This is such a useful resource for anyone who gets one of these!! There's always little odds and ends you discover when putting stuff together like this, so that means fewer people will have to go through that trial by fire haha. The finished product looked stunning! It looked fun to put together too, like you said. I love all the details you shared, the simple stuff like stickers peeling right off. Stuff like that really makes a difference 😂
Thanks for the in-depth review! I'm leaning very strongly towards an Apex enclosure after seeing and hearing so much positive feedback about them from various sources. I think I'll most likely go with the 4x2x2 with the single swing-down door, as that one has a door lock included in the price.
Thanks for this! My baby Argentine boa has a 4x2x2 glass enclosure at the moment, but I've been shopping around for something for when she needs an upgrade, and this looks fantastic.
Look at you go! That is a beautiful enclosure. With the options for the door, i have to check it out. I cannot find pvc with hinged doors that i can afford. Thank you for the video!
Yeah, I'm getting a new one this weekend for my MBK and going with the swing-down doors. They're not cheap but they're worth the investment. You could buy a 2x2 for Chile right now, and then later on, get an extension and just add on another 2-3' for him and he'd be good for life!
@@Snake_Therapy I will check that out! I looked at them last night and thought 😳😵💫🙃🤬 the nicest I've seen yet, but beyond my budget! I will check out your idea...thank you!
Indeed, my husband and I built that table and it’s freaking awesome. Comes in SO handy- just wait for the next videos to see proof of that! Just the one dog, and she’s featured in Sunday’s apex review. Ume the pit mix.
I know you were showing using this for your snake, but do you have tortoises too by any chance? This looks amazing and I am mostly sold now on this over the other cages out there (main one I was considering was Toad Ranch Cages, but their cages look very complicated and expensive and heavy, and I'm interested in an option that I could potentially carry myself, if I need to, and build myself, if I need to. Could you also perhaps share links to the tools you used when putting this together yourself? Like, the clamp things, and the sealant, and stuff?
I'm sorry, I know nothing about Tortoises, really, but I don't see why you couldn't...? These are definitely easy to carry by yourself as far as weight goes- they are so light. Clamps are either just simple woodworking clamps or c-clamps. I have so many of them... I'll have to rewatch the vid and see if I can add some links to those. The sealant is simply 100% Silicone. It doesn't matter what brand it is as long as you're sure it doesn't have any other additives- it has to say 100% on it. I'll add a link in the description shortly. What other stuff do you want links to?
I definitely recommend the swing down door- the next one I'm getting will be that style. I haven't added the radiant heat panel to mine yet, but as far as placement, it'll really depend on what size enclosure you get, your animal's size/temp requirements, and how the whole layout inside is set up. I recommend setting it up and then testing out the placement of the panel for a while before putting your animal inside. Set up a handful of thermometers in different zones of the enclosure while you do this, and use a heat gun intermittently to check surface temps and play around with it. For example, if you have a shelf built in somewhere like I do, it could be good to put it underneath that, but again, it all depends on which panel, how big etc. Test, test, test, until you get it right! ;) Good luck!!
I am going to get the 4x2x2 i think. Really thinking I want the Apex one, is it holding up well for you for the money? I am getting a ball python and want it to be all good😊 I love the look of the 4x2x2 with the swing down! That is so aestetically pleasing. I have seen that heat lamp, and DHP is okay to do or an RHP so i think I will start with lamp and then try RHP. I have a similar build picked like yours with the half screen so hoping I can set it up with the lights and DHP until I can get the RHP of course I will test before adding my snake😊 I am so thankful to your video as I was on the fence about Apex and your video convinced me😂😊
It's the best enclosure I have, and I will be getting Apex enclosures for all of my snakes (I have 9 in total) moving forward as they need upgrades!! Absolutely a great choice. And DHP is fine (much better than Ceramic heat emitters, that dry out the air much faster), as long as you're sure that the temperature gradient is working from end to end. I have a heating pad sandwiched between two tiles attached to its own thermostat inside the enclosure as well, so he also has belly heat if he wants it, and the light is a 75Watt halogen, so temp gradient is good so far. I would like to move towards RHP eventually though.
@ladzima123 just plain cheap floor tiles from Home Depot! Nothing special, it’s just to make sure the heat pad isn’t directly against the PVC (not good) nor directly touching the snake’s body (also no good). The put the thermostat probe either in between the heat pad and the tile or try to make sure it’s fixed to the top somehow so they can’t move it with their bodies. I put a hide over top.. and if you put moss in there too-> humid hide!
15:28 I like to think Severus was intently listening to what you were saying about putting together his new home 😂

So glad to help! And yep, next one I go for will be swing down, for sure.
Did you end up getting one? If so what do you think? I just ordered one today
execellent ,,,,,, great job
Thank you! 😊

Yay!! That's awesome, and this would be so good for *Her!
sorry, comment edited, I meant HER. What's her name?
@@Snake_Therapy no worries! Her name is Stormbringer, and she's my little princess (5 months old, 2 months together and she is a sweetheart!)
Great name! She's gonna be a big girl someday, so you're definitely gonna need to expand! 😀
The dovetail joinery is a very nice touch!
It makes it SO easy to assemble and disassemble as needed!

Congrats on hitting 500 subs too!!!
Thank you!!
You must get good use out of that big work table with all the hands-on work/hobby things you seem to do 😊 also what kind of dogs do you have?

thank you for sharing this !! ♥
It’s done great! Zero complaints. And thank you!
@@Snake_Therapy thanks so much (:
I am thinking of getting the one with the swing down door. I also was wondering in terms of the radiant heat pad, if you add one, do you add it ontop?
