Really nice work man! What kind of board are you using, MDF?
Thanks! Yes its an MDF that has a laminate type layer on top that will take paint.
If you can find pre primed MDF, I’ve found using polyurethane sanding sealer will make the MDF soak up very little paint. The edges are particularly problematic, and their make take a couple coats. It dries pretty fast, just don’t soak it on so that it doesn’t swell the MDF. So I do my cutouts, then sand the edges and shapes, then I use sanding sealer on all of it. I wipe off the excess a few minutes after application, and you just wait an hour or so. Then spray away.
I’m sure there are wood workers that may have some better techniques, but this what works for me, and it’s super cheap. One small can of Minwax SS will go for years.
