WATCH | Foreign nationals in Beaufort West live in fear after Mayor McKenzie's comments

While poverty and unemployment in the small town of Beaufort West reach unprecedented heights, asylum seekers and refugees have made the Western Cape town their home. However, rumours of the new district Mayor Gayton McKenzie forcing out these asylum seekers and refugees has left many of the Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and Ethiopians residing in the area fearful. The fears of being forced out stem from McKenzie's comments about making the central Karoo an "immigration free zone".
