This is just my opinion, but, somehow I didn't feel this song lived upto the standard. AIIYL era was way better tho. Jisoo and Rose barely got any lines. Lisa rocked as usual. Jennie too. Selena blended in well, but the song didn't have much variation and the beat was literally the same throughout the song. And the lyrics...well, they weren't the best for me. But this is just my taste, I liked how they had a different concept tho. The music video was really nice
I agree - the song felt too manufactured, almost like it was trying too hard to be a western hit. I really wish BlackPink were given more creative freedom to create songs they like & are passionate about, rather than being used as money makers for YG to sort out their dept. Haha I just wrote a big ass comment in the mv page to point things I like and don’t like and yeah. As I said, I’m really not an over sensitive blink always counting the lines etc, like, it’s normal it’s not perfect. BUT: FFS the whole first part of the song I was like where’s Jisoo line pls? And by the end I was really shocked at how little she got this time. But I was as much ANNOYED at this point to still not get a Jennie rap WHAT Can’t YG understand?? There’s lots of raps here and as much as I love Lisa’s flow they didn’t need to give her AAAALL the parts, also she can totally sing and could have sung some other lines instead of getting the whole rap hhhh. And if Jennie had rapped then Jisoo would have gotten more singing lines... I just don’t agree about Rosé, I think she shone a lot and got her share. But... yeah. If I'm honest this song just wasn't it, the vocals and visuals are great as always, but the beat is just straight and similar the whole way through. The first time I heard the chorus, I didn't even realise that it was the chorus- that's how underwhelming it was. It sounds a bit like an unfinished song, one of their worst imo. But this is all just my opinion. But what ISNT my opinion is what is worst of all- it's how Rose, the main vocalist and especially JISOO gets hardly any lines... As always. It's basically just Lisa and Jennie X Selena ft. Rose and Jisoo. No hate towards the girls I love them to bits but YG needs to step up their game

Idk I’m just not into this song. I think HYLT was better (not even a huge fan of that if I’m being honest), I just found this had very little tune and I’m a little sad that Jisoo didn’t have that many lines. Again not trying to be rude or anything but just wanna be honest I don’t think the song was strong or had a good sound? Visuals of the MV are super nice tho, and the girls are always so sweet. Sorry I’d also like to say I’m not a Blink, but I do like some of their songs :)

to people saying they didn’t like the song: the reason behind it is because the song is VERY americanised. yg only promoted and posted the d-day teasers, the rest was all by either american producers or selena (ariana as well, since she co-wrote the song with victoria monet). i feel like this song was made to please “western ears”, people that never had an insight of the kpop world at all. i was also disappointed by it at first ngl but it was kinda expected since it’s a collaboration and a pre-release single as well
Just because its western influenced doesn't automatically mean its gonna be a bad song, there are so many songs in the west that are catchy and well written, this song just needed a lot more effort in my opinion, i don't think the western part is the problem , also there are bad songs in kpop too....bad or good songs can be made on either side its all about the production of the music

Lorent I AGREE THO but it’s more common for american producers being “lazy” when it comes to beats and i see this happening here. for me personally, american pop is more focused on trends and straight beats than anything else, and that’s exactly why my expectations are different. kpop tends to have higher budgets and more diversity than normal american pop (it doesn’t necessarily means kpop is all that unique, since it does have overused sounds and concepts)
Everyone saying that since Arianna helped to co-write it should have been good. First of all Arianna is not going to make another artists song better than hers and also her songs are pretty explicit most of the time. While Blackpink always adds a sexy vibe and flavour to their own songs they are not just a plain mess of sexual innuendos and boring verses. Kiss and Make Up and Sour Candy didn't even had a MV and yet they were catchier songs than this.

Oh thank God I'm not the only one that thought the song sucked. Not an antis but I am a lover of music and that was not it. I feel like they're forcing it too much. The song was called "ice-cream" you'd think Rose and jisoo would've had more lines since it totally matched their image. The song was a major flop.
If I were to be honest about the song, I don't think it will beat records. I also don't think it is a good song. The beat just repeats and it gets boring over time, the line distribution is horrible because Jisoo and Rose had like no lines and it was too outstretched in my opinion for a western song hit. The colors were really cool and fun looking, a long with their outfits and looks. HYLT era was really an astonishing era, but I don't think this song would really beat BTS' records. Ok, so I wasn’t a fan of HYLT. I thought the lyrics were half nonsensical & the beat was predictable, but I’d take that over this. They truly disappointed me with the overly sexual lyrics. to people saying they didn’t like the song: the reason behind it is because the song is VERY americanised. yg only promoted and posted the d-day teasers, the rest was all by either american producers or selena (ariana as well, since she co-wrote the song with victoria monet). i feel like this song was made to please “western ears”, people that never had an insight of the kpop world at all. i was also disappointed by it at first ngl but it was kinda expected since it’s a collaboration and a pre-release single as well
Just because its western influenced doesn't automatically mean its gonna be a bad song, there are so many songs in the west that are catchy and well written, this song just needed a lot more effort in my opinion, i don't think the western part is the problem , also there are bad songs in kpop too....bad or good songs can be made on either side its all about the production of the music

Lorent I AGREE THO but it’s more common for american producers being “lazy” when it comes to beats and i see this happening here. for me personally, american pop is more focused on trends and straight beats than anything else, and that’s exactly why my expectations are different. kpop tends to have higher budgets and more diversity than normal american pop (it doesn’t necessarily means kpop is all that unique, since it does have overused sounds and concepts)
Everyone saying that since Arianna helped to co-write it should have been good. First of all Arianna is not going to make another artists song better than hers and also her songs are pretty explicit most of the time. While Blackpink always adds a sexy vibe and flavour to their own songs they are not just a plain mess of sexual innuendos and boring verses. Kiss and Make Up and Sour Candy didn't even had a MV and yet they were catchier songs than this.

If I were to be honest about the song, I don't think it will beat records. I also don't think it is a good song. The beat just repeats and it gets boring over time, the line distribution is horrible because Jisoo and Rose had like no lines and it was too outstretched in my opinion for a western song hit. The colors were really cool and fun looking, a long with their outfits and looks. HYLT era was really an astonishing era, but I don't think this song would really beat BTS' records. No offense, just my honest my opinion.
