shit because we are coddling controller players. Controllers should have been abandoned 10 years ago.
